  1. Watership Down. It seems to get more traumatic every time I watch it. Still one of my all time faves though
  2. Effing HOT!
  3. ^Don't worry about it, I didn't realise you were so new. People have gotten quite aggressive towards me about Rachel in the past, so now I get a bit catty when people appear to question my motives for not liking her. Which I can see now you weren't doing, so I didn't mean to offend you either
  4. For the record, once again, I do think that Amy is a great actress. Amy deserves all the praise she gets. Rachel is a great character. Any character who can make someone genuinely hate them (leaving out bad acting or writing), by default, is a great character. It means that they are portrayed with enough strength and reality to make the reactions to them - both positive and negative - strong and real. I just happen to be on the negative end of the scale, and I'm not in here to diminish anyone's right to be on the positive end. My reasons are many and varied, and I won't go over them again. As the song goes, "if you don't know me by now, you will never, never, never know me." Let's just all hold hands and be friends, okay? Give peace a chance!
  5. Nine Months. The lesser of two Hugh Grant movies on offer tonight, but... yeah. I hadn't seen it in years. (CANNOT say the same for About A Boy!) It was a bit high energy for my lethargic mood - Tom Arnold and Robin Williams should not be allowed in the same room - but if I'd been in the mood for it, I'm sure it would have been hilarious. The plot was irritating though. If I compare it to About A Boy, About A Boy is about opening up to the possibilities of having other people in your life, having a family in whatever form it takes. Nine Months is about babies, babies, babies, and did I mention BABIES!? Because you know your life is meaningless and self-centered as hell without BABIES!!!!!!! ... Not my favourite message.
  6. The guy who wrote Marley & Me was on The Dog Whisperer the other day, getting help to train his new dog. So he is now aware that it was entirely his fault as an owner if Marley was out of control, because Cesar told him so
  7. I'm trying to work out if Mirrors is based on a (I think) Korean horror movie I saw. Does it end with ? I really enjoyed the Korean version, so if it's the same basic movie, I'd like to check it out
  8. Ah, sweet Die Hard. With A Vengeance! Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jeremy Irons. Can you say awesome ?? And the thought that Jeremy Irons and Alan Rickman would be Sure they're older guys - older still, now - but those voices... mmm Die Hard movies are so awesome. I can't believe it's taken me this long to see more than the first one.
  9. Watched The Man Who Cried last night. I had to stay up til almost 2am, but it was worth it. I don't usually like WW2 movies, but it was definitely about the innocent people affected by it rather than people running about with guns thinking they're awesome. Eh. War movies... Anyway, it was set in Paris, starred Christina Ricci and Cate Blanchett, and had Johnny Depp as a Gypsy horse trainer. Works for me On a very different note, I just finished watching Aquamarine. I don't know why I used to roll my eyes when people raved about it years ago. I guess I thought it was just a kid's show, which is an odd thing for me to think since a lot of my favourite movies are kid's shows. Anyway, happy to report that it was really funny. Not going on a favourites list any time soon, but it was fun catching glimpses of Lincoln Lewis in the background, and hearing Shaun Micalef attempt an American accent . Danni Sutherland and Katya Kinski, lol, what an awesome casting job for the world's biggest b*tches!
  10. I don't know what movie I watched last, but I did watch the extra long pilot episode of Legend of the Seeker on Youtube the other day. I was watching it because IMDB said that Jason Smith was in it, but I didn't see him . He is however definitely in a later episode, but the pilot was so intriguing that I've decided to watch all the episodes in order until I get to it. It's like a cross between the LOTR movies and Xena. Probably because it's about magical destinies, and made in NZ by the same guys who made Xena... I really like it, and Jason sweetens the deal so much (peasant shirt, leather pants, bad teenage mustache, sword fighting...) that I might develop diabetes just from watching it!

    All Saints

Just watched the episode with Charlotte's dog... *shakes head.* It's ironic that a woman with MS, suffering pain and indignity every day, can't legally choose to end her own life, but a perfectly healthy dog that makes one mistake in its own backyard is murdered senselessly in the blink of an eye, and that's not only legal but enforced by law. That hit far too close to home.

    All Saints

The new season looks like Rush, which I don't like. All Saints should be All Saints. Let Rush be Rush. I've stumbled upon Hallmark episodes that sync up pretty well to where Channel 7 abandoned the afternoon eps. It's not going well though. Matt seems to have been replaced by some annoying busy-body, the writers are trying to force me to care about Nelson, and also... Mitch is really sick... At least I have Scottie back. Ah, sweet Scottie
  13. The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008). I like Keanu Reeves, I like Jennifer Connolly. I have no idea what the point of that movie was. Which is to say, I can't see why they didn't present their one and only point - human ignorance impacts negatively on the planet - in a 2 minute Planet Ark commercial instead. It would have been much more powerful and effective. I imagine it also wouldn't have wasted so much of the precious resources that the makers of the movie seems so determined to preserve, lest we all be horribly crushed from above somehow.
  14. I forget the French title, but it was "Merry Christmas." It was on ABC last night. It was about French, German, and Scottish soldiers in WW1 taking a break from fighting to share Christmas together. It was sad that they all got in trouble for it, but it was still a nice idea. True story too. I don't usually like war movies, or French movies, but it was only one-third French, and there was more singing than fighting, so it all evened out It was pretty good.
  15. I watched Die Hard 2 last night. It was very festive Put me in a Bruce Willis mood, so now I'm watching Sin City
  16. Mr and Mrs Smith. It's possible I've seen it before, but all I remembered was Seth Cohen tied to a chair... so I'm pleased to say that the rest of the movie was very amusing . The car chase was very well choreographed, and Brad Pitt is always delightful to watch

It's a bit hard to give a character a big flowery departure when the actor's thrown himself off a building. They probably didn't have a lot of scenes in the can to work with. I think they did a great job and watching the other characters talking about losing Ricky, knowing that the actors had all lost Mark, was especially heartbreaking. It's a miracle that any of them had the strength to do anything after that. I think I can cut them some slack if it wasn't the most exciting resolution to the season.
  18. Drop Dead Fred! I hadn't seen it in yeeeaaarrsss. I must have watched it on repeat as a child, because I could still anticipate some of the lines lol. Also, I think I had a thing for Rik Mayall in that movie... That's a little disturbing Hmmm...
  19. Hey, I've only had internet cafe access for the past week so I haven't really had the time to keep up with fics. I just wanted to let you know that I'll read this when I can, I haven't abandoned it! Keep writing (If you want to, of course. No pressure )
  20. Just edited this out of my Aus Discussion post, because it was getting off-topic: Melody has always been a selfish attention-seeker. Geoff didn't want to be with Melody, but she stalked him until he told her to back off - loudly, because she wouldn't listen any other way - at which point she played the victim because in her mind they were boyfriend and girlfriend. How was it Geoff's fault if Melody is aggressively delusional? When Geoff was with Melody, Christine had an AVO taken out on him, but Melody still insisted that they see each other. She simply didn't care that he could get arrested, as long as she got what she wanted. Then there was Axel... we'll never know what happened there... What we do know is that when he died, Melody made it all about her. No "I'm sorry that Axel died. I didn't like him, but he didn't deserve that." No. She was just paranoid that something bad would happen to HER because she somehow reordered the universe in order for him to die... If anyone is evil here, it's her. She was right the first time
  21. Bit short, but it got the point across. It might have worked better as a poem. I'm not really sure what it was about, specifically, but I can relate it to Robbie killing Graham - having "red" blood on his hands. It's probably not about that at all, but it works for me Good work
  22. Starting this thread on behalf of Corey, who did ask for the phrase "mates forever" to be added to the subtitle, but I think there are quite a few of us who wouldn't mind seeing their "mateship" evolve into something else... Discuss
  23. Roman I think said something (or maybe someone said to him) about having two 17 year olds in his house, meaning Nicole and Aden. There has also been a couple of occasions where Aden hasn't been allowed to drink this year. He's been deaged, and there seems to be no apparent reason for it. If you watch the clip with Tam, which I did the last time this was brought up, he's actually very caring and gentle with her, and she looks a bit nervous - indicating that she knows what's going on - but she nods for him to kiss her. She makes the decision and he doesn't force her to do anything. I don't think anyone had decided on the abuse stuff when this happened, but I've explained it by saying that he was on top of Tam - he was in control of the situation, unlike when Nicole attacked him. (If Axel attacked Melody, Nicole attacked Aden.) He wasn't taking advantage of Tam in my opinion, and he wouldn't have felt like she was taking advantage of him. You could even argue that he wanted to get her drunk, and get a bit drunk himself, in order to make it easier for him to get with her. She wouldn't be any kind of threat if she was a bit out of it, and he wouldn't be completely aware of what was going on so he'd be less inhibited about it. I don't see that incident as being unmeshable with what we know now, I think it just takes a bit of creativity to make it fit.
  24. Yes, he did do that . I could defend his reasons, from a "he's only human" point of view, but not his actions. He was jealous of Geoff and wanted to knock him down a few pegs, but what he did was very dangerous. Geoff could have easily suffocated, or died of alcohol poisoning, since he'd had a lot and he never drank before. It was very stupid. They're both lucky that it wasn't more serious. They had a very awkward scene when Aden started dating Belle. Aden was in Geoff's house, so he decided to be civil and just say hello to him. Geoff decided to do the same, so I guess that they've just learned to get along for Belle's sake. Geoff's also been the less aggressive of the two; his Christian love angle has prompted him to reach out to Aden on several occasions, including when Axel died. Aden kept knocking him back, but I think they're pretty much over their differences now. Aden's done a lot of growing up, and Geoff's default mode is acceptance and understanding. Except when he's got a bee in his bonnet and gets all judgmental and has to be told to shut up about it I don't know if Geoff knows about the abuse, but I don't think it would matter. Aden's Belle's boyfriend and he's been a good friend to Melody - that would mean a lot to Geoff.
  25. Aden didn't take advantage of Tam. He offered her alcohol, she knowingly took it, she wanted to kiss him - he didn't force her to do anything else - and she complained when she was taken away from him, and in the morning when she was fully sober, she still wanted to be with him. However, Aden's mates - NOT Aden - took it upon themselves to film him kissing her and spread it around the school. Aden then went along with it to save face, but it was not his idea, he was just trying to act like a stud so as not to suffer the same embarrassment that Tam did. It wasn't nice of him to do, but it wasn't an evil masterplan either. The only real issue was her age, 15, but according to the current writers, Aden would have only been 16 at the time so I don't see that that's such a big deal.
