21. Colleen Hickie/Smart - 56 points
DOWN 3
Played by Lyn Collingwood
Colleen is slightly down, but remains a favourite amongst some fans for
constantly sticking her nose in where it is not welcome and coming out
with her muddled up words. Her encounters with morag are legendary.
22. Shannon Reed - 55 points
UP 1
Played by Isla Fisher
Shannon is up one place, but halfway through she was about tenth. Whilst
there is no disputing that she was indeed SuperShannon, was her new
found popularity amongst Home and Away fans due to the fact that she had
appeared in Wedding Crashes
23. Amanda Vale - 50 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Holly Brisley
Amanda is Dan's ex and has come to the bay to become involved in every
dodgy plot going and be all round baddie. Amanda's daughter is also in
the bay, but doesn't yet know it. I won't tell you who it is as not to
spoil UK viewers.
24. Belle Taylor - 47 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Jessica Tovey
Belle was found in the bush by Ric and he let her hide in his bedroom.
When caught upstairs by Flynn she caused him to fall down the stairs,
ultimately bringing forward his death. Belle is in the bay because her
mother lives here, but I'll keep it a secret as not to spoil the UK
viewers.
25. Josie Russell - 45 points
DOWN 4
Played by Laurie Foell
Josie came into the bay with everyone expecting the worst of her and she
proved them wrong becoming really popular. Then Dan Bennett took over
and Josie, with everyone expecting the best of her, proved everyone
wrong and became very unpopular. Then Josie, with everyone expecting the
worst of her saved the bay from Brett Macklin and she became very
popular.
26. Bobby Simpson/Morgan/Marshall - 44 points
DOWN 3
Played by Nicolle Dickson
Bobby was the big draw in the early years of Home and Away. If a
storyline wanted to be known as a storyline it involved Bobby. Fisher
hated her, he turned out to be her father. She hated Morag who turned
out to be her mother. She married twice before killed by Adam hitting a
log on his speedboat.
27. Kim Hyde - 43 points
DOWN 4
Played by Chris Hemsworth
Kim was affectionally known as "The Plank" in his early days. However
his acting has improved. His stories haven't been changed however. He
still has stories that have him finding out children he thought were his
actually aren't and numerous relationship storylines.
28. Lucas Holden - 39 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Rhys Wakefield
Brought in as Henry's replacement. Conveniently he was also Matilda's
replcament sidekick and happened not to be her brother which finally
comes in very handy when writing a romance story. Not that your lover
being your sibling has stopped Home and Away in the past. However he
probably has had just around the same number of storylines as Henry.
29. Angel Brooks/Parrish - 37 points
DOWN 9
Played by Melissa George
Angel was as big as Ben Hur in the middle of the 90's. In tandem with
Shane they became everyone's favourite couple. Ten years on and many
viewers of that era now work on the stock exchange and come home to
watch Newsnight. Don't let this lowly position fool you.
30. Matilda Hunter - 36 points
UP 26
Played by Indiana Evans
Matilda was fairly new to the bay when the first poll took place. She
has also been given some storylines since, which probably also helps her
cause.
=. Flynn Saunders - 36 points
DOWN 2
Played by Martin Dingle-Wall and Joel McIlroy
Recently deceased Flynn, one of a few characters to have undergone face
changing plastic surgery. Whilst most of his stories were run of the
mill and uninspiring, his final, terminal cancer storyline had great
acting, great writing and was just great.
32. Selina Cook - 35 points
UP 6
Played by Tempany Deckert and Louise Crawford
Some of you may be shocked to find out that Selina was played by two
actresses, but Tempany fell ill during 1996 and so Louise took over.
Apparently producers thought that she was so good they offered her a job
full time. We are still waiting.
33. Robbie Hunter - 34 points
DOWN 23
Played by Jason Smith
Robbie has dropped down the rankings dramatically in the past two year.
Different and quirky when he first arrived, his character is now
strained and tired, he shouts a lot, and his position has reflected
that.
34. Will Smith - 32 points
DOWN 4
Played by Zac Drayson
So some brainiac in the name giving department decided that the first
Smith should share his name with the famous actor. One thing is sure Zac
Drayson isn't going to becoming a famous actor, he probably has more
chance of becoming an infamous actor. On recent returns it appeared he
was auditioning for the Hair Bear Bunch until realising they were
cartoon characters. Zac's performances were usually as 2D.
35. Marilyn Chambers/Fisher - 31 points
UP 1
Played by Emily Symons
Emily played ditzy Marilyn in two different stints over a period of ten
years. Apparently playing Marilyn was simple according to Emily. Well
Marilyn was pretty simple, providing years of comic relief. Towards the
end, the moments of comedy drifted into moments of tragedy.
36. Chloe Richards/Fraser - 30 points
UP 14
Played by Kristy Wright
Chloe returned for just three weeks last year to be killed and shoots up
the standings. She was raped by teh psychotic Brad and fell for both of
the brothers Fraser, except she didn't really love James and left a week
later. At least Chloe returned last year bearing the good news that
Selina and Steven were back together.
37. Sarah Lewis - 29 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Luisa Hastings-Edge
Sarah shot three people in her three months on the show. She missed
Jesse from point black range, then shot Noah before shooting herself.
However we never saw her shooting herself so despite it being witnessed
by half the bay rumour persisted that she was the Summer Bay stalker.
Dramatic license and all that. Oh, and she killed Felix.
=. Cassie Turner - 29 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Sharni Vinson
Cassie has divided opinions in her year or so on the show. Complaints
have ranged from being too orange, too skinny and too old for the role.
Others feel that Sharni is a skilled actress and age is just a number.
OK, here's a joke. What's brown and sticky?
39. Donald Fisher - 25 points
DOWN 27
Played by Norman Coburn
Fisher in numbers
4 children, 3 dead
3 wives, 2 divorces
3 houses, 1 burns down
2 grandchildren, 1 paralysed
No wonder he decided to leave the bay. Personally I would have done it
earlier than 15 years.
40. Ailsa O'Rourke/Hogan/Stewart - 23 points
DOWN 14
Played by Judy Nunn and Nancye Hayes
Probably everyone's favourite convicted killer. Knifed her father to
death, but we will forgive her for that. He apparently wasn't very nice.
Throughout her 13 years in the show she had numerous breakdowns and was
then left to die in a lake by her son. She died of a heart attack after
lifting boxes after missing heart appointment earlier in the day. A bit
of an anti-climax.
41. Dani Sutherland - 19 points
DOWN 25
Played by Tammin Sursok
Dani was raped by Kane in 2001 and spent the next few years being
aggreived by this. However being upset that someone raped you is
obviously not a natural reaction and huge groups of fans thought Dani
should just let it go so "oh so cute" Kane and Kirsty could be together.
=. Shane Parrish - 19 points
DOWN 7
Played by Dieter Brummer
Shane appears to be the least popular half ot the middle 90's golden
couple. He arrived in the bay a young tearaway, but he got together with
Angel. Thereafter he wasn't quite as interesting.
43. Dan Baker - 18 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Tim Campbell
When Dan arrived in the bay, he didn't get any storylines. Slowly, but
surely has got more and more storylines and at the current moment is one
of the grounded characters in the show. If all else fails you can just
be a jolly nice man like Tim and everyone will love you.
44. Sophie Simpson - 17 points
DOWN 18
Played by Rebekah Elmaloglou
Sophie is another one who was big in her day and she got even bigger
when she fell pregnant with David Croft, played by superstar Guy Pearce.
No doubt had this been held ten years ago Sophie would have been a
challenger, but despite a few appearances in recent years, Sophie
support came in dribbles, rather than bursts.
45. Max Sutherland - 15 points
DOWN 15
How ironic that Sebastian should be right below his sister. You always
wondered if she was one of the reasons that Seb got the job. Max, it's
fair to say wasn't everyone's favourite character, but obviously some
must like him.
46. Paris Burnett - 14 points
UP 10
Played by Rhett Gilies
Paris arrived in Summer Bay to be principal of the school, had a
relationship with Irene and then had to leave. A year later he arrived
in Summer Bay to be principal of the school, had a relationship with
Irene, stayed a little longer and then left.
=. Nick Smith - 14 points
DOWN 25
Played by Matt Juarez and Chris Egan
Nick Smith arrived firstly in 1999, and then again in 2000 looking
completely different. Got on well with Duncan, which was no surprise as
both were a bit bratty and had short tempers. Both also had a liking for
Jade and stealing cars. Nick left to become famous in Hollywood, whilst
Chris Egan left to become famous in Hollywood.
48. Jesse McGregor - 13 points
DOWN 16
Played by Ben Unwin
Jesse another one of the drivers that decided to take a pit stop, with
two stints over a period of nine years. Never far from breaking the law,
he also got to a clifftop twice to have a wedding. He got married zero
times. He also had a proposal turned down. At least he got rid off that
horrible early haircut.
=. Edward Dunglass - 13 points
UP 8
Played by Stephen James King
Edward was the bay first Goth. So in true Home and Away, stereotyping
they decided to make Edward dark and mysterious, and making him doing
totally different things to the rest of the bay. He didn't break the
Home and Away tradition of getting married before the big 2-0 however.
Probably dead now, he had Huntingdon's, but we can't be sure, he hasn't
been mentioned since 2001.
=. Beth Hunter - 13 points
DOWN 37
Played by Clarissa House
Go pick up a stone, fill the bath with water and drop the stone in the
bath. What you see there is exactly what has happened to Beth. Two years
ago she was the new Pippa, now along with Tony she has become the new
Milko, almost invisible. |
