Extended Summary
A surprised Aden accepts a very emotional Belle’s proposal. Aden wants to save up money and have a big wedding but Belle wants to get married straight away. Rachel hears about the engagement and is surprised. It becomes clear that Belle hasn’t told Aden something – something that Belle and Rachel know about. Belle tells Irene and Aden she’s thinking about finding her father in time for the wedding. Both of them don’t think it’s a great idea but they try to be supportive. It gets even more intriguing when Belle asks for Rachel’s help in an application to enable them to be married in two weeks instead of the required month.
Aden admits to Nicole that while he’s glad to get engaged he feels a bit bad he couldn’t give Belle a ring. Aden tells Gibbsy about what happened with Clint. Gibbsy goes to see Clint about the ring and it becomes apparent both of them are involved in illegal activities. Gibbsy manages to get Aden the ring back, much to Aden’s surprise. Aden proposes to Belle properly and she joyously accepts. However as they embrace, it is clear Belle is holding a dark secret.
Irene is having troubles with the trawler – they’ve lost three of the buyers which make up for about 80% of business, and what with the insurance refusing to pay up, and the increasing debts, Irene is thinking about cutting her losses. But when she finds out about Aden and Belle’s engagement she can’t bring herself to put Aden out of a job. Eventually when Aden asks for an advance on his pay, she has to tell him that there’s not going to be a boat business anymore. Aden tells this to Gibbsy who, out of desperation, offers to run the business for nothing in exchange for a percentage.
Alf asks Tony if Aden could go back to the football team but Tony refuses. Rachel tries to persuade Tony to forgive Aden as well, stating that Tony has had more than his share of forgiveness for his mistakes recently, but he still doesn’t listen. Eventually Tony finds out that Aden borrowed the money to pay for an engagement ring and this is enough to bring him around. He gives Aden another chance and he’s back on the team.
Belle goes to see Rachel at the hospital, to pick something up. Belle apologises for being late, she had to find an excuse to leave the house. Rachel confirms that she has also managed to sort it so that Belle and Aden can get married in a fortnight. Rachel can tell that the situation is taking its toll on Belle, but explains that she isn’t going to lecture her about telling Aden her secret.
Belle knows that Rachel is right, but she simply can’t bring herself to tell Aden the truth – that she is dying.
