"I'm not the one who put you here. Your actions did that."
With Tony at a loss as to handle Lucas's increasingly volatile behaviour, he decided to ask Jack to have a word with him. He told Lucas that they were all worried about him and asked him what was going on. Lucas told him that he didn't know what living there would be like and wanted to be left alone. Jack made it clear that his behaviour was not acceptable but the message didn't seem to be registering with Luc. According to Jack, his little brother had "more angst than Eminem". After his chat with Lucas, Jack told Tony that he thought it would be a good idea to let him have his space and get whatever it is out of his system. Tony, however, wasn't quite so sure about the more relaxed approach Jack wanted to take.
Perhaps if Jack knew that Lucas was going to spraypaint Barry Hyde's flat, he would have taken a tougher previously but nevertheless he felt action had to be taken and suggested they arrest Lucas to get him to talk and realize the magnitude of what he'd done. After being left to stew for a while following a grilling from Sergeant McGrath, Jack entered the interview room and delivered the good news that he wasn't going to be formally charged. Jack made sure his brother realized that he needed to take this as a wake-up call and that next time it might not be so easy to get off without being charged.
"Can I ask why you're bringing this up now?"
The events earlier that day appeared to have been the wake-up call Lucas needed and when out of the blue he asked Jack whether he thought about their mum, Jack twigged that his recent behaviour was likely to be related. Jack told Tony and Beth about their conversation and reasoned that he could be acting up because this was the first time he'd had a mother figure in his life - a hefty thing to deal with. After an honest chat with her at the beach, Lucas was on his way to getting back on track.
"No. Shh! That's...that's enough. Thank you."
When Lucas wanted to take things to the next level with Belle, Jack told him of his first time after the year 10 formal with a (according to Lucas) "hot blonde chick that made the state swim team" called Karen Stanford. Jack told him to enjoy it and that things would come naturally.
"Do you know how creepy that sounds?"
Following the Naomi debarcle that seemingly took over his life, Lucas started to write a love story and felt he needed to immerse himself in the subject. To do this he camped outside Naomi's flat for a few nights to follow her and give him more details. His 'cover' was blown, however, when she saw him and phoned Jack. He was not happy to say the least and told Lucas that stalking her constituted harrasment. Lucas told him that he was nearly finished with the story but Jack just didn't want to hear it. Naomi and Lucas later came to an agreement that she could publish the story and from then on we didn't see Lucas outside her flat, so let's hope his stalking days are over!
