Most Popular Character 2012: 1-5
|
1. Sally Fletcher (124 points)
So, alas, we are at the end again and our winner for the fourth time in a row is Sally. I wondered whether Sally's popularity would hold after her departure and whilst she neither scores the same number of points or had quite the same monotony of 5's as Loreen had 12's, she still holds her place as Home and Away's most popular character. We should remember it was not always thus, with Sally only scoring a lowly position in our very first poll before Dan Bennett thrust her to the forefront of the show.

2. Dexter Walker (88 points)
A new inclusion in the top 5 and by far the most popular character of the current cast. Perhaps it shows that whilst guns and gang violence can be popular, a lot of people also like old-fashioned humour as well. Then again, what do they say about the inclusion of the world "bubbly" in lonely heart ads. Oh, yes, that means you're annoying and if it happens that you don't like Dex, he can be extremely grating. |

3. Darryl 'Brax' Braxton (80 points)
It's fair to say that amongst the staff there isn't a great deal of love for the Braxtons, but there was also a certain surprise, when half way through the poll, Darryl and his cohorts were actually behind characters like Shannon and Celia. Alas, in one of the patterns that sometimes appear in the voting, votes started coming in in bunches. Do fandoms rally their troops on the poll or are people inadvertantly swayed by those posts around them. |

4. Aden Jefferies (79 points)
Aden started back as one of those guest characters in 2005 whose only purpose was to rile the good folk of Summer Bay, but the action for Aden really started to happen from 2008 onwards as we got to delve into his homelife of troubled brothers and abusive fathers. Thankfully the good folk of Summer Bay are never one to hold a grudge, unless the storyline calls for "hold a grudge despite all evidence showing otherwise" |

5. Charlie Buckton (78 points)
Much the same as Jack, though I suspect that Charlie was actually a bit better at her job and did slightly less damage. Still, the end result was the same, she got shot in the season finale and then we had a couple of episodes of the new season where we could mourn the loss. |
So, what about 2014, will Sally win for a fifth time, despite having left the show for 6 years (if she doesn't return) or could it be someone we don't know exists yet!
