Happy Birthday To You....
rachel&kim replied to loveangelmusicbaby's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
Happy Birthday Amy, although it's over now in Australia! -
I agree wholeheartedly with you cicerid. I for one am completely sick of them as a couple and I wish they'd just break up for good already. However, when they first started to flirt and get together, I was a huge fan of the pairing but the constant drama and break ups/make ups really turned me off them. But it doesn't all need to be like that. Take Rachel and Kim for example (sorry, I can't help it ), for the first year or so of their relationship they had drama after drama, literally weekly, but they didn't break up once. So there we have it, happy couple, lots of drama, the soap's no worse off. I really hope that, after the ongoing storyline is concluded they get a long period of time together to just be young and couply and maybe I will learn to love them again!

I had like permanent frown lines after watching that movie! It was confusing! But in the end it made sense, I thought it was good. I just watched Lord of the Rings 3, I forgot how long it is!

I bet it's her dad!! Aww Kirsty that chapter was sooo good! And it was so sweet, Tony being nervous Slightly concerned that you've saved the drama for next chapter which seems to be the actual wedding but I am SO happy to see you back and updating so YAY! Thank you! Can't wait for the next installment. -
Even though Annie doesn't do much (and that's the understatement of the year) I do like her and I wish she'd get a proper storyline. I think she has a lot of potential and, to me, she seems the most 'old school' home and away of the teens. Although I must confess, I thought she'd have matured a bit more since her introduction as the innocent farm girl. But I have faith, hopefully someday soon she'll get a proper storyline of her own and we'll get to see what Charlotte can really do.

Um, not really. Of course, different people will react and deal with such an experience differently and keep in mind that we never saw Joey directly after the rape, it's entirely possible that she did avoid people for a few days, however do you really think that people who have been raped are that incapable of interacting with people afterwards? In high school, my friend was raped and nobody knew because she never acted any differently than normal. We were shocked when she confessed about it to us a week later. And after the rape she had no problem with males, she actually turned into quite the slut and ended up getting pregnant three times in one year. It totally effed up her life and, fyi, she never reported it. We've already seen that Joey is extremely strong. She took all the abuse that Robbo was dishing out to her on the trawler and never let it get to her because she wasn't going to let herself be scared out of her job by him. She still has her moments of weakness (see: her breakdown in the storeroom) but I see her taking the same approach towards the rape as she did towards Robbo's behaviour on the boat, she's doing her best not to let it affect her. She's a lesbian that was raped by a man, I saw her asking Nicole out as her asserting herself in her sexuality, rather than her actually having any interest in dating Nicole. It was a way to assure herself that just because she's had (forced) sex with a man, it doesn't make her any less gay. That's exactly the same thing as happened to my friend. She was date raped and never reported it, she seemed fine and completely the same as always other than the fact that she started to sleep around much more than she ever had before. I'm sure it did have a deep effect on her but it wasn't the one that I would have expected. I think in these situations, people always react differently. However, I do agree with you doola that we haven't had that much of a follow up of the rape, she hasn't had any screen time alone (that I can remember) to see what her reaction has been and how she is dealing with it. I hope they don't delve straight into and they do explore a bit more of the rape. And I'd love to see a scene with her and Aden when he comes clean about his past. I think it would be really touching. Although I think, if they were going to do that, it would have come when Aden was trying to persuade her to go to the cops. So they might ignore it. But either way, I'm looking forward to see what's coming next. And I really like Joey as a character, she's a lot different to anyone we've seen for a while and that's always refreshing to see.

It was a little bit of fuzzy warmth in the episode I liked it but yeah, I wish it could have gone to plan. I wonder if the hospital is their new gym in terms of scenes together! God forbid we should ever see them in their house! And definately thought there was a kiss missing after all that. But it was cute to see their big smiles!

I agree Red Ranger, I never really bought into the 'complete mental breakdown' argument because he maintained afterwards, calmly, to his doctor that his father deserved what he was getting. It was only after councilling that he admitted that what he'd been trying to do was wrong. So the fact is in court, when he was pleading not-guilty, he still believed that he'd been doing the right thing. And that never really sat right with me. Nor did the seemingly immediate re-acceptance of Aden into the bay. We didnt see anyone's reactions to the whole saga excepting Belle and Rachel. And even more than that, people that before wouldnt have given him the time of day (Irene, Alf, Geoff etc) suddenly seemed to believe that he was a good guy and forgot all about his trouble making of the past. It's not that I think he deserved to be a social outcast, it's that they spent so long concentrating on the, albeit very well done, build up that they seemed to let it go afterwards. But that seems to be the pattern with this show sometimes, with the Rachel/Kim break up they built up to it beautifully and completely dropped it after Kim left. The same with Martha's cancer, they seem to have completely let that go recently, there hasn't really been a mention of it in weeks, but that's for another thread.

Hopefully they don't have toooo much drama surrounding those and it goes fairly smoothly (wishful thinking I know!!) Whenevr I have second thoughts about Tony & Rachel as a couple I watch sexyluc (Kevin's Tachel music video) and it reminds me why I love them Aww thanks so much I just trawled through the Northern Districts Library and it was princess.sparkle that wrote those Jachel fics. I remember them well, they were great! I should check out that Tachel music video, I love making them. I've made one recently but it won't upload to youtube, stupid old computer. I'm thinking that for a while we'll have a smooth patch for Tony and Rachel, which will probably lead to less screetime (again). And if the do get married soon then I have a feeling it will be without the usual 'disaster' just because there have been so many disasters recently and I think the last drama-free wedding was Leah and Dan's - but I could be wrong about that. I think they'll save the drama for the birth of their baby, but again I don't think it will be anything particularly tragic given the recent loss of Tony's son. They wouldn't do that to the poor man! Would they?

Hey, thats only the recent storyline, yes right now Belle isnt confiding in Belle. But whenever there's something going on and its bothering them they talk to each other about it. I cant be bothered aguring with you all, because clearly we are not going to change each other's opinion. And someone mentioned earlier that the one reason i think tachel is a boring couple or i dont like them is because the have more screen time than adelle, thats not true I've always hated this couple and Tony. Just to avoid confrontation can someone actually tell me some examples where they have communicated to each other. Because I've never seen it. Some examples where they share their feelings to each other when something is bothering them, when they offer advice to each other to solve each other's problems and actually use that advice. Thanks... I don't think anyone wanted an argument. It's just the way you presented your opinion about the best couples poll was a bit provoking; especially in a very pro-Tachel environment. But conflicting opinions make for great discussion when they're calmly presented so don't stay away. And I think charmed60's done a fab job of showing that Tony and Rachel have been a very communicative couple in the past. I guess one thing they do have over Adelle is age and experience. They've both been through their teenage relationships so they've been through all of this already. We don't know about Tony earlier on but certainly with Kim and Rachel there was more secret keeping and look how that turned out. It's one of life's lessons that you experience and learn from and take to your next relationship. That's why it's very difficult to compare Adelle and Tachel I think, they're two very different couples at very different stages in their lives. Sorry, I completely rambled! Sorry if it makes no sense, I'm very tired!

Yeah I have one over at HAAC too, actually I think you read and reviewed - thanks! There was a point when they were both single and living together and I completely convinced myself they were going to get it on. But the writers screwed that one up by getting her with Tony - which incidentally worked out rather well, so it's not all bad! I thought I was going off Tony and Rachel as a couple but now I'm really looking forward to baby time Although I'm bracing myself; no birth or wedding goes off without a hitch.

Ha ha, I hate the expression 'lol' but I actually did just laugh out loud! Well, the picture was there when Jack was still living with her right? So maybe it was Jack's picture! I always did have a soft spot in fan fiction land for Jachel

I was getting it really badly earlier but it's fine now. What happens then, is it just that there are too many people on at a time? (This is curiosity not annoyance asking..)

Kirsty I've just read this start to finish and it's really good. Like really really good! It's so nice to read a non-Adelle fic. No matter how well written they are it's great to see something different. And you really captured their feelings so well and at the same time managed to keep them true to character. Great job, the end of the last chapter was particularly moving, I loved this bit: Just beautiful Just know that if you ever do decide to write more, you have at least one loyal follower right here! -
I remember in the episode where Rachel and Kim first realise that they have different ideas about babies and they're arguing Rachel said, 'I'm not rushing, I'm 28' which was about two years ago, so 30 sounds about right for her. I think it's clear from Rachel's two most recent serious relationships that age is of absolutely no matter to her! And charmed60, I agree. When Rachel first said, 'He's nineteen for goodness sakes' I was completely floored. He totally didn't look it and as such, made it difficult to imagine that there was such a difference. In real life I think Chris and Amy were only about two years apart.

What was it like? It looks absolutely terrifying.

I don't want to keep harping on about the uni thing because it's obviously over and done with and he's not going but I've just been re-watching Drew and Belle's last episodes together (I've suddenly started to miss him, which is odd as I wasn't a huge fan of his at the time ) and one of the things Belle was so mad at Drew for was dropping out of school and deciding not to go to uni. She was cross that he wasn't making anything of his life but now, with Aden she's got no problem with it. She even said last night, 'More fun that if you'd gone to uni' which I thought was really insensitive considering he stayed for her. I can already see the holes in my argument and I know I sound like a broken record. I think I'm just in one of those moods were Belle can't do anything right.

New or old? They're both great anyway The one with Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron. I think that's the new one. Yeah it is, good movie. EDIT: Just finished Changeling (can't sleep) and man do I feel churned up. I wasn't expecting it to be as 'horror' as it was. And now it's even less likely I'm going to be sleeping tonight. I need something light hearted. I feel a Mamma Mia moment coming on.

New or old? They're both great anyway Almost Famous, my favourite ever film and about the millionth time I've watched it!
