51. Jade Sutherland - 12 points
DOWN 19
Played by Kate Garven
Jade, probably the least used of the Sutherland sisters, completely
overshadowed by the ongoing Kirsty/Kane/Dani triangle that lasted about
two years. Then we discovered that she wasn't a Sutherland sister and in
fact was a Degroot daughter. She then left.
52. Leah Poulos/Patterson/Baker - 11 points
UP 4
Played by Ada Nicodemou
Leah has been around for six years, but hasn't done particularly well in
either of the two awards. Possibly if I'd been hanging around Home and
Away websites during her heyday in 2001 she would have done better. Now
she offers the show solid, but unspectactular. Some may say boring.
=. Lance Smart - 11 points
UP 4
Played by Peter Vroom
Lance and Martin spent the first few years trying to outdo each other in
the stupidness stakes. We've got no result on the winner, but Lance was
thrown out of the army for flattening someones car in a tank.
54. Scott Hunter - 9 points
DOWN 12
Played by Kip Gamblin
Scott was brought in and subsequently spent the best part of two years
as Dani's boyfriend, rather than a bona fide character in his own right.
Dani then left and Scott found himself right in the middle of one of the
most unpopular stories in recent years. Even Kip didn't like it.
55. Carly Morris/Lucini - 7 points
DOWN 11
Played by Sharyn Hodgson
Carly was one of the original Fletcher's and of the seven original
actors, only Sally outstayed her. Unhappy at the move at the start, she
soon settled and fell for Ben Lucini, a character played by superstar
Julian McMahon. She then married Julian McMahon's character Ben. When
Julian McMahon's portrayal of Ben was written out of the show Carly
followed him.
Oh, did I mention that Julian McMahon once appeared in Home and Away.
=. Jack Wilson - 7 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Daniel Amalm
His bio on the site says that he was one of the most dire character
ever. I didn't think he was that bad, but horses for courses and all
that. Sally obviously didn't think he was that bad, Jack was her first
serious boyfriend.
=. Rachel Armstrong - 7 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Amy Mathews
Rachel is relatively new to the bay, but in a just a few weeks she has
saved Kim's life, then walked into a hostage situation, before then
getting into a relationship with one of her patients.
=. Steven Matheson - 7 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Adam Willits
The last of the original Fletcher family characters to make the list. He
moved to the Fletcher's after his parents were burned to death. So, just
to rub it in his uncle was then killed in a fire as well. Has had two
stints on the show, his second ending after Selina whom he was about to
marry was kidnapped. They broke up, but are apparently back together.
59. Jude Lawson - 6 points
DOWN 15
Played by Ben Steel
Noah's less well known borther, Jude, was on the show for less than two
years. He went out with Shauna, she broke his heart, so it's obvious
that next time she ran into town Jude would drop everything and get back
with her.
=. Joey Rainbow - 6 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Alex O'Han
If you get past the rather out there name, Joey moved into the then
all-female Beach House so it was perhaps predicatable that he would go
crazy sooner or later. He didn't exactly have the best start to life
with his father being cult leader Saul.=. Sam Marshall - 6 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Ryan Clark
A cute little Sam, responsible for burning Adam's house as an ten year
old just because Adam was responsible for killing Bobby. Sam also
decided it was a good idea to go swimming in a raging torrent and
Michael died saving him. Sam, like Sally. grew up on our screens.
62. Alex Bennett - 5 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Nick Freedman
Alex is Saul's son and therefore Joey's brother. He only lasted on the
show for a year in which he had a relationship with Shannon and briefly
went death. You only need one fan to enter the list.
=. Tony Holden - 5 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Jon Sivewight
Tony came into the show, conveniently a single father the same age as
Beth. However if you want me to list his storylines for the past year I
don't think it would go much past two.
=. Harry Reynolds/Keller - 5 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Justin Melvey
Ah, well Irish Fan must have voted. Harry came in with an interesting
storyline where he had been forced to change his identity. Once that
storyline had finished Harry entered a few relationships, but
essentially did nothing till he left in 2001.
=. Eduardo Bearo - 5 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by a Stuffed Toy
How galling must it be to think that a stuffed toy is more fondly
remembered than you are? Bevan Lee had a thing for bears in 2004 and
brought this one in as a gift for Kirsty by Kane. Some may argue he was
the best actor out of the three. Eduardo was voted best supporting actor
in the 2004/5 BTTB Oscar/Logies, which does not say much for the
competition! Eduardo's modest memoirs also proved popular with BTTB
members.
The eagle-eyed among you may spot that it is in fact not Eduardo
Bearo below, but Vinnie in a bear costume. Trust us, we are searching
hard for Eduardo Bearo.
=. Peter "Tug" O'Neale - 5 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Tristan Bancks
Bad boy comes into the show, bad boy gets fostered by Summer Bay family.
Bad boys leaves show a credit to the world. Currently married to Sarah
with two kids.
67. Peta Janossi - 4 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Aleetza Wood
Peta had a really interesting entrance story, involving living off her
dead grandmother's benefits. When this was discovered she was fostered
by the Nashes and eventually went into a relationship with Edward, two
of the shows most original characters. They soon left to travel the
world.
=. Damien Roberts - 4 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Matt Doran
Damien was Irene's youngest kid. He arrived in the bay, following his
sister Fin there. He was a quieter character, but still managed to get
Selina pregnant on one of his umpteen visits back to the bay after
leaving the show.
=. Charlie McKinnon
NEW ENTRY
Played by Matt Levett
As this character hasn't yet appeared in the UK, so as not to spoil
anyone I won't mention anything about him. Still, must be good because
at least one person voted for him.
=. Celia Stewart - 4 points
DOWN 23
Played by Fiona Spence
Celia was the original Summer Bay busybody, annoying the Baysiders for
the first two years of the show. She was rapped out of the show and when
Ray Meagher wanted a few months off, he was zoomed off to Africa to save
Celia who had been taken hostage. At least Celia has now modernised her
hairstyle.
71. Tracey Thompson - 3 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Sarah Enright
Another character yet to appear in the UK, so I won't spoil it for
anyone, or at least try to cover my ignorance.
=. Martin Dibble - 3 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Craig Thompson
The second part of the Troublesome Twosome of the early years, Martin is
said by Colleen to have led Lance off the rails. However by 2000 Martin
was a millionaire, except he wasn't. It was all an act as he didn't want
to come back a failure.
=. Meg Bowman - 3 points
DOWN 42
Played by Cathy Godbold
Meg and her mother Julie came to the Bay in 1992. Blake fell in love
with Meg. However just to get the tear ducts flowing Meg was dying of
leukemia. In one of Home and Away's highest rating episodes, Meg died in
Blake's arms as the sun rose/
=. James Fraser - 3 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Michael Picirilli
James follwed his brother in the show, urged by his mother who wanted
him to marry Chloe so she could still see Olivia, Lachie's child.
However Kristy Wright decided to leave and James ended up in his own
hospital subdrama within the show.
=. Josh West - 3 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Dan Collopy
Josh arrived in the bay as the spoilt child of a CEO. He got the job as
a lifeguard as he wanted to make it on his own. He was then partly
responsible for Charlotte's death and then decided he wanted to be a
multi-billionaire after all. He was bankrupt at the end of 2003, but by
2005 he was back with a beard and a plan to flatten the bay.
=. Blake Dean - 3 points
DOWN 21
Played by Les Hill
Blake Dean arrived with his sister Karen on the Stewart's doorsteps,
their mother an old prison friend of Ailsa's. Blake's main storyline
happened also to be Meg's main storyline so I won't go over that again.
Has broken up with Sophie approximately 10 times over the past four
years.
77. Alex Poulos - 2 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Danny Raco
The single voter that voted for Alex Poulos couldn't remember his second
name and simplu called him Leah's brother. Alex didn't do much memorable
so it is therefore quite understandable.
=. Kelly Watson - 2 points
NEW ENTRY
Played by Katrina Hobbs
Kelly was the token doctor of the mid 90's. She also had a rather sleazy
relationship with Travis which she ended soon after he proposed to her
by running away. Interesting fact - her brother played Marc Edwards in
2005.
=. Adam Cameron - 2 points
DOWN 27
Played by Mat Stevenson
Adam was responisble for Bobby's death. Everyone in the bay hated him.
Adam then rescued Sam, despite Sam was halfway through burning his house
down. Everyone in the bay forgave him. Adam returned to the bay in 1999
as he was working for Bonza Burger. He was accused of perving on Shauna
and his name was tarnished again. However it was then proven it wasn't
Adam.
=. Michael Ross - 2 points
DOWN 21
Played by Dennis Coard
Michael was Pippa's second husband. He helped continue the long line of
fostering. However after Sam went swimming in some rapids, Michael
jumped in and saved him. However he drowned himself. Interesting fact,
he is married to on-screen wife Debra Lawrance.
81. Milko - 1 point
NEW ENTRY
Played within Sally's mind
I'd dearly like to bring you a picture of Milko, but I couldn't find one
that had the necessary quality to grace the site, so here's a picture of
chair instead. However don't think that this means Milko's performances
were wooden. Home and Away owes a debt to Milko; if he hadn't been so
careless as to get stuck in Summer Bay, Home and Away may never have
happened.
=. Felix Walters - 1 point
NEW ENTRY
Played by Josh Lawson
If you're getting bored with the continuing Zoe/Eve/Sarah drama, this is
where it was all started. Felix had a rather unsatisfactory article
written about him by so he started sending Dani things like pig heads.
He was then beat up and killed by his girlfriend Sarah giving him
crystal meths.
=. Mitch McColl - 1 point
NEW ENTRY
Played by Cameron Welsh and Mitchell McMahon
Mitch, despite Mitchell McMahon's best efforts to turn him into a total
sleazeball was a fairly likable character. He was at the same time
fairly forgettable as well.
=. Mikey Dunn - 1 point
NEW ENTRY
Played by Trent Atkinson
Mikey had two stints during 2002 and 2003, and his autism led him to
getting into a few rather interesting situations. He went on the school
roof, was thought to have ran into the ocean naked despite not being
able to swim and ruined Sally's wedding dress. Scott took him on as a
deckhand, but it didn't work out.
=. Justine Welles - 1 point
DOWN 36
Played by Bree Desborough
Justine had a baby die in her care, decided to row out to sea in the
middle of cyclone and once appeared naked in a play. However she is
probably best known for her nose piercing.
=. Matt Wilson - 1 point
NEW ENTRY
Played by Greg Benson
Matt Wilson, credited as Surfer in the Pilot spent four years doing very
little before simply just disappearing, before returning 11 years later
at the sesquicentenary.
=. Dylan Russell - 1 point
DOWN 25
Played by Brett Hicks-Maitland
Dylan was Angie's son and initially Rhys' son as well, which caused
problems when he started dating Kirsty, who was Rhys' daughter, but you
already knew that. Dylan was then not Kirsty's brother after the
infamous blood non-matches and after killing his mother. He then helped
Irene find Josie.
=. Shelley Sutherland - 1 point
DOWN 31
Played by Paula Forrest
Shelley, the fourth caravan park mum, spent two years doing non-stop
counselling before having to leave the bay probably more through
exhaustion than everything else. After a failed relationship with David,
she got back with Rhys who she had divorced a year before. As you do.
=. Ryan Baker - 1 point
NEW ENTRY
Played by Isaac Gorman
Ryan is Dan and Amanda's son. Despite being young he has already gone
through being kidnapped and having a step-father old enough to be his
great grandfather. Ryan obviously won a cute little kid vote her.
=. Joel Nash - 1 point
NEW ENTRY
Played by David Woodley
Joel arrived in the bay where his brother Travis was already living. In
just two years his house was burnt down, he broke his leg, he was
dragged from a burning his car and wife had a child with one of his
mates. Life is never dull in the bay.
=. Nurse Julie - 1 point
NEW ENTRY
Played by Lisa Hayson-Philips
For a character that does as little as Nurse Julie, she has built up a
huge following. Her storylines have included admitting Kirsty to
hospital, admitting Hayley to hospital, admitting Kim to hospital. In
fact, possibly the only three scenes she's had in three years that don't
involve admitting people to hospital are Flynn's wedding, Flynn's last
day and Flynn's funeral.
=. Constable Lara Fitzgerald - 1 point
NEW ENTRY
Played by Rebecca George
The thing about these polls is one man's meat is another man's poison or
otherwards someone votes for a character that you've never heard of. We
hope this is a picture of Lara because we weren't exactly sure who she
was. |
