Well, we've now moved out of how many points have been scored and it to place positions, not only because the numbers fall nicely, but because 7, 8, 9 and 10 points is quite a spread. We contine the tradition of couples being grouped together with a couple of psychos, a couple of guest characters from the past years, a couple of mid 90's bad boys, a couple and a couple of people that can't be fitted into any sort of couple.
60=. Hugh Sullivan - 10 points
NEW ENTRY
Even though his main stint was in 2007, Hugh was first seen in 2006 when he went out on a date with Leah. He returned in 2007 to take up a position at the NDH. Kim and Rachel were going trough a rough patch at the time, so Hugh was often there when Rachel needed someone else to talk to. However, as the weeks went on, Hugh and Rachel started to become more than friends. Hugh had just been offered a hospital position in Johannesburg, and asked Rachel if she would leave Kim and go with him. She had a couple of hours to think, but decided to stay in the Bay. Hugh then left the Bay for Johannesburg. Many liked his character and have high hopes for his return. Even though he only got 10 points, it wouldn't be untrue to say that he was one of the most popular guests of the year.
60=. Lily Nelson - 10 points
NEW ENTRY
Even though she wasn't around for long, Lily became quite popular amongst fans. She was one of the first callers to the Summer Bay helpline and phoned because she was being hit by her boyfriend. He was sent to jail and Lily decided to move on with her life somewhere else, after almost drowning trying to save Matilda. Easy come, easy go...
62. Corey Henderson - 9 points
NEW ENTRY
Ah yes, Corey Henderson was the highlight of 2005 for me. He was the Bay's new police officer, and he was Jack's new work partner. It was then when things starting to go a bit wrong for Irene. She was getting nauseous and she was hallucinating. We soon found out that Corey had been slipping Mercury in to her drinks. The reason? Irene had sent his father to jail during Jury duty! His father then killed himself in prison, hence the reason why Corey wanted to get revenge. All this didn't matter for me... he was still my favourite H&A Coppa!
63=. Jude Lawson - 8 points
DOWN 4
Noah's brother was the older, more sensible of the Lawsons, having bought Noah up from quite an early age. He was also a father figure to Seb when he first arrived in the bay. Shauna very quickly became his girlfriend and they were a solid couple but eventually split up when she had feelings for Jude's friend Flynn Saunders. Jude moved on with Doctor Charlotte Adams and she became pregnant with his twins. despite everything though it was clear his heart was still with Shauna and when a tragic accident saw him lose his babies he drifted back into Shauna's arms, only for Charlotte to drown. She was rescued just long enough for Jude to lie that he loved her before she slipped away and Jude returned to Shauna. He left the Bay for Melbourne when Shauna got a job there and was never heard of again, not even when Noah was cruelly shot dead.
63=. Rebecca Nash - 8 points
NEW ENTRY
Rebecca was Fisher's daughter and made several appearances during the holidays of boarding school. Beautiful and talented but also spoilt and used to getting her own way, in the early years of Home and Away, she struck up a close friendship with Steven Matheson, but they were separated when she returned to Boarding school. By the time she returned to The Bay as a teacher it seemed that she and fellow teacher Steven may finally get it together. It wasn't to be however and Rebecca quickly got together with housemate Travis Nash. Travis and Rebecca were an ideal couple who viewed life the same way. They moved into The Caravan Park together and took over looking after Pippa's foster children, but they were both free spirits and eventually decided on a life on the open seas. They married in a casual beach wedding and set out on a boat trip around the world.
Tragically since our last poll Belinda Emmett who played Rebecca has become the second of four actresses who played her, to die, following a long battle with cancer. Fond memories of a beautiful actress may account for her appearance as a new entry in our poll.
63=. Sarah Lewis - 8 points
DOWN 26
Sarah...
Even though she was kinda, you know, psycho... she was still adorable. She had a boyfriend called Felix. She loved him to bits. So much so that she killed him. How romantic! Sarah then went to a parallel universe within her messed-up brain. There, she believed that the Dani-crew killed Felix. She started playing games with them. She put poison in the air vents in the Surf Club (as you do!) and she put acid on Dani's soap...which Dani used... which she truly deserved! She shot Jesse, and then held everybody hostage at Leah's house, resulting in the death of Noah and herself. All-in-all, Sarah was the best villain to ever hit Summer Bay.
63=. Tug O'Neale - 8 points
DOWN 2
Tug was the bad boy who nobody was willing to give a chance. Bobby though, saw echoes of herself in him and gave him a home in The Beach House. He repayed her by turning his life around. He fell in love with Sarah Tompsen and despite her guardian Alf's disapproval, they became a firm couple. His hatred of Shane Parrish led to a long running fued with both trying to get one over each other. Tug's earlier bullying of Shane's best friend Damien caused Shane to use Sarah to get at him by kissing her onstage in a school play. Shane also had him framed for something he didn't do. Eventually Tug left the Bay for a new life on her father's plantation, with Sarah.
67=. Edward Dunglass - 7 points
DOWN 19
Summer Bays very own Goth. Edward was unique, the type of character that home and Away had never done before. He was opinionated, dressed differently, highly intelligent and had a little disease called Huntington's. Edward's unique outlook on life won him legions of fans and in Summer Bay he found the love of his life Peta Janossi. His scathing attacks on other people, not least on his long suffering mother Judith, meant that you either loved or hated Edward. He left Summer Bay to travel Europe with Peta.
67=. Peta Janossi - 7 points
NO CHANGE
To maintain the same position in the top 5 is usually easy enough. However, finishing 67th twice in a row requires some sort of skill beyond comprehension. You need to have lost less fans than Shane bellow, whilst at the same time, not losing out to too many of those pesky newcomers. I guess there's something kind of sweet that she's finished equal with the love of her life, but then again, deep down I think I have a heart.
