Most Popular Character 2006: Nil Points

You'll have noticed that less than 100 characters have made the 'Most Popular Character' list. There have of course been more than 100 characters in Home and Away's history. I'm not even going to speculate the number characters who have made the closing credits of the show. There have, however, been approximately 125 characters who have made the opening credits. So here are the unlucky characters who haven't quite made it into our 'Most Popular' list. The actor and actresses names have been removed to save them from more embarrassment.

Tom Fletcher

Tom was the original caravan park dad. Unfortunately he died in 1990 which is about the same time many of Home and Away's current viewers were born.

Frank Morgan

Frank was the kid who started this whole fostering lark off. After moving to the bay with the Fletchers armed with 80's mullet, he managed two weddings in two years.

Lynn Davenport

The first of the original Fletchers to leave, lasting less than 150 episodes. Some may say she had incredible foresight with all the pain and terror that was to occur over the coming two decades.

Roo Stewart

Many might say who, but she is Alf's daughter and Martha's mum. She left with Frank after initially ditching him at the altar a year previously. She currently lives in the USA.

Neville McPhee

After he was dropped from the show he apparently found it was because of his age. When they wanted him to return in 2000 for Sally's wedding, Frank declined so poor Neville had a heart attack.

Floss McPhee

Floss returned to the bay in 2004 dying from cancer. She was looking sick, feeling sick. Then it was discovered there was nothing wrong with her and we all lived happily ever after.

Viv Newton

I can just hear the calls of "Who, she?". Well get used to it, there is a few non-entities coming up here. She might have been good, but she hasn't appeared for 16 years and probably not mentioned in the last 15.

Emma Jackson

Home and Away once starred the lesser Minogue sister. However, you'd probably need to convince your parent to remember Emma.

Grant Mitchell

This East End hard man surprisingly failed to chart. Oh, wrong soap. Seven managed to tempt global music star Craig McLachlan away from Neighbours and gave him free reign over his character. He lasted about a year. Let's just say that Henry Ramsay was a much better haircut.

Karen Dean

Probably most famous for killing David Croft, played by Guy Pearce. Apparently he's quite famous. The actress who played Karen Dean had movie success as well, everyone get their copy of Muriel's Wedding out. Even if you don't like the story, there's no reason not to listen to ABBA's music.

Ben Lucini

Depending on what order you read tonights uploads, you may have already noticed that Julian McMahon played this character. It was nip and tuck as to whether I would mention it. Once spent an episode chasing chickens.

Lucinda Croft

Ah, the days of real good love triangles. Lou was in some way related to Don and ended up staying with him.

Simon Fitzgerald

Blake's friend, signed from Neighbours to give us another pointless character.

Greg Marshall

Greg was Sam's father and Bobby's husband. Decided to go on a seven year truck journey after Bobby died, leaving Sam to have approximately 15 parents as he was passed around the bay.

Nick Parrish

Shane's brother, local cop. In those days, having a cop meant you had someone's purse stolen, today it means that half the cast will be dead by the end of the year.

Finlay Roberts

Finlay was the first of the Roberts clan to reach the bay, escaping her mum Irene. She nearly drowned searching a wreck. At the time you could be forgiven for thinking she was looking for her mum.

Haydn Ross

Last time we held this poll I hadn't heard of Hadyn. Now I know that the Sutherland's weren't the only family to have problems with gambling and mineshafts.

Luke Cunningham

Luke was a terribly boring character who is probably best remembered for either being terribly boring or playing his saxophone. Let's say it isn't a surprise that he failed to score.

Roxy Miller

I may well have voted for Roxy, but my pride got in my way. I'm just a jealous guy. OK, if having to read a page about characters you've never heard of before wasn't bad enough, you've got to put up with my jokes as well.

Curtis Reed

Shannon's brother, but she wasn't his sister, because they were actually girlfriend and boyfriend, as well as being foster brother and sister or something like thing that. Answers on a postcard.

Rob Storey

Followed Matt in just dispearing off somewhere and never returning. His destination, his boatshed. I wonder if Scott found a skeleton in 2003.

Donna Bishop

Not many people have surnames that begin with the letter Q. The actress who played Donna does however.

Travis Nash

Lasted four years which is longer than most. Asked two people to marry him in the same year which is also more than most.

Liam Tanner

Interesting fact - one of the former student union presidents at my university. That fact is more interesting than the character himself.

Casey Mitchell

The recurring surname with no relation hits. Casey was once seen as a character that could go far, she did when she left to be with her mum.

Stephanie Mboto

Somalian refugee who had strange storyline involving old wreck burning. Probably most famous for dying rather than living.

Rebecca Fisher/Nash

Rebecca racked up four more actresses than she did points. She married Travis and followed her father into teaching. She took over from Pippa, but then decided that she didn't want Travis to die so they left on a boat.

Lachlan Fraser

The other Fraser brother. The third actor to be poached from Neighbours. The third not to score a single point. These high profile signings have all proven to be as effective as Rafael Scheidt was for Celtic.

Tiegan Brook

No relation to Angel. Another of these couple of years character of yesteryear that have made this list so long that no one has any reason to talk about any longer.

Aaron Welles

Fairly recent, but still forgettable. Left to be part of a band. Most thought he should just be banned.

Tom Nash

So it's a washout for the two Tom's. Whereas Tom Fletcher was anything, but a washout, Tom Nash was a terrible creation, demeaning the name Tom. It's strange how such a memorable character such as Gypsy can be created at the same time as Tom was.

Natalie Nash

Continued the trend of the Caravan Park mum requiring to change her face at least once. Despite being the most risquee of the mums, she is still with her original husband.

Duncan Stewart

I voted for him last time. Then they decided to make him sorry for the trouble he had caused and uber-brat Duncan lost his shine.

Shauna Bradley

Liz likes Shauna. However she obviously doesn't like her enough to vote for her and by the looks of it, netiher does anyone else. Helped bring to an end an story-arc lasting since 1988 with some strange looking woman claiming to be Ailsa.

Judith Ackroyd

School headmistress for a period during 2000. Left to look after another school in Switzerland. Had relationships with Don and Joel. Her son was interesting however.

Ken Smith

One of the 2000 brigade who each lasted approximately 12 months before leaving again. That's not really excuse however as other characters made it. Perhaps Ken just wasn't interesting enough.

Rhys Sutherland

Some guy rapes your daughter. He then starts going out with your other daughter. So you try and be a loving father and protect your daughter, by trying to stop her from seeing an unconvicted rapist. Everyone hates you for it.

Brodie Hanson

Fails to make whilst her fiance did. At least we presume that she is still engaged. If you leave the show it's rare anything will ever happen to you, unless you need to completely rewrite history for a small story five years later.

Seb Miller

Drops out of the points this time. The surprise was probably that he made the points the last time. He came in with a storyline linking him back to 1988, so what do they do. Give him some of the most trivial storylines and the most nauseating relationship in the history of the show.

Charlotte Adams

Home and Away punchbag. Not only did her fiance Steve use her as one, the writers then deciced to heap as much misery on Charlotte as was possible. She was about to leave the show in a nice cheery way before she drowned and died.

Henry Hunter

For your character to have left less than a year ago and still receive no votes your character has to be pretty dismal. Henry did virtually nothing in one and half years, and what he did do was so boring it's not really worth mentioning.
