Extended Summary
April is angry that Xavier is blackmailing John Palmer into putting her water bottle ban proposal to council. She thinks it’s unethical, not to mention illegal. April demands that Xavier go and talk to John and revoke his blackmail threat.
Xavier does so, but also pleads with John to still take April’s idea to council, but John refuses. The kids decide they need to get Gina on board to convince John to take the proposal forward, but they need to do it without her knowing. Xavier tells Gina that John is on board and Gina is surprised and thrilled. She praises John for his efforts in trying to get along with the kids and lavishes him with affection. John can’t resist and is forced to play along with the idea that he does in fact intend to put the water bottle proposal forward. It looks like Xavier’s plan has worked a treat.
Leah is still struggling with the loss of her relationship with Elijah. Feeling guilty about keeping Elijah’s correspondence with VJ a secret, Miles suggests Leah try writing to Elijah – perhaps some contact will make her feel a bit better. Leah seems to be considering the idea, but an offhand comment from Colleen about that seeming ‘desperate’ sees Leah abruptly shut down and decide to just try and put Elijah out of her mind for good.
Miles is concerned about Nicole’s state of mind as she waits for her test results. He thinks she should see a counsellor, or she could talk to him if she likes? But Nicole says she can talk to Penn, he’s helping her through things at the moment. Gina expresses her concerns after Nicole fails an exam. She too would like Nicole to see the school counsellor and Miles endeavours to talk to Nicole again to try and convince her to do this. Penn volunteers to talk to Nicole, he knows how to help her. He tells her that he knows a sure fire way of taking her mind off things, but he won’t tell her how until after she has dinner with him tonight. Later, Alf sees Penn and Nicole laughing together and he doesn’t have a good feeling about things. He tells Miles he’s worried about Nicole spending time with Penn, he’s got a bad feeling about the bloke. After dinner, Penn drops the bombshell that he was the one who planted the needle, to teach her a lesson.
