  1. Why? Was he a bad actor? He seemed to play the part of Ram pretty well!
  2. You should have seen him when he ran Blackmoor. He really was a Nazi from hell. And the way he treated Aboriginal social worker Pamela Madigan. When he called her a darkie she slapped him one! And when he was Jim Fletcher's Army mate until Mr Fletcher and Meg double-crossed him. Mr Fletcher paid, with a flamin' bomb delivery. It destroyed his family, blew them to smithereens. Then when Alf came to Summer Bay, he became Craven-lite.
  3. Alf hated Ryan for no reason. Was it because he double-crossed his beloved surrogate daughter Marilyn by dating her to make it look like he was no longer going out with Lucinda? I don't buy that the whole town hated Ryan just cos he broke Nick and Loo up. Alf does have a habit (like his sister, who he chastises for doing the same thing) of not minding his own business. Alf was a lite version of the notorious Butler-Craven he was in Prisoner, where he blew up his mate's family, and had Loreli raped and threatened her kid Zoe.
  4. My "axe to grind", Captain Hulk, is about the deluded belief about a couple "knowing" they are "right" for each other so quickly after they "first meet". Tell me something: Is your mindset about suspension of disbelief when it comes to how "couples" on the show magically find each other, and live on "happily ever after" like in the fairy tales?
  5. This is what makes me so cross about the Ben sux Carly affair. They started doing it only like 7 episodes after he arrived in the Bay as a random stranger, and to think they are still together TODAY, like 30+ years later, is simply unrealistic.
  6. What happened to my post that was "pending approval"? All I said was, the word "wog" wasn't always taken to be offensive, neither now nor then. Was that in itself offensive? (admin/moderator please feel free to PM me to explain) When you say the the word "wog" was "hacked out" by ITV, was it bleeped, silenced, or the second it was said cut out resulting in a jump cut?
  7. The "Pippa swap", as you call it, would have to rank as one of the most embarrassing cases of glaring appearance changes in the history of any soap. Why couldn't the producers have at least saved face by at least killing "Pippa" off (after killing Tom off), seeing as was impossible for the blonde-haired "Pippa" to work alongside Michael as on-screen husband and wife?
  8. Locations question: Where is the farm Tug and his father lived in 1992? This location is used when Shane gets his foot caught in a dog trap in 1992, again in early 93 with Aunty Mavis, and again in late 1993-early 1994 when his father is released from jail, drunkenly tries to kiss Sarah, and disappears.
  9. Thanks Chris J and Dan F. I'm sorry about the forum software's limitations
  10. With the help of the "Shazam" mobile app, I have made some pretty interesting discoveries about the underscores used in Home And Away. They don't seem to be Mushroom Records tracks played in the Diner, the Surf Club, on the radio etc., and they are not Mike Perjanik underscores. In Episode 1145 (the final episode of 1992), when Blake Fin went scuba-diving, the following 4 tracks played: Mirage Ray Russell Alien Ray Russell Submariner Ray Russell Fantasy Island Ray Russell* Note also: Fantasy Island also played in Episode 1683 when the recap from the end of 1682 played of Andrew telling Donna we have to talk, followed by Rob pulling up in his ute. In Episode 1146 (the first episode back for 1993), when Fin ran out of air and was rescued from the shipwreck, a track called Undercurrent by Douglas Wood played.
  11. Hi Dan & co., Is there a way of archiving messages before it gets full? I hate throwing stuff out permanently and it would be a shame to be forced to throw out stuff I want to keep
  12. sheesh....What a real bootlicker this Broadhurst person was. Anyway. I have another question: Remember when Ryan came back to town, in Episode 1117? Nick hated his guts for "ruining his life", and still held a grudge against him despite the fact his life with Loo was behind him. Shane hated him because he changed his mind about charging him over the stolen car. My question is, why did the whole town hate him so that Alsa and Bobby wouldn't give him a job at the Diner? What did he do to them? I thought his beef was only concerning Nick and Shane. Why the whole town, like as if he were a mass murderer? And all because he caused Nick and Loo to split up? Why is it the whole town's business what went on between Nick and Lucinda?
  13. I would have thought after 2 husbands, Pippa would be sick of it, plus how could she "fall for" another man so easily? Broadhurst got into Angel's pants far too easily for my liking, and he was already taking over from Shane even before he died. Plus being as obscenely rich as he was, you'd think he'd be one of the "evil" characters. Money being the root of all evil and all that. But not Broadhurst? Why??? Phil sux Marilyn? Marilyn is just too gullible! And why did Marilyn never have any children or "accidental pregnancies" to him? Doesn't her virgin-before-marriage attitude even permit her to have sex even after marriage?
  14. That's good.
  15. The writers/producers didn't major in geography? How far is the Hornsby Court House from the Summer Bay Peninsula? Pity they didn't have Google Maps back in those days
  16. The mere fact that writers can fiddle with the ages of characters at all makes no sense. Also, what's a "soras" and what's "desorasing"? Is there an internal jargon spoken by fans that I'm not aware of?
  17. Thanks for clearing that up, Dan. I'm glad to know there is no conspiracy. I was thinking the worst.
  18. Yeah, "unlucky in love" yeh that'd be right. It would be interesting to hear from Dan F why Lucinda Croft's and Alex Bennett's profiles are "unclickable", I mean when you go to the main site, under "Characters" and look up those names. Most of them you can click on, but with them their faces are replaced by "generic" heads and nothing happens when you try to click on them (like is it my browser or my computer or faulty mouse?)
  19. I thought somebody knew something about why Lucinda Croft and Alex Bennett left the show in 1992 and 1996? Anyway. My next question is: Why didn't the writers pair Damian up with any girl in a successful relationship (other than the very temporary affair with Selina)?
  20. Back then, I simply found the accent annoying. But nowadays, when they elected Jacinda Ardern to the top job........different story. By far the most despicable leader they have ever had, and in global terms up there with a similar-looking Finnish prime minister. Took awhile, but New Zealanders eventually woke up to themselves and saw fit to make Jacinda resign over one of the most repressive COVID19 regimes in the world.
  21. I'm not sure if this belongs in this thread as this is about the site rather than the show Why aren't the profiles for Alex Bennett and Lucinda Croft in https://www.backtothebay.net/characters/categories/a-f/ clickable?
  22. What, with Travis sucking Kelly, and her sneering NZ accent?
  23. You mean Lyn's family are part of some Scientology-like cult?
  24. It was his father's car, he said, when explaining why he changed his mind and charged Shane over its theft
  25. Has anyone else noticed Ryan's car had NSW numberplates even though he was supposed to be a visitor from Perth?
