Extended Summary

Cash runs into Roo outside the surf club and says he’s concentrating on the people who knew how much money the surf club had lost: He’s called the solicitor who arranged the donation and threatened to use his police contacts, even though he can’t actually do that. John appears, as Cash leaves, and realises Roo is getting Cash to look into the mystery sponsor. He asks how she’s paying for him and Roo replies that, since it’s surf club business, she’s using surf club funds. As she walks away, John asks if Gerald knows.

Cash heads up to Salt where Felicity shows him a poster for the Moonlight at Salt romantic evening that Xander is playing. Cash orders three coffees and a big breakfast, explaining he’s going to see Remi and Eden. Felicity asks to come too and he agrees. John comes up and tells Cash to stop his investigation. Cash says that Roo hired him so he won’t stop until she says so.

Levi and Mackenzie are still in bed in the motel room. Mackenzie comments on Levi waking up and says he seemed tired. They both confirm they have no regrets and kiss. At the Lyrik house, Remi manages to get himself to the front room. Eden asks if he has any thoughts about the victim impact statements. Remi wants to move on but says Eden should still do it if she thinks she should. He wonders if it would mean facing them and Eden says she could do a written statement or video. Cash and Felicity turn up and Felicity asks Remi if she can hug him, to which he agrees if she’s gentle. Cash asks Eden if she’s okay.

John approaches Roo at the coffee cart and tells her she needs to sack Cash. Irene is bewildered that they’re still arguing about this. John suggests asking the committee if they’re all right with Roo spending the funds. Irene tries to agree but Roo wonders if the committee know about John spending money they haven’t budgeted for on expensive walkie-talkies and accuses him of being the one misusing funds.

Levi says he’s heading out for coffees then checks Mackenzie actually drinks coffee. Mackenzie jokes he should have found out more about her before sleeping with her, before admitting the only things she knows about him are that he has a sister (he says he actually has two) and is a doctor. Levi finds she takes long black and says he knows her better already.

Remi asks Eden if she’s still thinking about “the thing” and she explains to Cash and Felicity about the victim impact statements. Cash says it’s voluntary and Remi says it’s a no from him. Eden says she is worried the brothers will get the same sentence. Remi is aghast that she wants to use the statement to help the brothers. Eden says just the younger one but Remi insists they both need to pay.

A short time after, Cash finds Eden outside the house. Eden insists that Mickey was just being dragged along with things, pointing out he called the ambulance for Remi. Cash says that’s only because Eden convinced him to and he shouldn’t have needed her to. He says he thought he’d lost her because of the brothers and they don’t deserve to get away with that.

Eden and Cash rejoin Remi and Felicity inside. Eden again tries to argue her position, saying Wes bullied Mickey into helping him and again pointing out that Mickey called the ambulance. Remi retorts that he also dumped him by the side of the road. Felicity says it’s hard to care about the brothers after what they did to Eden, and Cash argues that Mickey could have done more. Eden gives up and walks out.

Levi and Mackenzie are now dressed and indulging in a question and answer session. Mackenzie asks Levi his favourite colour and he says the dark inky one that the sky is at night (Mackenzie calls it dark indigo). He asks her favourite sport and she says anything but AFL, since her dad played it. Mackenzie asks Levi’s most embarassing story. Levi starts to tell a story of when he was on his way to a concert with Imogen, then stops awkwardly and apologises, before asking her favourite movie.

Roo tells Irene she used to feel sorry for John when Alf had a go at him but now she doesn’t. Irene says she and Leah have had arguments over the years but both want what’s best for the Diner. Roo realises Irene’s saying she and John both want what’s best for the surf club. She goes over to John’s table and says she still thinks they need Cash to look into things but will pay for it out of her own money. John accepts and says he won’t buy the expensive walkie-talkies.

Mackenzie is asking Levi what it was like growing up in a funeral home and if they thought there were ghosts there. Levi says he used to pretend there were and Eden went along with it, admitting they were both weird kids. He also says he used to help his dad out and learned a lot about human anatomy that way. Eden suddenly hammers on the door and Levi ushers Mackenzie into the bathroom before letting her in. Eden asks if there’s a minibar.

Cash, Felicity and Remi are sat outside the house. Felicity comments that they all ganged up on Eden. Remi worries that Mickey will get away with it. Felicity thinks it won’t happen but Cash says if his lawyer angles it, he’s seen people set away with worse crimes with a slap on the wrist.

Cash gets a phone call and answers it, saying it’s been a while since the person called him. He heads down to the end of the drive and asks the person if they know how much drama they’ve caused before saying he’ll sort it. Felicity joins him and tells him that she doesn’t think he and Remi should try and change Eden’s mind, since it’s important for the victim’s voice to be heard.

Eden checks with Levi that Remi would be dead if Mickey hadn’t called the ambulance. Levi says that Eden knows what the right thing to do is and doesn’t need anyone else to tell her. In the bathroom, Mackenzie is trying to put her shoe on and knocks something into the sink. Eden hears the noise and Levi explains it away as a problem with the pipes. He and Eden say their goodbyes and she leaves. Mackenzie emerges and Levi stresses that they have to be more careful in the future and Eden can never find out.

Eden arrives home and Cash asks if she and Remi will be all right if he leaves them alone. Eden says she’s willing to be civil so the ball’s in Remi’s court. Cash takes that. Remi asks Eden if she’s changed her mind. Eden doesn’t think they should talk about it, saying it’s something she has to do. Meanwhile, Levi apologises to Mackenzie for his intense reaction but says he doesn’t want to lose Eden again, explaining they fell out before because he sided with their dad who cheated on their mum.

Eden joins Remi outside and says she doesn’t like what this is doing to them. Remi says he understands but thinks she only sees Mickey as a good person in comparison to Wes. He says he’s going to make his own victim impact statement to cancel out hers, because the magistrate needs to know about the pain he’s still going through.
