I miscounte earlier, so here we have the bizzare 11th-19th page, which starts on a rather lesbian kissing kind of note and ends on a middling current character note.
11. Joey Collins (41 points)
A relatively short-term guest character from last year produces incredibly high results and this will mainly be due to the fact that because of the rainbow movement she is highly popular because of her lesbian story. It feels appropriate then that with the World Cup currently being held in the rainbow nation, that I would compare the constant bleating about how offensive it it was to a stadium worth of vuvuzelas.
12.Gypsy Nash (40 points)
Perhaps my venom directed towards Joey is because I actually did think she was a really, really dull character unworthy of the large number points or maybe it's because she's put my beloved Gypsy down to 12th place, which might seem relatively minor to you, and you would be correct to think that, because in the scheme of things it makes no difference. The actors don't recieve anything for placing in this vote. Gypsy was great. She deserved to be 1st and no, I'm not biased.
13=. Morag Bellingham (39 points)
Generally in these votes the women tend to dominate the top end of the table and as you can see with Morag getting 13th. From her venemous best which we will see over the next year on SevenTwo, to her more mild mannered, but still quick witted Morag of the past few years. Whilst I liked the angle of her finding love in 2008, I also find the niceifying of Morag has taken something away as well.
13=. Jack Holden (39 points)
Do you laugh or do you cry when Jack Holden, possibly the worst cop ever to grace our TV screen, gains the same number of points as Morag. From his sometimes nauseating relationship with Martha to his quite frankly terrible policing which saw him try and break every rule and regulations his seniors had put in his place. Shot in the 2008 finale by equally corrupt Angelo
15. Nicole Franklin (35 points)
Nicole is a strange case. She's been on the show for what feels like ages now and yet, she seems to have completely passed me by as a character. I'm sure I'm missing some thing here, but the whole story seems to go hazy.
16=. Vinnie Patterson (34 points)
RIP Vinnie. It says something of a character that he is deemed important enough to be killed off purposefully 8 years after last appearing. Now that Ryan Kwanten has taken his talents over to America, the likelihood of him returning was nil and at least allows everyone to wrap up what had happened to Vinnie.
16=. Rachel Armstrong (34 points)
Rachel was literally put throug everything her first one and half years. Losing a parent, finding out a terrible secret about her other parent, losing her job, getting a new job, getting a kid, having it taken away from her, alcoholism, having to deal with a total non-event of a brother, who could send isnomniacs to sleep. Then Kim left and Rachel seems to have dawdled along in a nice and relatively comfortable relationship with Tony that has never exactly set the pulses racing.
18. Ruby Buckton (33 points)
Remember back two years ago when a bouncy Ruby, em, bounced into town, so excited to see new stepmother, now step-grandmother, Morag with her boyfriend Pat and she was a breath of fresh air. Now two years down the line she's split the audience. There's obviously those that still like her, but there's other that can stand her. I'll sit on the fence on this one.
19. Tony Holden (29 points)
To be perfectly honest, I didn't expect Tony to do this well. Sure, there's some huge Tachel fans out there and a few skinny ones as well, but Tony has been a character full of huge periods of nothingness as the writers appear to have struggled for stories. Even this year with a new kid, a relatively new wife and Indo-smuggling nephew, he's been giving a boxing storyline that has been going on and on and on.
