Scriptwriting Competition 2008 - Rules

1. This competition is open to registered members of the BttB forum only, but not to those involved in the judging of the competition.

2. All writers for the 17 and over age group must be 17 years of age or older on 1st January 2008. All writers entering the 16 and under section must be 16 or under on 1st January 2008.

3. All entries must the original work of the author and any entry which forms part of a script which has been produced, sold or is currently under option elsewhere is not eligible.

4. Adaptations of fan fics books, plays, or other source material written by another author are not eligible under any circumstances; nor are scripts adapted from fan fics books, plays, or other source material written by you if your source material has been sold, produced, or is currently under option to any third party. Scripts adapted from your own fan fics, self-published books, plays, or other source materials are eligible if you have retained all rights to your work.

7. Once a script has been entered in the competition, under no circumstances will we accept substitutions of new drafts or corrected pages.

8. The Closing Date for entries is 12:00GMT on Friday 21st March 2008. Your entry should be e mailed to competition@backtothebay.com along with the completed entry form.

9. The judge's decision is final. Anyone attempting to influence the judge's decision will be disqualified.

10. The winning entries in each category, together with the short listed entries, will be published on the main site. BttB also retains the right to publish all other entries on the forum.

11. Prize winners will be posted on www.backtothebay.net on Monday 7th April 2008.

12. All entries published on BttB will be published with a disclaimer indicating that the copyright rests with the author. It will be the responsibility of the author to pursue any breaches of that copyright. BttB would remind entrants that whilst they can copyright their work they cannot copyright the idea behind it. Similarities in ideas frequently occur and BttB does not accept responsibility if material of a similar nature subsequently appears elsewhere.

13. No responsibility will be accepted by BttB for late or lost entries, or for fraudulently submitted entries (e.g. An entry submitted by a 30 year old claiming to be 12!)

14. For the stand alone scene we will accept scripts in Word Formats, Rich Text or Final Draft. Please see the FAQ's for guidance.
