I don't think it's still standing, I remember mentioning it in another post and someone replied that it was actually situated just across from the pier diner and is now an empty plot.

I actually have no idea how the new surf club fits into the exterior layout or where the old Surf Club used to be in place of the new one? To me it seems too big... but yeah in terms of layout, I really dont know - I mean where about its that doorway/utterance that used to be prominent? The kiosk bit? Where does it all fit... Being in the UK we've only just glimpsed the new renovations but to me the bits we've seen seem to marry more with those long narrow windows at the top of the building you see on the outside and a more prominent proper entrance that isnt hidden from view like the old one (on outside shots again it appears to have a proper reasobale sized entrance). The exterior of the club seems pretty big, if you look at the photos and on the google street view. The kiosk is a funny one because, while it had apparently long gone from the interior of the surf club when Rhys was forced to close it (around the time it was closed for the last set of on screen renovations to open noahs bar, the gym etc) it still obviously existed on the outside (it wasnt even covered up to hide it)and even recently weve seen alf at the open kiosk handing boxes of what appeared to be stock through it to the interior (which wasnt glimpsed) lol so where that will or wont fit with the new look i don't know.

I think the Surf Club and Noahs bar have been renovated into the whole new Surf Club look with 'Angelos' above and the Surf Club below, with what looks like a juice bar of some kind (not sure if it's called Noahs or not), the pool table etc etc. It looks completely different but I imagine far more realistic to what the surf club probably really looks like (and appears to actually match the exterior more closely too). Im sure I heard that this came about through real life renovations of the club with an upwards extension to the building and of course with the show revamping all its sets it came at just the right time!

i think the red front door of SBH has a different design on the front to that on the back. i think the scene you may be talking about was where Alf was talking to Tachel and the door was closed behind them. on the back the design has two sets of two vertical rectangular panels, like the washroom door. and the front has three horizontal rectangular panels spaced out, one at the top, one at the bottom and one in the middle. That is actually the back door! The front door is out in the hallway, near the stairs but it hasnt been mentioned in years! I know we were meaning the front of the back door and the back of the back door (which you rarely see). But you're right, the front door hasn't been seen in a zillion years which always strikes me as odd - and the fact they have two back doors (the second one being the one leading off the kitchen onto the patio) lol

great, so glad this is still on the cards me too! and on Summer Bay House related note, did anyone else notice the wierd continuity error in tonights (Friday & UK time) episode? I noticed that the famous SBH main door had changed to a modern looking one. It was the same colour but was a different style, so I thought hmm have they really changed the famous door. (I had a brief thought it was the washroom door but that didnt make sense either and thats still white!) Then in a later scene it was back to normal! I'm not sure whether this was a continuity error in that thay HAVE changed the door but that scene was filmed in such a way that meant it didnt match in sequence, or was it some other kind of error that meant they just used a new door for that scene? lol I'm intrigued!

I hope so too, the caravan park seems to have dissappeared again aswell doesn't it lol watching the early episodes with Summer Bay House and the gardens and leading into the caravan park and onto the road reaffirms for me the need to have a new house set built and try to try and get abit of continuity going again.

I know the pier etc have been used alot over the years but it's kinda nice that theres now a shop/diner etc so close to that original one! Am I right in thinking Bobby and Ailsa opened the Bayside diner because the old store burned down or was it already in existence? It was such an early epsiode I can't recall lol I remember the fire and obviously the diner being open but not if it was already there. Don't know if you're watching the Early Years episodes, but just so I don't give too much away. I don't know I've just been fooled by special effects, but I always got the impression that they actually do burn down the building in real life, like it was condemmed or something. I remember Five ran some supposedly 'early years' epsodes for a while a few years ago (around 2005 I think) but sadly they were only from 2000 - meaning their own early years and not actually the shows early years lol - a big disapointment to a long term fan I have to say. Yeah I too thought the fire looked incredibly real, actually better than most modern incarnations (lots of smoke but no fire usually!). I'm not sure how they managed it if it WAS special effects/didn't burn the building down, I guess they have their ways if it was still standing at the end in real life lol I see we had another incarnation of Stewarts Point tonight (uk time), which had to be the worst ever incarnation. It's ridiculous in my view, its clearly just a little runway bit onto the beach, totally obviously not Stewarts Point!

True lol they shouldve just indicated that martha had been up there as you say, it wouldn't have detracted from the story. On an unrelated location topic, where was the Ailsa's original cafe/diner/store located and whats there now? I mean the really early one that was firebombed by Dodge when they thought Frank was asleep upstairs and had died in the fire after they found a body in there. (and whose body was it btw?) I wondered as the store never seemed to get mentioned in later years, except as alfs later one lol

wow was that meant to be Stewarts Point? I didn't realise, it looked nothing like it normally does lol I do wish theyd be a bit more consistent, i.e use the locations best known for certain things as the places theyre meant to be, if that makes sense lol

Ooh! Thanks! Very prompt reply indeed I thought it was nice to see somewhere "real" i.e. with actual cars driving past at the top of the T-junction in the background. It gave the show a bit of realism. I agree, it's nice when they film 'on location' other than in the bay. I always remember them going to 'the city' (i always wondered where exactly 'the city' was) in the early 1990's when they were looking for Sophie, a bit like they did when Miles was looking for Mel. An interesting comparison, similar stories, years apart! Were they filmed in similar areas or totally different? And was/is 'the city' meant to be Sydney.. Melbourne.. or another mysterious place no one knows the name of? lol

Whilst its obviously not an exact replica, it does bear similarity and they evidently took the shape of the house into account when designing the set. All I've done below is rotated the staircase, and knocked down a few walls to open it up a bit more, and you've got the onscreen version. The living/dining/kitchen areas are basically the same, and the bathroom is in the same place. Before they added the bedroom at the bottom of the stairs it would have been even more similar with the boatshed remaining as it is in reality. Obviously its nowhere near to scale - the right hand wall needs to come in considerably now It looks much more similar on the plan I have to say lol it's harder to tell by the photo's. It still begs the question, why the change to a house that is nothing like the origianl for those silly stock shots lol they seemed to make more effort in the past it seems to me to make the interior fit the exterior even if it wasn't necessarily obvious onscreen.

Wow, it's cool seeing more extensive photos of the Beach house, and the interior is amazing. nothing like you'd imagine! I wouldn't say the layout was anything like it's onscreen counterpart though, unless an extremely vague one ie the kitchen's at the back and living area at the front. It's interesting that the latest onscreen redecoration is similar though in that it's very white and light like this is. i wonder if they were designing the Beach house now, as a new set (say like the Townhouse) it would end up more like this? It would look incredible. the real life version looks much bigger aswell than its onscreen incarnation. Thanks for uploading and updating it, its great to see!

I'd forgotten about Brad living there lol is it just me or - yet again - does the front interior of the house not match the real life front exterior? On the inside the front door wall is flat and looks out onto what looks like another wall. On the outside the wall is at a sharp angle altogether with windows and blinds and obviously doesn't look onto a wall - or am i completely wrong? lol :S Ahh I've just noticed theyve altered the outside in the 'as seen on screen' pics, to create the wall seen through the front door lol it looks better without it I have to say I'm amazed theyve gone to the trouble to create that continuity given the complete lack of it on these other location shots as discussed hehe Yeah it would be fascinating to know what Summer Bay House looks/looked like inside for real!

I presume it would be quite hard to focus in on one house amongst the other houses in terms of aerial shots. But I was just thinking more along the lines of the ones they used to use during the 90's, taken from far away - I think they'd look fantastic in HD, espeically if you can see a bit of the beach too. I remember one particular shot of the beach house, it was taken from afar and you saw the whole house and a lot of the sky and the garden/some of the beach (I think) - but it always made it look like such a beautiful house to live in and gave a really nice summer bay feel. I also think they should use some stock shots from the later 90's of Summer Bay House, they had quite a few 'aerial' looking shots they could use again, all they need to do is upscale and color correct, I'm sure they would look good and seamless if they use that zooming effect they seem to make use off, until they've re-built - that's if they are still going ahead with it? Hopefully. Thats true, I don't see any reason why they couldn't recycle old stock shots and make them work today. They seem to go from one extreme to another at the mo - amazing sweeping new shots of beach, landmarks etc to inferior/poor stock shots that could easily be much better. They definitely should with summer Bay House, they keep using the exact same night time shot all the time now and it's getting boring. They must have plenty of them, why not jig them about a bit lol

Oh I don't remember that at all.....will have to do some investigation..... the only car mishaps I remember with Belle were when she took Irene's car (which was 2006, before the townhouse appeared) and when she was run off the road during the development site storyline (which was in the middle of nowhere) Does anyone else remember something along those lines? Ahh maybe I was wrong then.. I just had that feeling we'd seen it onscreen once before for some reason, but maybe not lol

That's a fair point lol viewers would be puzzled by a stock shot of trees i think hehe but yeah the beach would be nice, after all it is meant to be called the 'beach house' lol mind you, has anyone noticed its actually rarely called that on screen these days? I was amazed to see exterior filming at the Town House for Aden's last scenes, it was nice because it really does add some realism to a scene, if they hadn't shown the house it couldve been any random bit of road lol. I have some vague recollection of another rare exterior scene around about there, or at least on the road, i may be completely wrong but I'm sure it involved Belle and a car accident - I've forgotten the details but I do remember it - unless it was somewhere else completely! lol

My thoughts exactly - especially now they've been making a big thing of filming all these new fancy sweeping aerial stock views of the beach, the diner etc etc wouldn't it be fab to see the old beach house from the air?! they could be more creative if they put their mind to it. The new beach house shot does look rather like the back of a house and yeah, they do look like windows, although they must I assume open onto the veranda. I saw Leah's 'new house' stock shot for the first time last night - its horrible! it's nothing like the old one and again, as has been mentioned doesn't fit the interior atall... they may aswell not bother using them atall since they show no continuity or add anything to the story.

Ah thanks for that, I should hopefully have that episode so I'll have to have a look to see if I can get a cap - I didn't realise they'd used it that late on, so it does sound as though it was probably the last time. Obviously the one scene that everyone remembers is when Saul kidnapped Selina on the way to her wedding. The location was on the market a couple of years ago so it should have new owners now - Seven should certainly knock on the door and see if they're interested! I guess it can pass in a stock shot, but if you look at it for any longer you start to realise that things don't really match up - another Leah situation with there being no room for the room at the bottom of the stairs (unless the right hand doors lead to that), and of course it doesn't help when they show the nighttime shot and you can clearly see the interior of the real house. Still, if they were that desperate to change locations, they could have done worse I guess - just doesn't have the same feel as the old one... You're right, a brief glance and you'd not notice (and new viewers who don't remember the original wouldn't know any difference obviously) but it really doesnt match up to the interior does it. but they could at least have dressed the doors with blinds as the interior is, that way they;'d have got away with a night time shot whatever the real interior is like - even on the daytime shot you can see it has no blinds and the interior is different lol. very sloppy continuity I think. I still don't understand why theyd need a new stock shot really (same goes for Leah) since they don't film anything there. They've made do with a stock shot of Summer Bay House and a variety of caravan park locations (with varying success) for nearly 10 years, the reason for the caravan park sites being that they film there. All seems a bit odd really!

I think Marthas farm is one of the most successful new interiors as you're more aware of the exterior in relation to the interior if that makes sense?

I deffo agree about the beach house, the original one was very distinctive and since they never film anything actually at the exterior they shouldve just kept that as a stock shot. Or have Irene move! lol I think they are abit sloppy when it comes to fitting the interior to the exterior, even the original Beach House didn't fit the interior - didn't it have a round part, not seen inside? lol I find it very hard to work out how far apart they all live from each other, and how they live in relation to every where else, partly due to the lack of location filming around the houses but also even in the scripts (and those stock shots).
