Extended Summary
Belieiving that Tank now hates her, Evelyn takes out her upset on Leah, accusing her of wanting her and Tank to break up. Leah defends herself, telling Evelyn she just wants what’s right for her.
It’s not long until Evie runs into Tank at the diner. She’s concerned that he has a black eye, but he plays it down, and escapes before she can question him further. On her way home, she’s surprised to see Tank having an argument with Principal Snelgrove. She hurries over after Snelgrove leaves, and Tank reveals that Snelgrove is his father.
The pair find a private spot on the pier, and Tank opens up. He reveals that after his mother died, Snelgrove essentially disowned him and started acting violently. He admits that Snelgrove was the cause of the black eye, and begs Evelyn not to tell the police.
Evelyn takes pity on him and is drawn back under his spell. She takes him back to her place, and asks him to forget everything she said last night, telling him she wasn’t thinking straight.
They begin to get steamy on the couch, but Leah and VJ arrive home and interrupt them, leaving Tank to make an embarrassing exit.
Leah confronts Evelyn, who reveals that Snelgrove has been hitting Tank.
Leah confronts Snelgrove about the situation, and he reveals that the story’s a little bit different – it was Tank who bashed him when he was 15, not the other way round. When Leah reveals that Evelyn is dating Tank, Snelgrove advises her to do everything in her power to keep him away from her. Meanwhile, Tank shows Evelyn that he’s cleaned up his room for her, and tells her that he doesn’t want to mess with her life. She leads him to his bed, falling further under his spell.
