"You ready to turn on that famous Holden charm?"
And turn it on they did! When they first arrived it didn't take the Holdens long to integrate themselves in the community. Their closeness was immediately noticed and Beth commented "They seem like a close family" followed by Alf " I don't reckon you'd meet nicer people". When Beth popped around with a casserole she was embarrassed to discover that the boys had prepared a "home cooked banquet" themselves and didn't need her little casserole! Jack and Lucas spend their first few days ribbing each other and Tony who they thought was "due for some action!".
"I didn't bring up my boys to be irresponsible liars!"
When Jack returned to work after his losing the hearing in one ear, Lucas found out things weren't as back to normal as Jack was making out. When Jack went on a stakeout, Lucas thought he shouldn't go but Jack told him to keep his mouth shut. Martha also discovered that Jack was lying and confided her fears to Lucas. Tony sensed something was the matter and made them tell him the truth as he said they had made a pact some years ago that they would be open and honest at all times, no matter what. They then told Tony the truth and he went mad with Jack when he came home and made him tell his boss the truth.
"I just want to get sentimental for 5 minutes"..... "5? I'll be puking in 2!"
When the Holdens and the Hunters decided to move in together, Jack decided to stay in the 'bachelor pad' instead. The night before the big move they had a party for Martha's birthday which allowed everyone to let their hair down with a few drinks and a game or two of Twister! However, Tony halted the party before it got out of hand and sent everyone home. Lucas tried to move into his new place early (with Matilda) but Tony put a stop to it. Then a drunk Jack told Tony "I love you Dad" before trying to kiss him! The next morning Tony took his wedding ring off as he packed up the boxes. As it was the first time they all wouldn't be living together, Tony wanted to take a photograph before they left but Lucas pointed out they were only moving next door. When they left Jack admitted to Martha that he was going miss them despite pretending he was fine about it.
"Let's hit the waves"
When Lucas left for Uni it was the end of an era for the Holdens and to celebrate the boys went off for a last surf, which Tony said was a family tradition. Their last scene together was reminiscent of when they first came to the Bay with Lucas joking with Jack that his next book will be about a cop that can't surf. Putting the jokes aside Lucas told Jack to "look after Dad" before they headed out for their final surf.
