Episode 51 The next morning (Monday), Alison and the girls arrive at TAFE and get ready to sit for their half-yearly exams Alison: What’s first? Melissa: Let’s see. *checks the exam timetable* We have our English exam this morning and our Science exam this afternoon. Kat: My worst subject. When’s the Maths exam? Melissa: Tomorrow morning. Sylvia: I didn’t study for Science. *smiles* Rachael: That isn’t something to be proud of Sylvia. During break, you can have the option to STUDY for it. Sylvia: Good one Rachael. *Vicki enters* Vicki: Am I late Lolly? Lolly: Just in time. *Vicki sits with the girls* Kat: You look awful Vic. Vicki: I couldn’t get to sleep last night. I just kept lying there thinking about my mother’s surgery today. Rachael: She’ll be fine sis. Don’t worry. *puts her arm around Vicki* *Lolly gets the class’s attention* Lolly: The English exam starts at 9:30 and ends at 11:00. Later this afternoon, the Science exam will start at 1:00 and end at 3:30. If you have to go to work or any other appointment, see me during break. It’s now 9:29. Episode 50 Early the next morning (Sunday), Vicki gets ready to go back to the city to sit for her half-yearly exams which take place tomorrow. Vicki: Call me if she improves. Karen: I will. Good luck with your exams. *hugs Vicki* Vicki: Thanks. I needed that. *smiles* Karen: Drive safely. Vicki: I will. *gets into her car* Karen: Call me when you get back. Vicki: I will. Goodbye. *drives off* Meanwhile, Melissa is woken up by the phone ringing. She answers it on the bedroom extension. Melissa: *groggily* Hello? Mrs Powell: Hello Melissa darling. Melissa: Mum? Mrs Powell: Who else would it be? Melissa: I told you not to call here anymore after what you did to Nina! Alison: Dina went through that stage during her first month of pregnancy. It’s normal. Jenny: How am I supposed to do the housework when Brock’s at work every week? I find that really challenging now that I’m pregnant. Alison: Why don’t I get Mrs Jackson to help you out a few days a week? Jenny: She wouldn’t mind? Alison: Of course not. Jenny: Hopefully then, I’ll be able to get some rest. *Alison goes over to Jenny and hugs her* At 1:00pm, Vicki arrives back home. She finds Rachael standing on the front porch. Rachael: How’s your mother doing? Vicki: She needs a heart transplant but it’s all good so far. Rachael: When’s the surgery? Vicki: Tomorrow morning. Do you want to come inside and have a coffee? Rachael: Sure. *goes inside the house with Vicki* Vicki: What did you get up to yesterday? Rachael: Apart from studying, I went to the evening church service with my aunty. Vicki: Are you religious? Rachael: I go to church every Sunday. Don’t you? Vicki: No, I don’t. But I do believe in God so I’m not an atheist. *Rachael nods her head* Vicki: How many sugars was that? Rachael: Two. *Vicki puts in two spoonfuls of sugar into Rachael’s coffee* At the shopping centre, Alexis is smearing lip gloss over her lips when Riggot (coming out of Foot Locker) approaches her. Riggot: Hey. Alexis: I’ve been looking for you. *hugs Riggot* Riggot: I needed a new pair of footy boots. My old ones are had it. Alexis: I just bought a new make-up kit over at Grace Bros. None of that Revlon rubbish. *applies some foundation on her face* Riggot: Is there a time were you don’t wear make-up? Alexis: When I shower. But I still look beautiful nonetheless. Vicki: How long will it take? Nurse: We’re not too sure at this stage. But I’ll let you know later on tonight. *walks off* Vicki: What if she dies? Karen: Don’t say that. She won’t die. *Two hours later, Doctor Carter approaches the women* Dr Carter: It seems that a ruptured artery in your mother’s heart caused that second heart attack. Luckily, it wasn’t fatal. But she needs a heart transplant. She’s very lucky to have survived this. Vicki: How long will she be in here for? Dr Carter: Two weeks tops. Karen: Thank goodness. Vicki: This is really good news. Thank you doctor. *Dr Carter nods his head and walks away* Vicki: I’m so happy that she’s alive Karen. Alison: I think I’m going to enjoy working here. *Alison and Clarice continue to pour the batter into the cake tins* Meanwhile at Melissa’s house, Dina is in the living room when Nina opens the front door. Episode 43 Later that afternoon, Alex and Carina leave Holsworthy and go back home. Jessica walks out of the kitchen as Alex and Carina go inside. Jessica: Alex!!!! You’re back! *goes over and hugs him. Then suddenly, she slaps him in the face* Alex: What was that for? Jessica: That’s for leaving! We were worried sick about you! Alex: I’m sorry. Jessica: The boys were worried about you. Alison and her friends were worried about you. And the whole family was worried for you. We thought you were dead or abducted! Alex: I had to leave! Nobody gives a damn about me anyway! The only reason I came back was because I have my exams tomorrow. Once they’re done, I’m hitting the road! *walks into his bedroom and slams the door* Carina: Do you want me to leave? Episode 42 On Sunday morning, Nina returns home after taking a trip to Pleasantview to see old friends. Nina: I’m back! Alison: Hi! How was Pleasantview? *hugs Nina* Nina: It was good. How was the party? Alison: Fantastic. Nina: At least I signed the card before I left. Any phone calls for me while I was away? Alison: You got a phone call from Dina. Nina: I don’t know anyone called Dina. Or Melissa. Alison: Can’t you at least talk to her? Nina: No! To me, they don’t exist. Alison: Fair enough. She just wanted to talk to you. Nina: Don’t care. She is NOT my sister and NEVER will be! At the homeless shelter, Alex and Carina are continuing to talk. They’ve been talking for hours. Alex: So Mum was locked out of the house for two hours before Julianna came in using her spare set of keys. Carina: That must have been so embarrassing being locked out of your own home. Alex: Well it was better than Jaycob’s idea of smashing open a window. *Both laugh* Carina: Have you ever thought of going home to your family? Alex: I do. But I don’t want people on my back about injuring Seru. Carina: I understand. I want to leave the shelter but they put a roof over my head and clothing on my back. Where will I go then? Episode 10 On Monday morning, the Fletcher kids wake up to find Kerry King (Pippa’s sister) in the kitchen. Finlay: Where’s Pippa? Kerry: She’s gone to stay with our parents for a while. She needed a break. Sally: It’s not like Pippa to desert us. Kerry: She didn’t. I’ve been here since late last night and told her to go to Mum and Dad’s for a while. Damian: What happened? *Kerry looks at them with concern* As they walk to school, the Fletcher kids talk about what Kerry has just told them. Finlay: What a nasty, spiteful cow! Wait till I see that bitch! Sally: I just can’t believe she would strike Pippa! How low can you get?!? Damian: I know! Speaking of Pam, I think I see her now. *The Fletcher kids see Pam having a smoke at the front of the school. Finlay walks angrily towards Pam.* Sally: Finlay! No! Episode 41 At 7 oclock that evening, Alex arrives at a homeless shelter in Holsworthy. Once the owner of the shelter shows him around, Alex lays down on his cot bed reading a sports magazine. *A girl possibly in her late-teens lays down in her cot bed and starts talking to Alex* Carina: How come Ive never seen you here before? Alex: I just arrived. Who are you by the way? Carina: Carina Howard. You? Alex: Alex Oloaga. Nice to meet you. Carina: What brings you here? You look like you come from a middle-class family. Alex: I left home. Carina: Why was that? Alex: Because last week at school, I injured one of my friends while we were playing rugby league. His girlfriend had a massive sook at me and called me an idiot. Now, all the others are mad at me. Carina: Poor guy. Ive lived here for a year now. Alex: Why did you come here? Carina: Its a long story. Alex: Besides, only my family will be worried about me. Before they go to bed that night, the Oloagas sit in the living room praying for Alex to come home safely. Christine: Our heavenly Father. Please bring Alex back home to us. Its not like him to just run away from home for no reason. Please our heavenly Father, bring him back home. *starts to cry* Amen. Jessica: Life is just not fair. *wipes away her tears* The next day (Saturday), Alexs friends sit down at the park thinking about what has just happened over the past week. Leon: Why did he run away? Why? Riggot: I know he was deeply upset about injuring Seru but it was an accident. Tyson: Catherine yelling at him didnt help matters. Elijah: She was going to apologise to him yesterday. Tyson: Its her fault if Alex never comes back. Riggot: He will man. I just know it. *The boys then get into a group hug Meanwhile, Catherine is over at Alexis house kicking herself in the teeth after the drama at school. Catherine: Im such an idiot. If I didnt yell at Alex, hed still be here. Alexis: Dont go blaming yourself. You were just upset. Catherine: I know. Seru feels so bad as well. Alexis: Once this whole drama is sorted, everything will be back to normal. Catherine: I sure hope so. *Alexis hugs her best friend* That night, all TAFE students and some Civic High Year 11 and 12 students attend Rachaels welcome home party which is being held at Alisons house. *The party plays all of the latest music and everyone is either socialising, dancing or eating food* Alison: This is so fun! We’ll see you at school on Monday. *they walk off* *Alex gets on the bus while choking back tears* Meanwhile at the Oloaga’s house, Jessica is in a frantic state because Alex isn’t anywhere to be seen. *Julianna walks inside* Jessica: Anna! Have you seen Alex? Julianna: No. Why? Jessica: He isn’t in his room. Unless he’s with Mum… Julianna: That where he probably is. Riggot: Hey Jess! I know what she did to your cat was wrong but that gave you no right to callously humiliate her in front of hundreds of students! Erin: She got what she deserved! Alison: It’s like you’ve got some sort of vendetta against Vicki. When you get to know her, she’s a nice and caring person. Erin: So, now I’ve been replace by her! Is that right? Pippa: Where’s Pam? Joanne: I dunno. She’s not here. I thought she was grounded. Pippa: She set fire to my bed! Joanne: Calm down Mrs Fletcher. She’s not here. I’m telling the truth. Pippa: If you do see her, tell her that she’s going to get the biggest thrashing of her life! Joanne: Will do. *Pippa goes back to her car and drives off. As she drives off, Pam comes out of some bushes and races straight to Joanne’s house* Pam: How furious was she? *smirks* Joanne: Very. I wonder what her face was like when she saw her mattress all burnt! *laughs* Pam: I need a place to crash. May I stay at your place? Joanne: Of course. You’re my best mate. *leads Pam inside* That night, Pam and Joanne are smoking pot with Serena who has come to crash for the night. Episode 8 The next day (Friday), Lynn is ready to go to her sister’s funeral. Irene: Would it be easier if I came with you love? Lynn: Thanks for the support Irene, but I’ll be okay. After the funeral, I’ll be staying at Mum and Dad’s and won’t be back until Sunday around lunchtime. Irene: That’s fine love. *hugs Lynn* I’ll see you Sunday. Lynn: Say goodbye to Sandra for me. Irene: I will love. *Lynn leaves via the back door to drive all the way to Mudgee (where her parents live)* Meanwhile, Joanne is smoking outside the classroom. Unfortunately for her, Fisher catches her red-handed. Fisher: To my office now Miss Brennan! *Fisher leads Joanne to his office* Fisher: Do you know that smoking is prohibited on school grounds? She also cuts up a few of Pippa’s clothes before she gets out a box of matches and lights one up.
