I like that they do seem to always try to secure the "real" Summer Bay church for the most important events though.

We'd never have guessed Edward!

He did sound a bit different, his accent was a bit thicker and he spoke more confidently (the character himself was much happier and more confident). He was also slimmer again and looked a lot healthier. He revealed that had found religion and it had straightened him out (though they don't really go into more detail). There's a funny scene with a drunk Lance and Martin making noise in the caravan park and then trying to blame it on Jack when Joel complains. He didn't really have a storyline, just sitting around with the other old characters reminiscing. His final scene had a very short but emotional moment though (bit of a tear-jerker) but I wouldn't go looking it up because it's a bit of a spoiler.

Don't worry, I just meant they

Yes Jack's changed a lot this year. His constant scams and apologies in 1994 were getting tiresome though. The character needed to develop. It would be nice to see him be happy again though.I agree I think Daniel Amalm played the part really well. 1995 is such a strong year for the show and he's very much a part of that.

I don't like the blurb on BTTB about Sarah being bisexual and falling in love with Zoe. It feels like it was written after the fact. I am sure Sarah only loved Felix and just pretended to love Zoe and used her to escape. But I could be wrong. It's hard to imagine someone as messed up as Sarah being that cunning and devious. So maybe she and Zoe did fall in love or at least have a bond.

Wasn't Irene uncharacteristically harsh towards Josie Russell years ago too? She seemed to tar her with the same brush as Angie and nothing Josie did was ever good enough, even though she was a good person.
-
She was a crystal meth user and it messed up her head. She believed one of the residents of Summer Bay had killed Felix when in fact he died of an overdose.

Yes! I don't understand this at all. Whilst it's important to remember that Roo was only truly villainous for a short time, and spent most of her original stint on the show making up for her mistakes and actually trying to be a good person, I think it's also important to remember she WAS the show's original bitch and had a REAL nasty side to her. Of course in real life it's not unrealistic that someone who was a nasty teenager can be a nice person 20+ years later! But this is TV and I can't understand why the writers have never taken advantage of the fact that they have a character with Roo's history and instead have just made her this saintly wise woman. Surely any writer/storyliner worth their salt would be jumping at the chance to explore these already-established other sides to a potentially complex and fascinating character. I'm not saying she should be a total bitch but she should certainly have more of an edge to her. There were a few subtle lines referencing her strained relationship with Morag when she first returned but not nearly enough was made of it, and her relationship with Alf should be a lot more complex too.

Strange to think she's been around longer in this stint than either of her previous two stints and yet this one is nowhere near as memorable. She's just a nice lady who smiles all the time now, lacking so much of her former personality and quirks.

Not that I recall.

One of the runners is also an extra on the show and was in the background at Shane and Angel's wedding as well as in the DIner in some scenes. She is also the girl who gets pulled off the guy's shoulders in the pool in another shot.

Pippa's 2009 return was so poorly written it was embarrassing. The fan reaction to it was so bad thatI'm not surprised the writers have decided not to go back there. Ths is typical of post 2008 Home and Away. Rather than say "We screwed up, we'll learn and do better", they say "We're not going back there again". Ironic that she thinks they wouldn't want a blonde Pippa as the original actress was blonde. She also says she woudn't dye her hair red again... does this mean she dyed it all those years?

There is a shot of a hand on the fridge door, but Ailsa sees it.

This storyline has actually just aired on the early years. Ailsa was close to having a breakdown even prior to the attack in the Diner. She was super stressed as Alf was away, leaving her to run 2 business and a home, as well as looking after Duncan, dealing with Laura's death, and dealing with Curtis' grief (and alcoholism) following her death. The diner attack simply pushed her over the edge. She became terrified to leave the house, answer the door, or even answer the phone, and even started to believe that Alf had arranged the attack to get rid of her. She took a bunch of hallucinogenic anti-depressants shortly before seeing Bobby's ghost. It is therefore strongly implied Bobby was a hallucination but who knows, she could have been real.
-
^But why? Why do/would they want this?
-
^Yeah there was a fake version of Madonna's "Vogue" as well in the early days of the Diner.

Nice touch.

Did you name them after Alan Bateman?
-
Rumour has it Martha has changed her name and identity and moved to Erinsborough. Hugo remains at large.

Terri Garner... there's a blast from the past. I forgot she slept with Lachie.

Am I imagining things or was there an episode where someone (Duncan?) got cornered by an alligator?

This seems to only happen when you are typing the post, but when you actually submit the post it doesn't appear like that, it just looks normal.

Maybe there were plans to keep using Doris on a recurring basis, but not necessarily as a main character. I think Celia was always in the pipeline, regardless.
