Matt gets caught in Charlotte’s web yet again. John resolves to charm Marilyn into falling in love with him again. James proposes to Roo – will she accept?
Extended Summary
Matt wakes up at Charlotte’s place, and insists to her that last night was a one off, it only happened because they both had a bad day. Charlotte says it doesn’t have to be, but Matt is adamant he doesn’t want it to be a regular thing. Matt goes shower, and Charlotte sneakily hides his keys. When he comes out, there’s a knock at the door. He rushes to hide just as Andy comes in. He’s come to see how Charlotte is, but hse dismisses his concerns. However, he quickly clocks Matt’s skateboard leaning against the wall and calls out to him – busted – and Matt grabs his board and quickly leaves.
With Matt gone, Andy scolds Charlotte for her behaviour, telling her he’s really worried for her. She admits that she’s tired of always trying to do the right thing and failing. She ends up hurting someone everytime she tries to help. Maybe she’s just a bad person. Andy tries to cheer her up, but it seems Charlotte just wants to stop pretending.
Soon after, Andy runs into Matt and calls him an idiot. Matt asks Andy not to say anything and he agrees, but warns Matt that Charlotte isn’t in a good way and he should stay away for his own sake. Meanwhile Charlotte is sitting at home with another daytime scotch, and sees the guost of Denny again, sitting across from her, staring. Charlotte remains calm and tells her to stop turing up here, that there’s no point and that she’s going to get away with it. Denny’s ghost disappears and Charlotte is smug – maybe accepting her dark side is exactly what she needs to do.
Later that day, Matt returns to Charlotte’s to collect his missing keys, but Charlotte playfully refuses to give them to him. Matt insists he’s only there for the keys but Charlotte knows how to get to him, and it isn’t long until they’re in eacxh other’s arms again.

She’s cheered up when Alf walks in, reuniting her with a familiar face, but becomes anxious again when Irene reminds Marilyn that they’re due to drop in on John this morning.
Roo and Maddy are waiting for Alf as he returns home, excited to see him. Roo reveals that James is returning that afternoon with his parents, and Alf suggests he come round to the new house and meet them at the same time. Roo thinks it’s a great idea, and is excited for the night, but when James returns, he tells her that he’d sent her a message last night – they weren’t up to the trip. Roo tries to hide her disappointment as James apologises that she didn’t get the message, leaving Maddy quietly suspicious about the sudden change of plans.
Back at James’s place, James gets a call and tells them he has to run out for a bit to see a patient. When he’s gone, Maddy questions Roo on how she feels about not meeting the parents yet again. Roo says it’ll happen eventually. Alf arrives, and as Roo goes to the door, Maddy decides to snoop on the phone that James left behind.
Later, Maddy confronts James at the diner, telling him she knows what’s going on, as she hands him his phone. He holds his breath, unsure what she’s found, but then she asks, is he going to propose to Roo? James sighs; yes he is. Maddy hugs him excitedly, and James is glad she approves. She apologises for snooping but knew something was up, then saw photos of rings and venues on his phone. James dismisses it but asks that she keeps it a secret for now.

Maddy is with Alf, having decided to give Roo and James some alone time. Alf asks why Maddy was so quiet earlier, and she admits it was because James was acting a bit weird, but it’s nothing. However, when he asks why she was suspicious, she reveals about his two phones, the times he’s had to suddenly rush off to work, and how his parents have never made it to visit. Alf is left curious.
Meanwhile at James’s, Roo arrives and James hands her a glass of wine as she settles on the couch with him. She comments how perfect this is and James agrees he could be here with her for the rest of his life. Then James fishes out a box from the couch and gives it to Roo. She’s stunned and opens it to find the engagement ring. James asks Roo if she will marry him. What will Roo say?
