R.I.P. Changelo. As much as I am liking the Charlie-Joey storyline at the minute, I have to mourn this! (Technically a double post...but almost a month apart doesn't count hopefully!)

^ Thanks for the reply. As I said, I'm no expert, so all my comments are just based on what I've read in newspapers and such, and for the most part, victims seem to talk of isolation, mistrust of people and even fear of leaving their house after the event. But as you said, different people have different experiences. I still think that going on a date with someone (anyone) would be the last thing on your mind a couple of weeks after being raped.

Is anyone else a bit disappointed with the portrayel of Joey's rape on the show? The actual rape itself seems to have had little emotional effect on Joey, and has been largely forgotten while she has now moved on to dealing with her sexuality and coming out, and all the difficulties that that entails. I'm no expert, but presumably after going through such an ordeal the emotional scars would be huge. Surely even basic interaction with people afterwards (especially males) would be extremely difficult. Instead, we have seen Joey asking Nicole out on a date (majorly unrealistic after going through such a trauma IMO), and a lot of her scenes have been near the docks/boat where the actual rape took place. Would she not be avoiding that as much as possible? Maybe I'm being too quick with this post, and perhaps we have yet to see the effects of the attack on Joey emerge. I hope we get to see a confession from Aden about his past to Joey (but thats just me as a huge Aden fan), but it still doesn't dispel the fact that I think the aftermath of the rape has been a little bit of a let-down.

I agree. The whole Axel thing was ridicuously badly handled. It was treated as an act without consequence, and its only purpose, as far as I can see, was for the viewers to gain some insight into the inner turmoil the character of Aden was going through at the time. We didn't know explicitly at that point IIRC that Aden was abused, so I believe it was used as an outward demonstration of the anger Aden was feeling towards his abuser, and I guess to try and bring the viewer more quickly to the realisation that Aden was abused. It's a pity the way it was done, as it is a blight on an otherwse near perfect storyline. (Just to add: Its a real shame that they decided to kill off Axel. It could have been interesting viewing to see Aden and Axel try to rebuild a friendship after Aden's abuse came to light. Even now, Aden has no male friends of his own age to hang out with - I'm not counting Geoff, as I'm in the camp that don't want to see them become best pals. Apart from it not being realistic, its much more entertaining watching them rile each other up!)

^OK, so I couldn't resist coming on to argue some of your points Red Ranger! Firstly, I do agree with some of your points. The length of Aden's stay in the clinic was ridiculously short, and totally unrealistic in todays world (day releases as well!!). However, TV shows have to have some sort of artistic license, & they can't portray EVERY facet of a story realistically, or in a realistic timeframe (Kane's release from prison, for example! ), so I think viewers just have to accept these types of things, and let it go. About his reparation for his actions. What exactly else would you have him do apart from apologising? His apology to Belle was heartfelt and sincere, and that scene is one of my all time favourite scenes between Adelle. He accepted without question Rachel's reluctance to become friends straight away. I also think its a natural enough reaction to be uncomfortable & embarrassed when someone refuses an apology, so I don't blame Aden for beating a hasty retreat at that point, and not attempt to push the issue. As regards Larry, I like the fact that his issues remain unresolved. (And I live in hope that we will see Larry again at some point). For someone with Aden's history, its entirely realistic that he still has confused feelings towards his dad - showcased by the fact that as much as he wanted to tell Larry in the hospital he loved him, he couldn't. Maybe Aden still does have anger and resentment towards Larry as you said, I don't blame him for that. Finally, the guy had a complete mental breakdown so, yes, he got found not guilty. A correct judgement in my opinion. What he needed at the time was help to deal with his problems, not to be thrown in jail.

Gutted. Changelo must reunite! I think the writers are missing an opportunity not pairing these two up…they have HUGE potential as a couple, IMO. They were extremely fun (and hot!) at the beginning, and could get back to that. I'm still holding out hope, if and there's still a chance for them to get together.
-
Couldn't agree more! And its definitely a good thing that he is in the background a bit these days, but also that Aden and Belle are in their own little mini storylines at present. They need to interact with other characters seperately, so that the constant focus is not always on their relationship. Then they can throw in little moments like they did the other night when they were both on the couch to keep all the Adellites happy!

I predict nothing more than 1 scene (if even)…after that they'll go back to anguishing over . Zzzzzzzz (I'm sooo hoping this is not gonna be the dragged out over a year mystery….put me out of my misery now!) Anyway….who cares….Changelo will be too busy hotting up by then (hopefully!!)

I think this latest storyline with Aden and Joey will be used to give an insight into how much Aden has matured in the last few months. If the spoiler about is true, then it will be interesting to see how Aden deals with the situation. The character of Aden took a pretty bad bashing on this board for his reaction to the Axel - Melody attack incident. And, although I agree that his violent attack on Axel was reprehensible and wrong, at the time, Aden was just beginning to face up to his abusive past and what his grandfather did to him. And at that stage, it was pretty believable that his first instinct would be to punish the instigator. So, I'm looking forward to see what his first reaction is this time, whether he'll react as explosivley as in the previous situation, or whether, with having worked through his own situation, he will be able to channel his reactions more positively this time. It would be particularily great, if we get to see some emotional conflict arising in Aden and see him having to battle with his demons again and overcome them this time. Here's hoping for some intense upcoming Aden scenes!

Now, THAT should be the tagline on this thread!

Dear Writers, Please do not make me come after you and bash you over the head with your own scripts by ignoring the power that is Changelo. Any attempts to pair Charlie up with Hugo, if that’s what you are thinking, will not be tolerated. If/ Angelo comes back, I demand some more hot Changelo bed rolling scenes! As an alternative, please see Baker, Leah & Harris, Roman for your consideration. Yours in frustration, Doola P.S. I would even be willing to suffer through Hugo and Martha if you want to torture me that way. Just keep Hugo away from Charlie. P.P.S. All implied threats of violence above can be ignored, as it’s a recession & I can't afford the flight tickets to Australia. But be warned, your virtual bruising will be pretty bad!

I miss Angelo. I hope the stellar Summer Bay Police, crack the case soon and get him released. *****Free the Summer Bay One!!!*****

^His delivery of that line was brilliant...just sooo deadpan. Spot on. Unfortunately, his delivery of ALL his lines could be described as deadpan. He just got lucky that this time, that was what the line required. Sorry! Just not a fan.

I totally agree. The guy cannot act, full stop. A more talented actor, would have definitely garnered some sympathy from the audience during the confrontation with Hugo about abandoning the family and being left to look after Brendan. He hasn't once looked to be feeling anything more than indifference to the fact that his first cousin was just tragically killed. And, tonight, his supposed portrayal of being messed up and confused over Freya was.....ZZzzzzzzzzzzz. Xavier out. Archie in.
-
^I think you're being too optimistic there, gillyh. This is Summer Bay after all!
-
He was in that?? Don't remember him. (Probably cause I only had eyes for Callan Mulvey when I was watching HBH though!)
-
Welcome, Macylightfoot. Great first post! I think even most Adelle fans would agree with you on this one. The constant in and out of hospital every 5 minutes, and reeling from one major drama to another is killing my love for this couple. Its just too much. I'd like to see them go back to the way they were during their initial courtship at the start of the relationship, where there was banter, snarkiness and just some plain fun. Bring that back writers!!
-
Yikes! What is that from?? Look at those cheekbones......you could cut apples on them! Definitely much prettier (and manly-er) with the short hair!
-
I have a feeling that they're setting up all this aggro between Aden and Nicole at the minute, in order for something to happen. It seems that its all going to come to head at some point, and I don't know how yet. Maybe the is related in some way.

Snowed in. Not going to work today. 5 hour tailbacks last night & cars abandoned everywhere! Much safer to stay indoors!!!
-
Wow....so I usually NEVER venture into this thread, and I KNEW when it was you writing, it wasn't going to be all peaches and cream for Aden and Belle....but wow! Your writing is excellent, and I love your characters....you've got them nailed. This is probably the first fan fic I've read past the first chapter! Looking forward to seeing what happens next! (Although, if its your fault that I may now become hooked on H&A fanfic, I will have to hunt you down and kill you! - I spend waaaayyy too much time on this site as it is! I really do not need another reason!)

Screwed each other up, definitely. I think now, at this point, they both understand each other better, and so could possibly build some sort of foundation for a future relationship. Back then, I think its important to remember that Aden was beginning to form an attachment to Belle by then, and it was important for him to continue to be able to trust someone in order to be able to open up to them. Nicole's previous sexual aggressive nature towards him would have made it impossible for Aden to confide in her then. Now, I have to take this point up with you! I think I saw a post from you in another thread, saying that the night of the formal Aden shouldn't have brought Melody home in her 'altered' state and then promptly left her with Annie and Jai, even though Melody had abused them all by telling them to get stuffed! Now, you're defending Nicole for abandoning a drunken Aden alone on the end of a pier after he slagged her off! I know you're not at Aden fan....but is that not a case of a little bit of double standards?? (Sorry...I'm an Aden fan and will defend him to the death!!....well maybe not to the death, but close enough!! )

^Well, I was coming in here to post on this, but Jody has put everything there in a much more intelligent way than I could have! I enjoy the Aden-Nicole relationship as it is at the minute, with the snarky banter and siblingish cattiness and fighting. At this point in time, I don't think a relationship between them would work at all. Nicole is too 'young' (for want of a better word) and immature for Aden. Jody hit on an interesting point, I mean if Aden wasn't with Belle then who could he be paired up with?? Nicole is really the only contender....there really is no one else of his age around for him to interact with. (However, ever since those pics emerged of I could possibly get behind an Aden-Nicole coupling, but it would have to be much further down the road, and I think Nicole would need to become a bit more mature in order for it to happen believably. There would be some opportunity for some good comic lighthearted scenes though, which would be great......because these have been ALL too lacking with Adelle lately...which is a point for another thread....
-
Ha! So true! Before, he was just cute and goofy...now he's hot and smokin' I'm getting impatient that they sort out , so I can see how his relationship with Charlie will pan out.
-
^Thanks cicerid!....I spent way too much time trying to come up with it! And, I definitely want to see Aden making more of himself as well. Here's hoping we will in the not too distant future. Maybe his looking after Belle will inspire him to become a nurse!! Or how about a physio.....surely the hospital need a replacement since Sam kicked it!!
