I have heard members of the public when I tell them I like the early years of Home and Away say that they found the 2nd Pippa 'over the top'. I don't see that. I love Vanessa's version of Pippa better than Debra's 1990-1993 version but by 1995 I really think Debra's version had actually surpassed Vanessa's version. Her presence just felt comforting to the show, does that make sense? I think the transition of the Pippa character is one of the most interesting things in television, as it's just not clear-cut. I do think Debra taking over from Vanessa immediately led to a lengthy transition period until the 2nd Pippa became accepted, something which took years, and something we are seeing now with the character of Michelle Fowler on EastEnders (though there was a 20 year gap there). Has anyone else heard the myth that Pippa had been played by loads of people? I've often told people I know there were only 2 Pippas but I think some people think there were 3 for some reason (I know technically there were 3, but only 2 screen-wise).

They're quite different age demographics though, or do you mean as a replacement waitress at the Diner? Why would they go for bringing back Irene rather than introducing a new character?

Yeah, I think this would have worked well. Perhaps Floss moreso than Neville. I'd have liked to see Floss during the 90s.

To be fair the character profiles are second to none IMO as I've easily been able to label my episodes with not only arrivals and departures, but also returns and departures again (Frank, Damian etc). Sorry to ask another question But I was just looking at that 1994 article you linked, are the pictures in the articles that come up with a Pinterest logo owned by BTTB? As there's a really nice Jack and Selina photo there dying to be an avatar

Dammit, don't know why I didn't look at that! I've been using all the character profiles to label my episodes with the arrivals and departures of Blake, Karen, Damian, Fin, Sophie, Frank, Irene, Shane, Angel, Jack, Shannon and Curtis, Selina, Irene 2 etc! It has been very useful! Thanks Dan.

I've just been watching some of Irene's first episodes played by Jacqui Phillips and then her return played by Lynne McGranger in early and then late 1993. It just got me thinking. I wonder why the producers kept deciding to bring her back and then make her a permanent character? It just seems strange if you look at the facts. Damian and Finlay realistically could have stayed with Michael and Pippa for their duration on the show, but I wonder if the plan was for both of them to go and live with Irene once she returned permanently? But then both the actors who played the kids decided to leave? They were obviously keen for Irene to return as they felt her character was important enough to eventually re-cast her in 1993.

I love the eps where Ailsa thinks Jack is cross-dressing 'This is the 90s' she says Perhaps Jack could return to Summer Bay for the anniversary of Michael's death.

I wonder if Jack could ever return to the Bay. Even for a guest stint. I'd love to see him drop by, maybe he has some kids now who he'd like to show where he grew up!

I think that whole Bobby/Adam thing was a mistake.

I've been watching some of my 1990 episodes and thinking (now I've seen Adam's entire stint) how much of a shame it is that Adam was never really developed. Over the course of 5 years all he ever really did was have money-making schemes which never worked. Does anyone else agree it's a shame? I'd have liked Adam and Marilyn to get married instead of her getting married to Phil Bryant.

Really hope they keep the Farm House. It does seem odd that a group of young 20-something females would live there though.
