My Dear Beth, how do I express the deep and profound sorrow that I am feeling? I had so looked forward to sharing the joys and antics of our shared, and much loved, grandson Archie, and it pains me to think he will never know what a wonderful person his grandmother was. Your care and compassion for all of those around you, your kindness to me and to my son, and of late your support when I needed it most, have all meant a great deal to me. You have been a true and loyal friend, and your postcards and letters in these recent dark and lonely months will be greatly missed. You have taught me the true meaning of friendship.
