  1. I agree. There were always faults. I think we may be more aware of them now but as you said, the enjoyment factor is still there and very strong which is something that's not there (for me) with the current show.
  2. The problem with the Bobby storyline is that the writing isn't great in my opinion. They're not really explaining why Bobby is doing what she's doing, and feeling what she's feeling. We get that she's an angry character, she always has been, but other than hints here and there about being fed up of being walked all over etc, the writers aren't really giving us anything to work with. She's just storming all over the bay like a little thunder cloud and hurting Sam in the process. If there was even just one scene with Ailsa and Pippa where she had an actual heart-to-heart and explained just how hurt she is, and WHY she is feeling so betrayed etc, it might help us understand what's actually going on in her mind. I just feel the storyline is lacking sympathy from Bobby's part and it's almost like the writers are writing the story as if they want us to be on Greg's side.
  3. Ben Unwin in a small pre-Jesse role in episode 1277 as "Eric" a guy who was chatting to Sarah in the Diner.
  4. Does anyone know the song that played at the end of 1276?
  5. I agree, but it was also a typical (in a less good way) Home and Away storyline in that the writers were like "Ok, we've done our bit. We've had a character who is intellectually disabled. Write him out now". How convenient that just as Luke decided that Bill could stay permanently, Bill decided to leave. Lucky for the writers, eh? ;) Otherwise they might have been stuck with a character for more than a fad. That's not to say the storyline wasn't good though. It was a surprising highlight of the year. And it wasn't even mentioned in BTTB's list of 1993 highlights!
  6. Oh that would be AWESOME. Kind of like Morag v/s Brett Macklin but much better!
  7. Does anyone know the reason why Barbara Stewart was recast in the 1997 storyline? Was the original actress unavailibe? Or did they simply want a different actress to play the part considering they basically re-wrote the character?
  8. Excellent news, Dan. Thanks. I was just looking on your site yesterday to see how far off we are from a certain event and was pleasantly surprised to see it's still a good few weeks away. In my memory it happened much sooner after Greg confesses his affair (what on earth could I be talking about?! ) I agree with RedRanger about John Adam's performance during Bill's missing storyline. He did a really great job and I was surprised how much I felt bad for him. This seems to be one of those storylines that got forgotten somewhere along the line and nobody ever talks about, but was actually pretty good. I think this may be Luke's equivelent to Donna's domestic violence storyline though, in that it's the only decent one he has. Time will tell.
  9. It's weird, when Bill first ran off into the bush I kept thinking about the time Haydn ran away and fell into an old mine shaft. Then in episode 1268 they actually used the same music from that Haydn story for Bill!! Mike Perjanik certainly has a great memory for detail. Something else I thought about was Fisher's attitude towards Bill. He's been mostly tolerant. Probably a good thing nobody has told Luke about what Fisher tried to do to Nico! I really enjoyed the storyline with Bill being misssing this week, it was very emotional with a great ending too. I was actually expecting Laura to be the one who finds Bill and having to bring him home would force her into the community but I was wrong. Nice plan Angel came up with at the end of Friday's episode. I wonder if she came up with it herself or if Sarah's in on it. For that matter, I wonder if Shane is in on it! Tug has gone way too far this week and I no longer feel in any way sorry for him. I do, however, feel very sorry for Bobby. It feels like a lot was going on this week and it was hard to fit everything in, but I'm glad they managed to squeeze in a scene of Ailsa comforting Bobby, even if it was extremely short. Maybe next week Pippa might get around to visiting her!
  10. On a related note, even though she's still a bit dodgy, Melissa's acting has really improved since her first episode.
  11. I've got a lot of confusing issues with the whole Sarah/Tug/Shane/Adam thing! 1) I feel like the whole issue of Sarah being forced into a kiss and held so that she couldn't get away, has kind of been brushed under the carpet. It was assault, wasn't it? 2) I feel that Tug has been unfairly treated. Yes he was wrong to jump on stage and bash Shane but how long was everyone else going to stand by and let it go on for? Was he just supposed to sit there for what, 2, 5, 10 minutes? Nobody else was making a move. He wasn't to know that Luke was, apparantly "about to". He certainly didn't look like he was. Sarah says she didn't need anyone to come to her rescue, well she clearly wasn't able to defend herself. 3) So Shane shows absolutely no guilt or regret for what he did, ruining a show that people had put months of work and money into, not to mention assaulting and humiliating an innocent girl, yet in the same week he is MORALLY OUTRAGED that somebody could target the Rosses (with whom he has shared little screentime apart from Damien). I found that a little jarring! 4) Everyone was really rough on Adam. And to be honest, this is a problem I have not just in this particular storyline but with the way Adam is treated in general. He comes across to me like a loveable scamp, who always mucks things up but his heart is always in the right place. But everyone treats him like he's a horrible, selfish, nasty person. And I really hate there were no apologies from Alf, Michael and others after the things they said to him. Alf told him to get out of town, not to mention calling him some pretty nasty names. There's a few mentions of Bobby's past recently that make me think the writers are reminiscing in the lead up to... you know what. Bobby talking about her past marraige to Frank and then how she drifted for a while before fostering Sam and then eventually meeting Greg was like a summary of her time on the show! And then Roxy talking about how Bobby has helped other kids and used to be a troubled kid herself, it all feels very "This is your life".
  12. Has anyone noticed a slight change in the opening and closing theme in the latest episodes? It's like they have changed the background instruments very slightly. They seem more prominent.
  13. She's one of my all time favourite characters and for that reason I don't want her to come back. I don't trust the writers with her character.
  14. Old times doesn't necessarily mean romantic times. As a side note, I notice she is currently credited as "Roxanne" in the opening titles, but by 1994 (from clips on youtube) she is credited as Roxy. This is the only time I think a character name has changed in the credits. Even Donald remained as "Fisher" throughout his run despite hardly anybody calling him that anymore.
  15. Roxy: Nick please! For old times sake! Nick: What do you mean? We don't have any old times. Roxy: Well we might one day!
  16. Haha! I actually thought the original scene was pretty funny but that was great. Just seen up to 1250. Great cliffhanger where Shane tells Tug his true intentions. I can't help thinking it would have been an even better cliffhanger if it had come as a surprise to the audience too. Looking forward to next week.
  17. I like the fact that after Greg first met Fiona, he started to tell Bobby about it. He said something like "I met this woman called Fiona..." but Bobby wasn't listening and cut him off by talking about something else. I just think it's important to note he didn't meet this woman and think "oooh I'm going to have an affair."
  18. Well that is pretty much what it was about, only they made it more spooky.
  19. Old H&A Fan what did you think of
  20. There was that mini-storyline where Fisher discovered or revealed (I can't remember which) that he had killed Matt's brother years previously. But then it turned out he didn't after all. It gave Matt something to do for about 3 episodes!
  21. !!!!!!!
  22. When Sally tried to hug Pippa and she just stood there motionless, I felt really sorry for Sally. Imogen. Well... that was all quite pointless wasn't it? Really enjoying the whole Shane/Tug/Sarah/Angel/Damien group. Poor Finlay is such a loner these days!
  23. Yeah watching him he being all adorable with Alf and Ailsa gushing over him, it's tinted with sadness knowing the anguish he will cause them both down the line.
  24. She still has the same lovely hair.
  25. Completely agree with this. They have lost a potential classic character in getting rid of Felix, by replacing him with an actor that could very well decide to leave after 2 years. And why? Because Felix wasn't tall and muscular? Such a horrible, shallow show these days.
