^^ yep totally agree. I would love to see her take on photography again, maybe become a studio photographer? or a freelance photographer, something artsy. She is too funky and hip to be working in the diner still and if the writers want to develop her character to become even more fresher than they should give her something that gives her freedom to express herself as she does it so well with that mouth of hers (in a good way obviously). So yeah hopefully we'll get to see a more chilled Belle in the coming months...

hmmmm i gotta say, this is a very balanced argument! Well done, as much as it PAINS me to say , i think im actually agreeing with you that still doesn't make me a fan of Angelo , but you bring up some very good points ... But in saying that BELLE STILL ROCKS MY SOCKS :cool:

In every show you will always get the typical cliched character. You either have the "hot" blonde girl with the nasty attitude, or you have the good girl who constantly follows the rules, or you have the girl who is mature beyond her years. BUT....then you get the girl who is the complete opposite to all these other girls i mentioned plus more, who is artsy, fiesty, punk like and pretty much doesn't take any crap from anybody. To me that kind of girl is the character that i tend to be interested in. To me she is the only female character on the show that has been entertaining from the word go...the fact that she can garner so much debate about her character to me means that Jess is doing a damn good job at playing her out well. And the fact that even I am taking an interest in a character from any soap show is AMAZING! (H&A is the only soap show i watch, SHOT H&A!)...Another thing thats so damn good about Belle/Jess is the way she can play out so many emotions! I can seriously watch an episode where she can be angry, sad, or hysterical and be entranced in that very moment at that very performance and not be laughing my a** off because its either cheesy or corny to the bone!! Her performance to me is breathtaking and flawless! I am truely her greatest fan and hope that Belle will become the person she once was before all this development site crap, and i also hope that Jess comes away with a Logie award...i think shes proven to everyone why she should

You know what valli I couldnt have said it better myself. You described Angelo to an absolute tee and I know how you mean about being hated because he acted like any other human being would in his situation.He was hardly going to go and have tea and biscuits with Aden and Belle no he was going to be angry and express his anger.The worst part is that Angelo was treated like the one in the wrong when he outed Aden and Belle's affair by the whole town which was completely unfair. I like him as a character like you said that he is not one sided and he is a very complex character.I would be very sad to see him go No one told Angelo to not be fine with being cheated on, Belle and Aden knew that his reaction would be to be angry and upset there wasn't going to be no ifs or buts about it. What i don't understand about Angelo is that hes a police officer who in summerbay probably deals with family arguments, violent outbursts etc yet by dealing with these issues and probably trying to solve these issues he turns around and becomes exactly these kind of people. To me thats a contradiction of what he's meant to be, a cop. Yes hes human, as you have all pointed out, but I don't ever recall anyone saying that Belle and Adens actions were justified as being right at all. And to be honest if you are jealous and possessive that early on in your relationship (Angelo i mean) then there is clearly something wrong with you. He was cheated on and like any human he reacted, but i don't know any normal person who would go out and make your life a living hell, and the ones that i do know that do that are usually the ones i see on my crime and investigation channel! They're usually the psychotic ones PEACE

I find you're always stating your view in a very constructive way and that's exactly the kind of healthy debate I was talking about. Thanks for saying so.But I'll freely admit there have been times when I've got annoyed about a post and replied with an ill-considered rant which I'll try and keep to a minimum. don't worry your not alone at all on that point. Couldn't agree more with you there....love her or hate her, there's no denying she's consistent, and I think she's one of the few characters that made it through the 2006/07 period without undergoing some sort of huge personality change just for the sake of a storyline. Although her relationship with Aden ultimately seeped its way into the development storyline I think it was very much a story which established Belle as an individual, showing what she believes to be right and wrong, and the way the line blurs when one or the other is compromised - which was much needed in my opinion, it gave her something other than Aden as a focus and the danger of coupling two characters together is that they can lose all focus of other things going on around them and become too dependant on each other. What's really keeping me hooked on Belle at the moment though is the fallout from her attack and the way in which she's coping with it (or isn't as the case may be)....not to my recollection have we seen such a drawn out post-traumatic-stress type disorder played out in the show and its nice to see it being handled with care and not resolving itself overnight (as was the case with Ric earlier in the year...) - I hope they address the fact that it surely can't just be the development storyline thats causing it, and address other areas in her life which are factors into her downward spiral. I think you hit the nail in the coffin on this one ...everything you have said is exactly the reasons why i love Belle's character! I don't ever recall one time where her character has bored me or made me think differently of her. Her storyline with the development site and her post-traumatic stress disorder is giving the audience a chance to see another side of Belle, an almost vulnerable side, then the feistiness that we also love to see within her. I think we will get to see that one day, and hopefully soon. Belle's post-traumatic stress disorder along with the development storyline have been some of the best storytelling that i've ever seen on home and away (for me anyway). The post-traumatic stress storyline especially has given me a whole nother perspective on the illness that no article or book would have given me, so i thank the writers for playing it out the way they have, and not resolving it in a day or week or so, like you said Foxy. Another thing also, this may sound stupid, but i also love the fact that they made her character look the part to if you get my drift. I have read a lot that Belle has been looking quite, "messy" and "not looking so nice" I think that if we got a character who was going through all this trauma and still looked all dolled up then it wouldn't of been realistic. The fact that she did look "messy" was a connotation of what she was going through at that time and it made Belle's character even more believable for me. I hope that made sense

Isn't that a little uncalled for as well. Yes, we all know it is not real but if a character causes such emotion then the monkeys are doing something right. Don't say it is fake when you are postings a post that is just as strong and feels just like you don't realize it is fake. Can't we all just get along... and get back to the important things? Like Belle without adding the Aden Ok, ok i just read my post again and i think i contradicted myself there SORRY GUYS, just ignore that first sentence but the second sentence i stand by cause i do get satisfaction out it theres nothing wrong with that! I think if Belle's character is stirring sooo much discussion on this thread then im going to discuss how i feel about her, acting wise, and stick up for her, anti wise. I think the one thing we ALL have to realise is that when you post your feelings about a character than don't assume that other people feel the same way when they clearly don't, and i think thats what got people so riled up...don't worry i do that all the time, and i might do that in the future, so yes we should just get along but like Cal said we are all entitled to our opinions, even if those anti opinions do p*** me off But thats not gonna hold me back and make me not want to come on here to prove MY point either!

WOW your soooo angry, you know shes only a character...like its just a story...a fake one ...but I guess the one thing that gives me satisfaction out of this whole thing is that, Aden and Belle are going to be together...and if thats rubbing it in everybodys faces *cough anti-adelle fans*cough* then im ALL FOR IT!!!!!!!! and a personal message to the writers...don't put Adelle in the background they're the only reasons why your ratings have been going up ....As for your comment on Belle being a "selfish excuse for a human being...we all know shes just a cow"...nope don't think that about her AT ALL!!! What i REALLY think about her is that, she posesses a tough courageous woman who fought for the safety of the people in her town, she is a great example to all woman out there who fight soooo hard to just be heard even if the only person that believes you is yourself...although the writers put her character in this predicament, cheating and what not, im going to go with the fact that if there is one person on television that inspires me to fight hard for a worthy cause and belive in true love at the same time then i'm all for Belle's character.... ...if that made anyone puke, GOOD!!!

ok i have to admit that bit did make me laugh but she had a good reason haha Belle shouldn't have done what she did to Angelo...blah, blah, blah...but it also takes a man to just except it and move on!! But no he had to constantly attack her in public, then embarass her at the town meeting and then invite himself into her home and threaten her and make her feel very, very scared. I know he was hurt but dude seriously! I think we, even I, know that Angelo shouldn't have been treated the way he was because in hindsight he is a top notch sort of bloke. He just wasn't that sort of bloke that Belle loved. I know this will prob create more hatred for anti belle fans, as they will prob say that he had every right to be angry and react the way he did towards Adelle but trying to persuade someone to look through Belle fans perspective is like anti fans trying to convince us that Belle is a "skank" ...aint gonna happen mate p.s im really loving our little conversations, seriously

I agree with you Sexyluc. This is a character discussion thread not an appreciation thread so it’s perfectly reasonable to discuss Belle’s less desirable traits in the same way is ok for people to focus on her more positive aspects if they wish. Just one point in regards to Martha though. Didn’t she sleep with Ash when she was still married to Jack? As I’ve said many times before (broken record) it didn’t really bother me her cheating on Angelo, it was the fact that she used him to assist her mission to expose the council. YES this is a character discussion thread, and YES you can agree and disagree about a character, i didn't say that you couldn't come on here and not state your point of view at all!! That was MY point of view I expressed and I was clearly expressing an opinion that didn't necessarily agree with yours Sexyluc!...anywho i can understand your "hatred" towards the character Belle but like you said, we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this particular topic And to Slade i agree 100% with your last point and I'm pretty sure many of Belles fans would too, that it wasn't so much her cheating on Angelo that was sad but rather her using him to gain an advantage in her investigation (even if it was for the good of the town)...so i like to point out again that I in no way meant for you (sexyluc) to not come on here and not state an opinion on Belle, but don't expect me to hold back on mine either HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE

Why do we keep coming up to the same issue about Belle over and over again, why do you (not you alone) always focus on the negative attributes of her character rather then the positive? I'm sure there are many things that she has done over the years that have been good! But im guessing your negativity towards Belle is purely for the fact that shes not like Martha (who i'm guessing has slept around plenty of times ) but i aint judging, its just an opinion like yours (she is one of my favs too you know)...But if we just keep bringing up the skanky thing then it just becomes boring and...nope just boring! Did we not see her character go through a traumatic experience many-a-times to help solve the Development site issue? Was that not enough for people to realise that, that whole skanky issue is just...i don't know...overated! I think when you dislike someone so much you become one eyed about certain situations that go on instead of looking at the whole picture. I was like that with Martha but you grow up and realise that people handle things differently to how you and me would handle it, yah!

I think at the end of the day we can all agree (well some) that Belle's character on the show has probably garnered as much discussions about issues than any other character (correct me if im wrong ). And i hope we can all agree that Jess' acting has been absoloutely superb this year! and watching her development has been a joy to watch for me personally...im suprised to say but its not only her character that has impressed me the most. Martha's character is fast becoming one of my favs and for a long time (like a very long time) i was not keen on her at all, i think her cancer story has been a blessing in disguise and i hope that we see sooooo much more development from these two beautiful ladies in coming years!

I like Belle too and although im loving the fact that shes getting a lot of screen time, i can honestly say that the writers REALLY, REALLY need to start making some sort of positive approach to her character!! So i hope they know what they're doing with her character and don't destroy her too much...I wonder if they know that we know that her being in hospital sooooo much is actually quite annoying rather than entertaining. BUT I STILL LUVS YA BELLES!!!

I don't understand who you mean by when you say she sleeps around! Do you mean Lucas, who she slept with ONCE 2 or 3 years ago? She slept with Angelo after Aden made it out as if he didn't want her, so in her mind things had already been broken between them...Yet when Aden FINALLY admitted to loving her thats when she got confused...it didn't show anything on Belle still sleeping with Angelo during the investigation and after Aden admitted his feelings to her. Yes she stayed with him but that doesn't mean she was still having sex with him! So if anything she was using him for his police connections but there was no way that she was using him for sex, it would have been mentioned or we would have seen it otherwise and it wasn't!!! Aden and Belle are both at fault. Him because he pursued her knowing that she was involved with Angelo and i think his exact words were, "I don't care," after she said shes with Angelo now...and her because she gave into temptation, so i don't see how this is ALL her fault!!...

The only thing Belle is guilty of is stringing Angelo along when she knew full well that she still had feelings for Aden. But if Aden had not done what he did she would have not been in that situation...so if anyones to blame its Aden!!...Belle is a fantastic character, and i don't understand how shes portrayed as this person who uses sex to get what she wants!! I don't think so. Maybe her staying with Angelo gives that impression but we didn't see her trying to sleep with him every second chance she got, in fact she was the one that tried to avoid him a lot when he tried to get closer to her, that to me doesn't sound like she was using him AT ALL for sex... ...in saying that Belle is a wicked character who from day one has been able to still posess her bad ass feisty attitude, the fact that she hasn't changed says a lot about who she is as a person. No other character on this show is as interesting as her not even close!!

yep i fully agree with you there!!! At first I was sweet with the whole Aden storyline drama thing, but then we get the whole drama with Belle and the development site and to top it off they had to also add the whole Belle cheating on Angelo...arrggghhh frustrating and confusing!! Im a HUGE fan of both Aden and Belle, but why soooo much drama!! I know (hopefully) that this will probably be the only big storyline that we will get from this couple for this year anyway and then hopefully when it all dies down we can see them finally blending into the community being all lovey dovey and supportive of other peoples problems!! I think the writers may have learnt there lesson from the Martha and Jack storyline judging from the "hatred" fans now have towards this couple, so hopefully they don't fully destroy Aden and Belle with the writers concentrating more on making them strong like Sally and Flynn were. For me personally in the beginning i was soooooo "woop, woop Adelle" now its like "hurry up with the drama already" I want to be able to watch the show with excitement again because they trully are a fantastic couple. So i too want to see them breath and just relax in each others company as well as others...crossing my fingers that the writers won't destroy this couple too!!

Interesting pov, but to me there chemistry goes beyond anything that I've ever seen on H&A! I think its too early to "judge" whether they still have chemistry or not because they have only just started back up again, but I think the writers are at this point focusing on the strength of their relationship and how they support each other through the difficult times in the coming weeks rather than all the lovey dovey stuff...i think down the line once their characters have been put through their emotional turmoil we will see how great they will be together again

For me personally I find this couple BORING with a CAPITAL B!!!!....I'm really sorry, but they don't do anything together apart from ....nope can't think of anything they just don't do anything, theres no chemistry no nothing!! I like them both as individuals but as a couple its just not working, The whole Roman and Martha thing seems like a natural fit although i don't see how the writers are going to approach that!...but thats just what i think anyway, please don't take offence its just an opinion

I'm a HUGE fan of Jessica Tovey, i really do think she is, if not the best actress currently on Home and Away! The way she portrays Belle is fantastic i can't see anybody else doing it as good as Jess at the moment!!
