Eden speaks her truth. Mackenzie gets a reality check. Cash calls it a day.

Extended Summary

Roo joins John at the surf club and reminds him they’re supposed to be meeting Cash upstairs. John says he’s been looking out for him and thanks Roo for including him.

Cash appears but, instead of telling them who the donor is as they expected, he announces he’s hit a dead end so won’t be taking Roo’s money and advises them to give it up.

As he walks away, John asks Roo if she bought it and she confirms she didn’t.

At the motel, Mackenzie and Levi reflect on how both their fathers had affairs that broke up their families, but Levi has forgiven his and Mackenzie hasn’t. Levi says he’s starting to see Eden’s point of view: He hasn’t changed his opinion of his father but realises he had a responsibility to the people that loved him. Mackenzie asks what this means for them and they kiss.

Remi and Eden continue to be at odds over the victim impact statement. Eden says she cares that he’s hurt but refuses to give up on the idea of giving the statement she wants to, saying Remi can give his statement if he likes but she’s the only one that knows what happened. Remi ends up storming out the front door, but then starts having flashbacks to the accident. Eden goes to help him and he says this is what her friend did to him.

Irene brings Leah some more cups at the coffee cart and admits she wanted to check on her, given it’s her first day back at work. Leah admits she’s actually enjoying it. Irene asks about Justin and suggests they’re taking baby steps. Leah then gets a text from Justin inviting her to a picnic on the beach. She is going to refuse but Irene says she can cover the coffee cart. Leah reflects on them being back dating.

She heads down the beach, where Justin is setting up, and explains that she was at work and Irene is covering. Justin gets her a glass of wine to start off with and they sit in companionable silence.

Cash finds Eden on her own. She says Remi is resting and worries it’s her fault that he needs to. She wonders if she shouldn’t go ahead with the statement. Cash suggests it could give her closure. Eden reminds him he was against her doing it. Cash says he let his anger get in the way and it’s her call. Eden thinks punishing Mickey would just be another bad thing. Cash offers to keep Remi company while she clears her head.

At the motel, Levi and Mackenzie are cuddled up on top of the bed and he admits his arm’s gone to sleep. Mackenzie suggests they get a drink and dinner somewhere before realising they might be seen. Levi admits he has to go home. Mackenzie says she has to get back to work and Levi says he’ll give her a lift.

Justin and Leah make small talk about her being back at work and Theo. He asks about her staying with Roo and Marilyn. Leah says Valerie came over for dinner and Marilyn tried to read her tarot, which she refused. She says she has to get back to the Diner but suggests Justin walk her. They walk back through a park area with Justin suggesting Leah get Irene to cover for her some more. Leah doesn’t want to leave Irene in the lurch. As she starts to walk on, Justin calls her back and asks her to move back in. Leah kisses him.

Eden arrives home and asks Remi how he is. Remi asks if she’s changed her mind. Eden asks Cash to help her record the statement outside and heads out to prepare. Remi asks Cash what happened to changing her mind. Cash admits he thinks they need to support Eden’s decision. Out the back, Cash sets the recording going. Remi comes out just as Eden begins. She says the two men on trial caused her and Remi a lot of hurt and she nearly lost her best friend, but she’s getting through it. She also says that Mickey fought for them and she hopes the magistrate takes that into account: With support and space from Wes, he can turn his life around. Cash stops the recording and Eden asks Remi if he wants to do his. He says he’s got nothing to add.

Levi drops Mackenzie off near the surf club. She notes she wishes she could kiss him. John appears and comments on Mackenzie starting work late. Mackenzie sends him on his way as she and Levi say goodbye, with her telling him to come back soon. At the Diner, Roo is on the phone to John, confirming she’s going to get an answer. Leah comes in and thanks Irene for covering for her. She tells her about Justin inviting her to move back in and Irene wonders what happened to baby steps. Cash arrives to meet Roo, who asks why he gave up the investigation. Cash tells her she has nothing to worry about and Roo realises he knows who the donor is. Cash admits he does and they’re legitimate. Roo isn’t looking forward to telling John her suspicion and anxiety were for nothing. Cash suggests just sticking to the story that he hit a dead end.

That evening at Salt, Mackenzie sends a text to Levi saying she misses him, before bringing drinks over to John and Roo’s table. John wonders why Roo called him there. She says she’s decided to listen to him and Cash and stop trying to find out where the donation came from. Mackenzie is somewhat deflated when Levi messages her back saying not to text him while he’s with his wife.

Leah turns up at the Morgan house with her bags and tells Justin that she’s going to move back in. Justin is happy to take it at whatever paces she wants and tells her to make herself comfortable.
