Extended Summary
Angelo arrives back in town with Shandi and is immediately guilty on seeing Charlie. He goes overboard in greeting her and Charlie picks up on his uncharacteristic affection. A cryptic conversation between Angelo and Shandi the next morning peaks Charlie’s interest further, and when she spots Angelo on the beach and realises he’s seen her but not approached, Charlie is convinced something is going on. Charlie calls Angelo on it, but he denies any infidelity.
Later, Angelo seeks advice from Alf about whether to reveal a secret he’s harbouring to Charlie. Alf thinks he should. Angelo confesses to Charlie the fact he was tempted by Shandi and she’s devastated. He explains that it’s her freedom that attracted him – the lure of no commitments or responsibility. In the wake of opening the restaurant, Angelo’s feeling he’s more committed than ever. But Charlie can’t see his point, she’s hurt and heads off, stating she’ll free him of yet another commitment in his life.
Miles is upbeat. After reading a self help book, he’s in a “yes” mood and open to all possibilities in his life. Leah worries that Miles is going at this new life approach to hard, but nothing can stop his optimism. When he runs into Shandi, the two hit it off and Miles learns that she too, has read the book. They share a meal and a kiss and Miles couldn’t be happier – that is, until Shandi reveals John Palmer is her father.
Dex takes his goldfish, Marilyn to school. He’s desperate to bond with her, but it’s just not happening. He takes the fish back to the pet store where he asks for a refund, the fish doesn’t love him. Adrian, the pet shop girl, explains that fish have very short term memories and lives. This upsets Dex further, and feeling for the fish, he decides to keep her. The trip to the store ends in Adrian asking Dex on a date. The two are getting along well, Adrian explaining that Dex has transferred his love for Marilyn the human onto Marilyn the fish in a bid to get over her. Dex agrees and Adrian tells him not to worry, people do weird things to get over love.
