Well, as tennis longest ever match drags on and on, our Most Popular Character vote finally comes to end.
3. Charlie Buckton (67 points)
Well, with the top 3 characters identities almost certain, the forum lit up with debate with the relative merits of the characters and to be fair Charlie isn't much ahead of Matilda, Belle and Irene. In fact, I'm guessing the discussion has been relatively mild had I thought of voting for Matilda based entirely on her looks. Charlie has been on the show 2 years and she's fairly crammed the stuff in. From her on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off..... relationship with Angelo, her lesbian liaison with Joey, her daughter-cum-sister-cum-daughter through rape and unfortunately being involved in continuous terrible police scenes every week last year within the dross that was the people smuggling.
2. Aden Jefferies (94 points
Aden's performance is not particularly unexpected, and probably luckily for him, the vote came just before he left, but one suspected that his popularity was already on the wane following Belle's death last year. With his widely announced departure always looming on the horizon, there was always a slight feeling of going through the motions waiting for the straw that would break the camels back and whisk him away from the Bay.
1. Sally Fletcher (114 points)
And for the third time in a row, Sally wins and in keeping with traditions, gets to keep the trophy. It's funny to think back that in 2004, she just plodded along with middle of the road storylines and wasn't highly thought of. Then she was pushed to the front of the show by Dan Bennett, and she has reeled off victory after victory in just about everything. However at least it wasn't a walkover and adding the scores up this time was at least more interesting.
And well that's it. Luke Cunningham didn't appear. 5th time lucky perhaps? See you all in 2012
