I think they should wrote out Ben and Carly after they got married as they basically did nothing for reminder of their time . I do wonder if Tom had lived if Tom and Ben might of clashed more once they were living under same roof .

Cornelia Frances was type actress that could make any character she played are strong character and always put her heart and soul into it. But unfortunately I can understand why she didn’t last long on H&A as regular as direction they were taking show in she wasn’t type character that would fit in that era of H&A and why would like to see Morag and Bobby have bit development but unfortunately writers seemed to want keep them hating each other and was starting get bit old them throwing insults at each other. I could see Morag being one to put Lois in her place had Morag somehow still be on show til 1991. But I think H&A did well keeping 5 original characters for first ten years though Pippa being recast. Irene and Sam and Marilyn all being around 5 years or more mark by 1998.

Only roles she ever really was mean was in early years H&A and her guest appearance in Prisoner and even in Young Doctors i wouldn't say her character Sister Scott was nasty but just someone who meant business and had no time for people fooling around in work place.

I actually look at Colleen as Eileen Clarke of Sumner Bay and Floss as Marlene Kratz of Summer Bay and Doris Peters in pilot episode is probably closest thing to Mrs Mangel.

Home and away was always destined to out live Neighbours no matter how many times Neighbours be bought back. Home and away has always been stronger show then Neighbours as Home and away has potential to develop into different directions of storyline’s and Neighbours has always be stuck in it that’s about it’s residents living in same street and I know people say that’s makes closer to its roots but it’s not always good thing because got limited room for new directions . Even though I dont agree with some off storyline’s in recent years with H&A but I still know it’s stronger soap opera and even boring episode of H&A is better then boring episode of Neighbours as you always know things will get interesting again with H&A soon but with Neighbours can stay dull for longest of time. Also I find characters are better written on H&A too as Neighbours has always writeen characters with overly characterised as where’s H&A tends to write characters more natural .

I think anyone who watches 1988 season would understand why Neville and Floss didn’t last long . I think Celia and Morag and even Colleen added more flavour to show then Floss and Neville . Morag and Celia had family on show too and Celia work in store so gave her better reason for interaction with other characters and Morag was look upon as town villain and could spice things up. Where’s Neville and Floss really had not much purpose other than Floss working at store for bit and Neville had even less purpose.

I like them to bring back Martha Roo daughter and it’s strange when Rosetta return couple years ago nether Alf or Roo questioned Rosetta if he heard from Martha or Hugo but guest Roo had already said she was in touch with them and that’s other Colby and Dean thing could try holding against Rosetta letting criminal Hugo person smuggling go on run . Alf and Roo had final screen with Rosetta and when I watch it I was like this is man that let you daughter/granddaughter go on run with criminal and all you can say he is goodbye without at least mentioning Martha . I get they had keep Martha and Hugo out off storyline as otherwise would far too hypothetical if Rosetta was helping Martha and Hugo while investigating who killed Nixion. Although did Alf and Roo know it was Rosetta who let Hugo go on run ?. How he ever got back on police force and little on detective it’s mystery. It shows that producers would make any storytelling happen I wouldn’t be at all surprised if in other ten years Colby returns as detective and investigation murder and no mention of his past .

Since Roo be back she be having more to do and her character personality brings lot energy to show. I be happy to keep all 7 mainstays for as long as possible!. I don’t count Mackenzie as mainstay yet even though she be around longer then most but I count people as mainstay once they hit ten years and Justin almost ten years so include him as 7 mainstays.
