Back in 2002 (I wasn't a viewer then) Colleen mentioned to Rhys and Shelly that she had a baby at 17 that she gave up for adoption. Was this ever mentioned again?

Well I think it's because of copyright rules-that's why. They must be told to stop showing H&A episodes. It's not to do with copyright as they had an official partnership with Youtube. I expect that the agreement to show long-form programmes has just come to an end and Channel 5 want people to use their own website, rather then having to share revenue with Youtube. Channel 4 also did the same thing at the beginning of the year. Ultimately only they can answer that though. I have been wondering about this too. Unfortunately for C5, them not putting episodes onto Youtube doesn't encourage me start using their own Demand5 website. Instead I resort to using other, non-legal sources which provide them with no revenue at all .

Channel 5 Transmission Discussion/Updates
cadyctslover replied to 630si's topic in General Discussion
Seeing as the last episode of the season shown in Australia is usually the final Friday in November (29th), it means we'll only catch up by 2 weeks. Alternatively the 2014 season could start on Network 7 later than January 13th, but I doubt it. We're currently 9 weeks behind in the UK (not a joke), so this will only bring us to 6-7 weeks behind Australia in January. -
A connection between Teri and Anne Haddy would be interesting, but does anyone else see some similarity in appearance between Teri and Vanessa Downing who played Pippa Mk1?

^ It's sad, we never see the bedrooms in SBH any more. I think the last time was in 2011 when Roo and Miles woke up together in his bed. This was the same room as Sally and Flynn's old bedroom I believe. Before then there was a period in 2009 where Nicole had her own room in SBH with pink patterned wallpaper I remember.
-
^ Based entirely on memory (so I could be completely wrong) I don't think John Holmes has left the post of EP. Julie McGauran became the head of drama at Network 7 I believe, so she has some influence on the show based on that.

I agree maciam, I think it's odd that they haven't got any gay or lesbian characters. It's something that has been suspiciously absent from storylines for a while now. I've thought for a long time that Chris should return as a long-term main character. He could run the caravan park, and foster some new teens in SBH.

Happy 9th Birthday BTTB! And it's almost 5 years since I joined the forum.

Irene Roberts - Lynne McGranger
cadyctslover replied to Cerise's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
I agree, maybe they could recast Finley or Damian? I think LaMurray123 also suggested somewhere that Irene become a priest, I think that could be quite an interesting storyline. -
^ Slow is certainly one way to describe it .

You aren't alone shelly. I didn't like it initially, but since Rocco was born I've really liked Heath and Bianca as a couple. That is mainly due to (IMO) the huge development of Heath as a character. I can't even imagine Bianca and Liam getting back together now, although I did like them together in 2010-11. It's a shame Heath and Bianca seem to be drifting apart now following Rocco's death, I really wish they hadn't done that .

^ I can understand people talking to someone they know is a councillor about their problems 'out-of-hours', but with Natalie it seems to be the other way around. She seems to 'overhear' personal discussions and then involve herself. I'd imagine real councillors/doctors want some freedom from their jobs in their own time.
-
Apart from being shallow as some others have said, I find Natalie very nosey and interfering. Surely as a professional you wouldn't involve yourself in other peoples personal lives after eavesdropping on their conversations. Her curbside consultations also seem very unprofessional. But the biggest problem for me is that she's really boring!

Darryl 'Brax' Braxton - Steve Peacocke
cadyctslover replied to dncllpyk's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
OK fair enough. From what I can see he still lashes out against his brothers quite often, and can be very short with people who are just trying to help him. I also have a problem with his continued involvement in drug dealing. -
Darryl 'Brax' Braxton - Steve Peacocke

At the risk of appearing to be threatening/intimidatory (I am genuinely just interested), could you explain the BIB. In what way Brax is a better man now? -
Harvey Ryan - Marcus Graham
cadyctslover replied to cadyctslover's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
Digital Spy Article Does anyone see any chemistry between Harvey and Roo? I really don't. I really wish Roo would get back together with Sid, or anyone else! -
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I would really recommend it, especially if you're a fan of Robert Downey Jr.

Ok, well what? Just write Brax and Leah to be happy, and done? It doesn't work as easily as that unless we forget all the development of his character so far. I think that would be a really good idea. I hope she comes back refreshed, ready for some light-hearted storylines that don't involve her interfering in other characters lives.
-
Up to the writers but fans want to see Leah have storylines and they also want her to be happy, Brax has a huge fanbase and they want to see him happy why not both be happy together? I felt for Leah when she felt for Brax It's up to the writers but they dont have to have a miserable relationship. I don't feel as though you've understood my point. Brax is an intrinsically miserable character, how exactly will he make Leah happy? Miles couldn't. I agree, 2010 was a good time for leah. She not only became a central, important member of the cast again, but she was likeable. They really messed up Elijiah's return, and that is why it didn't work and he was axed. I actually really liked her relationship with Miles until they put her through another miscarriage. It was a terrible thing to happen to the character once again, but I found the way she treated Miles as a result disgusting. He was grieving too, but it was as though it didn't matter. She never really acknowledged his feelings, and has since been a very selfish character. She is no longer the kooky, comical character she used to be, she just involves herself in other peoples business (Ruby's 'pregnancy') and bangs a drum over how misunderstood Brax is.
-
Wow, that's an interesting idea. If he fathered a child soon after leaving SB they wouldn't be much younger than VJ, then they could return in only around 5 years as he joins the real teen group. Really? Brax? Brax has the potential to make Leah happy? Brax the drug-dealing, gangster with ongoing severe emotional problems following the shooting of his girlfriend - in Leah's house? He's probably the least likely man in the world to make anyone happy, and you think he's a match for Leah? I agree that she still has potential, and apart from any relationship with Brax, your suggestions are very valid. When VJ really becomes old enough to be considered part of the teen group I think we'll see some real development of Leah as a character (I hope we will). I wouldn't completely write her off, I'm just saying that currently the writers aren't taking advantage of her true potential.
-
I didn't sense any chemistry whatsoever between these two, and I'm glad it hasn't gone any further. After warning others to stay away from Brax and his family in 2011, Leah's sudden complete change of opinion earlier this year was so contrived. Now Leah needs to stop being President of the Braxton family Fan Club and become an interesting and fun character again, or leave.

Harvey Ryan - Marcus Graham
cadyctslover replied to cadyctslover's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
^ Agreed. My theory is that they want to have renowned actor Marcus Graham in the cast, but aren't sure what to do with him. -
I couldn't find a thread about Harvey, so here we are. He's been onscreen for about a year now, and I don't think he really has a purpose on the show. I believe he was brought in as a guest character last year as a villainous rival for Romeo and his bay-touring business on the Blaxland. At some time during his contract they decided to make him a regular character, and so attempted to make him likeable (an about-turn for his character) with the tried-and-tested 'tragic' back-story approach. They introduced his daughter, who was quite pleasant, so she left quite quickly. Now the mission statement for his character reads: "Roo's boyfriend".

Here's an interesting piece about what Rebecca thought of the way Ruby was recently written out. Rebecca Breeds on Digital Spy
