  1. You Can't Stop The Murders So funny. A dream cast of Aussie comedians. Brilliant writing and acting, directing, editing, everything! My faith in the industry has been restored. Ah
  2. ^Yeah, I think I overreacted a bit. I have seen a lot worse movies. I'm struggling to think of one with less of a plot though. It's just that after listening to the hype for years, thinking that I've missed out on something important, and then finding out that it really is nothing, I felt pretty cheated. I suppose that's not really the movie's fault, but the promoters and an inexplicably positive audience response. *Shrug.*
  3. Wolf Creek. Now, maybe it was heavily, HEAVILY edited for TV, but that was the first time I'd seen it, and I can't say I was impressed with it at all. The characters were inane, the script (if there was one) was pointless, and the horror, after taking an hour to get going, made no sense whatsoever. I hate movies like that, where it's just blood for the sake of blood. Bad things like that happen in the real world, sure, but presenting them without any sense of motivation or insight - only being interested in creating knee-jerk prejudices and largely ungrounded fear in an audience - is what the news is for. If you're going to make a character who kills people for fun, tell me why he thinks it's fun. Tell me why Unless it all comes back to the line of, "I'm doing people a favour, getting rid of the kangaroos. There's too many of them out here, just like tourists." Okay, wow, so I found his one-dimensional motive. Woo-hoo! He could have done that without , but then, where would all the "cool" blood come from ? I'm ashamed as an Australian to realise that this is one of our "greatest" theatrical exports. Thank god we were responsible for the original Saw movie. We have SOME well-earned street-cred in the Horror genre there. Wolf Creek... apart from the overtly realistic acting - meaning that it was so well acted, I felt like I actually was watching a group of pointless, irritating, idiotic d***heads who had no business wasting other people's oxygen, let alone expecting me to care whether they live or die, when they don't even care enough themselves about that to put on a seat belt, or stop chain-smoking and binge-drinking, or insulting weird strangers... apart from that, and the fact that the cinematography was nice... It has to be creeping up towards Texas Chainsaw Massacre territory. Not really as bad, because the circumstances of Wolf Creek are at least believable, even if no-one involved with the movie thought it was necessary explain why it was believable, or why I should care if d***heads are the only victims of outback serial killers these days... but... Jesus, I wasted two hours of my life watching it, and another twenty minutes ranting about how bad it was. Terrible. Just terrible. I can't believe it ever rated with anyone. EDIT: And another thing! The whole point of the story was revealed in the last minute or so, through post-script summaries! NONE of that was actually explored in the action or dialogue of the movie! So the story actually was there, but they chose to ignore it in favour of, you guessed it, blood for blood's sake. Man I could take that movie back to the editing room and get a half-decent story out of it. As is, it's barely an 8th-decent... So frustrating, since it was all there, they just chose to handle it like... well like John Jarrett with a tied up victim. Hacking and prodding, saying nothing of consequence and getting nowhere interesting in the process. Just a whole lot of blood and nothing else to show for it. And not seeming to care about that one bit... People should need a license before inflicting these sorts of movies upon the world. A license and a professional guidance-counselor to make sure that the movie has a point, and that that point is realised by all involved. It hurts to think that money was wasted on that movie, and that cinematographer, when both could have been used so much more wisely.
  4. You do know that Kirk's father was George, right? Yes, I was referring to Jim Kirk... Kim's son... Anyway... As far as becoming a Trekkie goes, I have a loose plan to borrow the original series from a friend. I'm not looking to get into all the various incarnations (maybe Next Generation for Patrick Stewart, but I doubt it), and unless the movies slot in with the series, I probably won't go looking for them either. I'm sure they're good, but I don't have a lot of commitment to pure technological, alien/space-based sci-fi. I prefer Earth-based, mutation and magic-based sci-fi. I'd only be giving the TV series of Star Trek a go based on four actors who I've seen and enjoyed in other things since: William Shatner, George Takei, Leonard Nimoy, and Nichelle Nichols. Two of whom were in Heroes, just like that delightful Zachary Quinto. Of course, it could all be a spell that the movie has cast on me, and it may well be that the movie alone will truly hold my interest. There are just so many people in it that I love. It's like a miracle that's exists just for me, and I don't know what magical thing I could have done to deserve it. Perhaps backtracking the series would be like looking a gift-horse in the mouth. Besides which, if I do end up liking the series, I'll only want to discuss it on the internet, and that's like... like... um... uhhh.... watching an episode of Scrubs, and then walking into a hospital and trying to diagnose the patients...? In short, I'd have no business there, and would get my lungs ripped out for making jokes of the "Kim and Jim" variety. That is not my world. I should stay away from it. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to think this through.
  5. I... Star Trek Thirteen of my dollars - gone! I don't think I'm going to stop at seeing it twice either. I will have to wait until I have some more cash... but... It's okay, I don't need to eat for a while... Kim looks so hot when he's holding the lives of 800 people in his hands... (It's okay, I can say that, it's on the ads.) *Sigh.* Sylar looks so hot when Not sure if that's in the ads, but... hot. Yes, I have problems. Many, varied, disturbing problems... Sylar should use the *Quivers with excitement.*
  6. I called my friend and asked her if she wanted to see Star Trek with me tonight. (Yes, I know, I'm ... I'm... becoming a Trekkie!! ) She said she's going with her mum for mother's day tomorrow. (Her' mum's a fan.) Then she asked me, "Who does Karl Urban play? Spock?" and I said, "Uh... no. Karl Urban plays Dr McCoy. Zachery Quinto plays Spock." And then... she said something very hurtful. She said... "Oh, I don't care about Spock then." And I, once I could find the words, said: "But... but he's Sylar!" "...Who?" "... !" Then I told her that I was deeply wounded, and didn't know what else to say. It's official. I'll have to cut her out of my life.
  7. I asked my friend to go back to the cinema and steal the film-reel and projector for me, because I want to own it NOW - I can't wait for the DVD! - but he didn't He could at least still that framed poster of Zach Quinto for me... Some friend
  8. Ohmygodohmygodohmygod STAR TREK!!!!!! I am NOT a Star Trek fan girl, but I AM a Heroes, Home and Away, Xena, etc fan girl and MAN was I in Heaven!!!! What I know of Star Trek, I mostly picked up from Futurama, so the many references I got to that were also exciting. Zachery Quinto... I want to marry him and have his emotionless/psychotic babies. But I... don't think that's likely... for several reasons... I loved that I also want to say SUCK IT!!! to anyone who still thinks that Chris Hemsworth can't act. Suck. It. All movie long, everyone was like, "Kirk, your dad was AWESOME." And I was sitting there smugly thinking, "Yes he certainly was " It did not escape my notice either that Jim is one letter away from Kim. Literally one letter. J precedes K in the alphabet. Think about it. Awesome, awesome movie. I'd recommend it to fans of: Star Trek, Heroes, Home and Away (assuming you have the good sense to REALISE THAT CHRIS HEMSWORTH IS GREAT!), Lost, Xena, Whatever that comedy series was that starred John Cho that I liked... Off Center, apparently... people who like Eric Bana and Simon Pegg... And if you don't like any of these things, what's wrong with you!??! Go see Star Trek and see what you've been missing!
  9. The DaVinci Code. Most of it... Never read the book, and I wasn't paying much attention to the movie. It's old news now, so I've heard most of the shocking revelations before. I did like the way that the Mary Magdalene character in the painting was flipped to rest on Jesus' shoulder. It made me go "awww " It also made going to Church for a Christening this morning a bit more interesting, since they had a tapestry of The Last Supper on the wall lol. I don't care much for Tom Hanks these days, but Ian McKellin rocks
  10. Wolverine Wolverine has always been my second favourite X-Men character. A very close second. (Actually, he might have been third after Morph for a while, but I don't really remember Morph anymore, so...) Who is my first favourite character? Why, Gambit of course. Sweet, charming, lovable, sexy Gambit When I first saw pictures of the actor playing Gambit in this movie, I wasn't sure what to expect. He was pretty, but Gambit was always more sexy than pretty... like, he was so hot (literary) that he didn't need store-bought good looks to seduce everyone and everything in his path... I am happy to report that the Gambit I saw tonight was very, very sexy. The only thing that could have made him better is if he had have called someone - anyone - "cher." I would have just died. Plenty of time for that though in the Gambit-centric sequel(s), Mr and Mrs movie producers (hinthinthint!) Fyi, there's a scene at the end of the credits. It's not very exciting, but it's there.

    All Saints

I'm waiting for Bart to get rabies, or possibly a less deadly but still serious infectious disease. I mean from that chick biting him, not from fraternizing with Frank's niece. Although...
  12. Well, I'd recommend it There's not much of a story, but I think the performances of Goku and Bulma are worth the price of admission
  13. Im very iffy about seeing this. Ive been a dragon ball fan for a very long time, and im scared that this movie may ruin it for me. It's definitely a departure from the series, but I think the essence of it is the same. Roshi isn't a creepy little bald man, for instance, but he's still a dirty perve who wears Hawaiian shirts That was the most reassuring part of it for me, and the fact that Bulma's last name is still Briefs lol. I went in with the attitude that it's its own movie, and nothing could be as good as Dragon Ball Z was to me (Dragon Ball was never my favourite), so I just enjoyed it for what it was: a quirky little film about aliens, super-powers, and the impending apocalypse. Same old same old I'm really hoping that there will be a sequel starring Vegeta
  14. Dragon Ball The plot kind of jumped around a bit, and the back-stories to Piccolo and Goku were somewhere between confusing and incomprehensible, but for what I hope was just the first installment of more movies, it wasn't bad. It kept all the fun and charm that I associate with Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. And underneath all the make-up and voice manipulation, I could still tell that it was James Marsters as Piccolo, so that made me happy. The rest of the cast were great too. Goku was very amusing, and I'm glad that Yamcha was in it. I always felt he was an underrated character in the cartoons.
  15. I don't think I can sign the petition. With I can't say for sure where my loyalties lie I will say that I would rather see Joey and Charlie dancing on grave than see Why must Charlie have such brilliant chemistry with everyone? Why ??
  16. Charlie wasn't gay either.
  17. When you think about it, the last time he saw someone consistently damaging their own health like this and expecting him to help... his solution was going to be a mercy killing... What a scary place for him to be taken back to.
  18. Loved them both tonight. They stole the show, and not in a "We have all the screen-time!" way, they just nailed every second of every scene they were in, even with a look or a touch, not saying anything out-loud but saying everything with their actions. Todd and Jess are both such spectacular actors. I sometimes feel that they're too good to be in such a large ensemble cast. I wish they had their own drama series, where they could go so much deeper into the dark and gritty storylines they're given. It might be time for one of those Home and Away special DVDs, like the one about Kirsty and Kane, with an extra special M/MA rating, which could casually extend to the bedroom scenes... I also think that Aden had the best line tonight, when he said to Leah: "It must be nice not to be the caterer for once."
  19. Christine I didn't remember the movie, but I remembered that it was good. So when I watched it, I was not disappointed. It was even better than I expected. It was awesome I borrowed it from my friend though, so I have to give it back and buy my own copy, if I can find it
  20. Not sure of Chris' Ca$h character, but he *may* be a bank robber... or something... he has a gun, so we know he's cool . In Legend Of The Seeker, Jason switched places with The Seeker, and lied to everyone about who he was, putting them and himself in danger They've both been such baaad boys since leaving H&A FYI, Jason is now trained in the use of combat weapons ranging from broadswords to nun chucks. Also, he can make pizza, complete with base-spinning! My boys... so pretty... so talented... so... EDIT: Ahahaha! A Hemsworth on Facebook!
  21. I don't remember it! Is that when they crashed Irene's car? I was a FOOL not to tape those episodes when I had the chance! >.< Yes, The Cabin In The Woods is going to be spectacular. Soooo many of my favourite things I'm also looking forward to Star Trek. It'll only be a couple of seconds of Chris, but Zach Quinto and Eric Bana will be a nice consolation prize there As for my dear, sweet Jason - has anyone seen him in Legend Of The Seeker? Hehehehehehe
  22. I noticed myself hijacking the Charlie/Joey thread tonight (the gay-love is blossoming ), and the other day this link was posted to a blog about Chris Hemsworth's new movie Ca$h, so I thought, why not revive the ye-olde Robbie and Kim thread ? In the spirit of everyone being friends, I fully expect the "plank"-like comments and such to resurface, but for now, let's just look at the pretty... Mmmm
  23. Well, I guess they can't all be Hunter-Hyde babies... *dreamy sigh*
  24. You can hope for Joey's brother to breed with Charlie's sister, or indeed with Charlie. Same basic DNA. That's how I got my Rim baby
  25. I feel like I'm in the minority (what, me !?) but I was excited by the kiss. I thought it was purrrrfect My only complaint is that I had to wait so long to see it >.<
