  1. Episode 25 - Attempted Kidnapping Jenny and Alison are continuing to argue with Heather at the hospital. Heather: Since when were YOU his fiancé? Jenny: Since last month! Heather: What kind of man would go out with an ugly thing like you? Alison: At least she didn't sleep with his best mate! Heather: BUTT OUT!!!! THIS IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!! Alison: THE HELL IT'S NOT!!!! YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A DEVIOUS SLAG!!! Jenny: What Alison said! Heather: BROCK LOVES ME!!!! *Brock looks at Heather* Brock: No I don't! You are nothing but a manipulative and selfish woman who only cares about money and herself! Heather: Honey. I made a mistake and I'm sorry. I LOVE YOU! Brock: Well I don't! You've just wasted your time coming here! Heather: YOU CAN ALL GO TO HELL! *storms out of Brock's hospital room* Alison: Don't bother coming back! Meanwhile, Sylvia is at home when the phone starts to ring. She answers it to find the owner of Harleys is on the other end of the line. Sylvia: Hello. Yes, this is her. That is fantastic! When do I start? Tomorrow afternoon will be fine. Thank you so much. Bye. *Mrs Jackson walks in* Mrs Jackson: Who was that? Sylvia: The owner of Harleys. He just rang to tell me that I got the job. Mrs Jackson: That's great Sylvia! When do you start? Sylvia: Tomorrow afternoon straight after TAFE. Mrs Jackson: I hope you work hard. That's all I can ask for. Sylvia: Thanks Mum. *Both hug each other* That evening, Dina is at the shopping centre with Amy looking at baby furniture in K-Mart. Dina: I love that crib. *looks at a pink lace canopy crib* Amy: So do I. It looks very pretty. Dina: Do you think I can afford it? Amy: Lay-by it first and then get it out when the baby is due. Dina: I found out what sex the baby is. Amy: What is it? Dina: It's a girl. Definately a girl. Amy: I'm so happy! Thought of any names yet? Dina: I like Rose and Daisy. But maybe I should name it after my mother. Amy: What was your mother's name? Dina: Nighat. She was Egyptian. Amy: How old were you and Nina when she died? Dina: We were both 8. She had breast cancer. Amy: Do you visit her grave? Dina: Every year for Mother's Day, Christmas and on her birthday. Amy: My parents live in Newcastle. The only chance I have to see them is every other month. Dina: At least you still see them. Amy: You're right. *Dina goes to the lay-by counter and orders the lace canopy crib, a high chair and other baby equipment* After finishing her shopping and saying goodbye to Amy, Dina is walking home when two men approach her. Dina: What do you want? I have to get home. Kidnapper 1: I need directions to the hospital. Dina: Okay. You just turn.... *As Dina turns her back, Kidnapper 1 covers his hand over her mouth while Kidnapper 2 tries to drag her into their car* Kidnapper 2: Shut your mouth or we'll beat you up. *Dina tries to fight back but can't due to her pregnancy. As the kidnappers try to force Dina into their car on their second attempt, Leon is riding his bike and when he sees what's going on, he runs over to the kidnappers* Leon: LET HER GO!!!! *punching Kidnapper 2 in the face* Kidnapper 1: Rack off kid! *pushes him to the ground* *Dina manages to bite Kidnapper 1's hand* Kidnapper 1: OWW!!!! YOU BITCH!!! COME ON!! LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!!! *The kidnappers get back into their car and speed off.* Leon: Are you all right Dina? *Dina shakes her head and starts sobbing* Leon: Let me take you home. *puts his arm over Dina's shoulders* Meanwhile at their house, Melissa and Nina are eating ice-cream and watching television. Nina: Work is gonna suck tomorrow. I have to work from 4:30 till two in the morning. Melissa: Why? Nina: The manager is chucking a sickie to look after her daughter who IS actually sick. *Outside the house, Leon and Dina have a talk. She has finished crying.* Dina: Thanks for saving me. Leon: You're welcome *gives her a hug* I have to go now. Will you be okay? Dina: I'll be fine. Thanks again. *Leon rides away on his bike while Dina goes inside the house* Nina: How was shopping with Amy?   3. Episode 24 - Slow Recovery The next day (Wednesday), Alison is in class talking to her friends before she heads off to the portable classroom out the back to help Justin and Fiona. Alison: Jenny is not taking this well at all. She's been at the hospital all night. Melissa: Poor Jen. Brock will wake up won't he? Alison: He will. But the doctors say they don't know when he'll make a full recovery. Sylvia: When are Jen and Brock getting married? Alison: July. It's only April now. Erin: Don't worry Alison. Try not to think about it. You've got that learning program to worry about. Alison: I'll try to. *Lolly walks into the classroom* Lolly: Good morning class. Whole Class: Good morning Lolly. Lolly: May I see you for a second please Alison? *Alison walks over to Lolly's desk* Alison: Yes? Lolly: Justin's mother called here to tell you that he won't be able to come in today because he's sick. Alison: All right. Thanks for letting me know Lolly. I'll see you after recess. *Alison walks out of the classroom and goes to the portable classroom with Kat* Alison: Could Fiona come and sit with Naomi and Angela? I don't want her to feel lonely. Kat: Of course. She's more than welcome to sit to them. Alison: Can you believe that Riggot, Leon and Alex asked me to forge their parent's signatures because they jigged school? Kat: You know what their families are like. They're tough on truancy. Alison: I only did it because I didn't want them to get into trouble. Kat: I'm sure you knew what was best for them Alison but forgery is a crime. *Both Alison and Kat go inside the portable classroom where they meet up with Fiona, Naomi and Angela* Fiona: Hi Alison. *goes over to Alison and hugs her* Naomi: Kitty Kat! *kisses Kat's cheek* Angela: Hey! Kat: Of course I don't. *Fiona and Alison then sit with Kat, Naomi and Angela* At Civic High School, Hayley and Leon are in Science when Todd once again gives Hayley a hard time. Todd: Hey retard. Leon: Shut up and leave her alone Todd! Todd: Why should I? Leon: Because I said so! Hayley: No Leon. Let me do the talking. *turns around and faces Todd* I actually feel sorry for you Todd. Because I now I know what kind of a moron you really are. Just because you like to spend every day being a miserable sack of s*** doesn't give you the right to bully other people. Yes I repeated Year 8 but I am NOT ashamed to admit it. I just did it right now in front of the whole class. So you better watch your mouth from now on. Because if you don't you're not going to have many friends at this school! *Todd is too shocked to speak and immediately leaves the classroom* Ben: It's about time he was put in his place. Madison: You certainly told him off girlfriend! Hayley: I certainly did. *smiles* At recess, Hayley tells Alexis about what she did to Todd in Science. Alexis: If only I was there to see the smug look on that a***hole's face! Hayley: How do you know Todd so well? Alexis: We both went to Pittwater High and he used to bully a lot of the special needs kids. One day, I got so fed up with him that I just walked over to him and punched him in the face. I just hope he leaves you alone now. Hayley: Same. *Madison approaches them* Madison: I just spread the word about Todd. Hayley: You little gossip! *laughs* Madison: He won't be bullying anyone for a while I can assure you. Alexis: Amen! That afternoon, Alison goes straight to the hospital when she has finished TAFE. Alison: How is he Jen? Jenny: Just about the same. I haven't been this upset since Nan died. Alison: Some memories are painful. But at least we have each other. Jenny: You're right. *gives Alison a hug* *Brock slowly opens his eyes.* Brock: Je...Je....Jenny. Jenny: Brock? Oh my god you've waken up! *hugs him* Brock: I....lo...lo....love you. Jenny: I love you too future husband. *As Jenny talks to Brock, Heather Roy (Brock's ex-girlfriend who cheated on him) walks into his hospital room* Heather: What the hell are you doing in my boyfriend's hospital room? Alison: Who the hell are you? Heather: I'm Heather Roy. Brock's girlfriend. And you are? Alison: Alison Patterson. Heather: Why are you with my boyfriend? Jenny: For your information Heather.   5. Episode 23 - Revelations Riggot, Leon and Alex arrive home from Wollongong at exactly 3 o'clock (when school gets dismissed). Riggot: That was a close one. Leon: We’re just lucky we made it home on time. Alex: I know. But what are we going to do if our parents get unexplained absentee letters? Riggot: Leave it to me. I’ll get Alison to forge their signatures. But you guys have to promise me something. Alex: What? Riggot: That we never truant school again. Leon: Okay. We promise. Don’t we Alex? Alex: Yeah of course bro. Riggot: Good. I’ll see you guys tomorrow. *The boys then walk home in separate directions* Meanwhile at Harleys, Sylvia is trying to apply for some part-time work at the popular diner. Amy is with her. Sylvia: I hope I get the job Amy. I really need the money. Amy: What are you going to use the money for? Sylvia: I might buy a plane ticket to Houston and visit Wayne. *Sylvia leaves her a copy of her resume in a box that says ‘job application forms’* Sylvia: Wish me luck! Amy: I hereby wish Sylvia Jackson luck on getting a job at Harleys! *Both Sylvia and Amy then laugh* That evening, Alison and Jenny decide to visit Brock at Westmead Hospital. Jenny: I just hope he wakes up Alison. Alison: He will Jen. *A nurse approaches them* Nurse: May I help you girls? Jenny: I’m here to see my fiancé Brock Anderson. Nurse: Room 12. Jenny: Thanks. *Alison and Jenny find Room 12 rather quickly and go inside. Brock is laying on the bed in a comatose state. His head is bandaged up and has cut and bruises to his face* Jenny: Oh my god Alison look at him! *starts to cry* Alison: *hugs Jenny* Shush. It’s going to be okay dear cousin. *After an hour, Jenny is sitting down holding Brock’s hand while Alison stands behind her* Jenny: Why don’t you go home and get some sleep Alison? You have TAFE tomorrow and I really don’t want you to miss it. Alison: Okay. Are you sure you want me to leave? Jenny: I’m sure. I just need to be alone with Brock. Alison: I understand. I’ll see you when you get home. *gives Jenny a hug* Jenny: Thank you for supporting me. Alison: Anything for my favourite cousin. *Alison leaves the room* Jenny: I love you Brock. *kisses his forehead through her sobs* At Melissa’s house, Nina is in the living room watching the late night movie on Channel Ten when Dina comes in. Dina: I want to talk to you. Nina: Go ahead. Dina: I'm really sorry for the way I have been acting towards you these past few days. Nina: I'm sorry I called you selfish and self-centered. I should've just let you have the abortion. Dina: I've decided not to go through with that. *Nina turns off the TV before facing Dina* Nina: Why? Dina: Because I really want to be a mother. This may be the only baby I'll ever have. I am doing really well and hope to see you again when you return. Lolly says that your going away will not effect your attendance record. You will still graduate with me and the girls. Nina: Hey Dina. *Dina doesn't answer her and instead slams the milk carton down onto the kitchen counter* Nina: Still not talking to me? *Dina places the milk carton back into the refrigerator before slamming the door shut* Nina: That's right. Keep slamming things around like a child. Dina: WHO ARE YOU CALLING A CHILD?!? Nina: YOU'RE ACTING EXACTLY LIKE ONE AT THE MOMENT! Dina: THAT'S BECAUSE MY OWN SISTER STOPPED FROM HAVING AN ABORTION! Alison: Hey Jen. *notices Jenny crying* Hey. What's wrong cousin? Jenny: It's Brock. He was involved in a serious car accident just now. He's in an induced coma. Alison: Oh my god Jen I'm so sorry. Jenny: They don't know how long he'll be able to get out of that coma. But I just hope it's before our wedding. Dina: Getting rid of my baby! That's what I am doing! Nina: YOU ARE NOT GETTING RID OF IT!!!!! Dina: SINCE WHEN DID YOU START MAKING DECISIONS FOR ME?!? IT'S MY BABY! IT'S MY DECISION! Nina: YOU'RE BEING TOTALLY SELFISH AND SELF-CENTERED JUST LIKE YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN! Dina: FINE! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO ME TO HAVE AN ABORTION THEN I WON'T!!! *storms out of the clinic* *The doctor looks at Nina* Nina: I'm sorry you had to hear us doctor. *leaves the clinic* That evening, Melissa has invited Alison over to dinner at her house. Melissa: Looking forward to TAFE tomorrow? Alison: Yes I am. I'll be helping Fiona and Justin again. Nina: What's this program that your doing? Alison: We help students that have learning difficulties or have a disability. Dina: That's really good. *to Melissa* Could you pass the butter please Mel? Nina: The butter is right in front of me. Dina: You know what? I'm really tired. I think I might go to bed. Good night. *Dina walks upstairs to her bedroom* Nina: I could kill her sometimes. Alison: Did you two have a fight? Nina: Yes. This afternoon I stopped Dina from having an abortion and we had a heated argument about. God she can be such an impetulant child sometimes! Melissa: She'll come around. Now Fiona, try writing "my name is Fiona" as quick as you can. *Fiona writes it down in her book as fast as she can. When she is finished, she hands the book over to Alison* Alison: Well done Fiona. Fiona: Thanks Alison. *gives Alison a hug* At Civic High School, Hayley is in Leon's class and has Maths with Mr Buttery. She is sitting with Madison Williams. Mr Buttery: We are learning about equations today. Turn to page 57 in your Maths textbook and write out the questions. *The class begins to write out the work.* Hayley: This is so easy. Madison: Yeah it is. We always get easy work in this class. *Mr Buttery walks over to Hayley and Madison* Mr Buttery: Less talking, more writing. Madison: Sorry sir. *as Mr Buttery walks back to his desk, Madison flips him the bird* During recess, Hayley goes to the back oval where she watches the boys play football. Catherine sits down with her. Catherine: Hi Hayley. Hayley: Hi Catherine. How was class? Catherine: It was good. We've got a new girl in our class. Hayley: You do? Catherine: Yes. Her name is Alexis Thorpe. Would you like to meet her? Hayley: Okay. Catherine: Hey Alexis! Come here! *A tall girl with long dark red hair comes over to Catherine and Hayley* Catherine: Alexis. This is Hayley Martin. Alexis: Hello Hayley. Hayley: Hi Alexis. *shakes Alexis' hand* Alexis: It's so nice to meet you. Hayley: I love the accent. And its nice to meet you as well. Where are you from? Alexis: England. I love this school so far. Made heaps of friends. What about you? Hayley: I've made heaps of friends as well. Alexis: Mind if I join you? Hayley: Sure. *Alexis then sits down with Hayley and Catherine before they all start talking at once* On their way home from TAFE, Alison and Kat talk about their day. Alison: I had so much fun with Fiona and Justin today. How were Naomi and Angela? Kat: They were good. Alison: I'm just glad that we're helping them Kat. It's a good deed. Kat: I think so too. *Alison opens her letterbox and sees a letter addressed to her* Alison: I wonder who it's from. *opens the letter* Look Kat. It's a letter from Rachael. To Alison, How are you? I hope that you are doing well. I'm having fun here in Samoa. Helping out around the house with Mum. How is everyone? Send my love to them. Jenny: What's wrong Alison? *puts her arm over Alison's shoulders* Alison: Take look and see for yourself. *hands her the note Rachael left the night before* *Jenny reads the note and gets upset* Jenny: I guess its best for Rachael at the moment. But I don't know how the other girls are going to take it. Alison: Not well I bet you. At her house, Melissa has just finished reading Rachael's note. Dina and Nina are in the kitchen with her. Melissa: I'll probably never see her again. *starts to cry* *Both Nina and Dina go over to Melissa and hug her* Nina: Don't worry Mel. She said she'll be back in a few months. Melissa: She's one of my good friends. Dina: I know honey. By the way, can I use the phone in your bedroom please? Melissa: Sure. *wipes away her tears* *Dina goes upstairs to Melissa's bedroom and dials the number for an abortion clinic* Dina: Hello? Yes, my name is Dina Caliente and I was wondering if I could make an appointment to have an abortion. Sometime this afternoon. 2 o’clock is fine. Thank you very much. Bye-bye. *hangs up the phone* A new family has moved into Leon's street; the Martin's. Leon goes over to their house which is two doors down from his house. *Leon rings the doorbell. A girl around about Leon's age answers the door.* Hayley: Hello. I suppose you are here to welcome our family to the neighbourhood. Leon: Yes I am. Leon Longbottom is the name. *goes to shake her hand* Hayley: Hayley Martin. *shakes Leon's hand* Mrs Martin: *from inside the house* Hayley! Who's at the door? Hayley: Some kid named Leon! He lives in our street! *Mrs Martin arrives at the front door* Mrs Martin: Hello dear. I'm Hayley's mother. Would you like to come inside? Leon: No thank you. You obviously have a lot of unpacking to do and I don't want to hassle you. Mrs Martin: Why don't you show Hayley around town? Hayley: I would like that. Leon: Okay. Let's go then Hayley. *Leon and Hayley start walking around town. When they get to Civic High School, Leon asks Hayley what year she is in* Hayley: I was meant to be in Year 9 this year. But I repeated Year 8 because I was absent a lot. Are the students here nice? Leon: Some of them are. Some of them aren't. And you see that building right there? *points to the TAFE City campus* That's where some of my older friends go. Hayley: You have friends older than you? Leon: Of course I do. Not strangers of course. Hayley: You calling me a stranger? *smiles* Leon: No of course not. *winks at her* *As they head back home, Leon and Hayley talk about what they do during the week* Leon: I play rugby league during the week. I take art classes every Wednesday afternoon. And I work out in the gym sometimes. Hayley: I do ballet every Thursday. That's pretty much it. Leon: It was nice meeting you and I will see you at school tomorrow. Listen I've got something to tell you. I'm pregnant. No it's not a joke. The night before I moved away, we were getting it on in your bedroom and I think you're the father of my baby. I don't even know WHY I bothered calling you Don! You just don't want to have any responsibilities! GOODBYE DON LOTHARIO!!!!! *slams the phone down* *Just then, Nina walks in with the groceries* Nina: Were you talking to Don Lothario just then? Dina: Uh......No. Nina: You're lying to me. I heard his name being mentioned. Dina: So what if I did. Nina: THAT MAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING YOU PREGNANT!!!! Dina: IF YOU MUST KNOW NINA I TOLD HIM!!!!! Nina: YOU WHAT?!? Dina: And he doesn't want to have anything to do with it. Happy now? Nina: Yeah I am as a matter of fact! *Dina storms upstairs and then slams her bedroom door shut* Nina: Dina! *races upstairs then knocks on Dina's bedroom door* Dina I'm sorry! Please open up. *Dina opens the door* Dina: Apology accepted. *Both sisters then embrace* The next day (Saturday), Alison and her friends decide to go over to Melissa's place and meet Dina and Nina. *Alison knocks on the door and is greeted by Melissa* Melissa: Come in girls. *greets them with hugs and kisses on the cheek* *Dina and Nina come downstairs and are very classy dressed* Melissa: Dina and Nina. I would like you to meet my friends *points in the direction where Alison and her friends are standing* Alison Patterson, Sylvia Jackson, Rachael Manase, Amy La Porte, Erin Kennedy and Kat Benson. Girls. These are my roommates Dina and Nina Caliente. Nina: Hi. Alison: It is so nice to meet you *kisses Nina on the cheek* Kat: How are you girls related? Dina: We're twin sisters. Erin: Interesting. Melissa: I've got lunch ready so let's go the backyard and dig in. Phoebe and the puppies are in the laundry if want to see them. *The girls go outside and have some lunch. When they have finished, they go back inside and decide to have a conversation.* Rachael: I'm sorry Melissa. But I have to go. Melissa: Why? Rachael: There's something I have to fix up at home. Melissa: Okay. I understand. *gives Rachael a hug* *Rachael then says her goodbyes before leaving the house* Alison: I hope she's going to be okay. Dina: She didn't seem like she wanted to be here. Sylvia: Her father died last week and she's not coping well at all. Dina: *gasps* I'm so sorry to hear that. Our mother died when we were 8 years-old. Amy: That must have sucked. Nina: And we only just lost our father last year. Erin: How old are you now? Nina: We'll be 22 in October. Alison: Why does it always happen to the young? Dina: Who knows. Melissa: Would anyone like to play Monopoly? Alison: Yes!!! *The girls then sit at the dining room table and play Monopoly* That evening, Seru meets Catherine at Harleys a diner where most of the local kids hang out after school. It's their first date. Seru: What do you want to have? Catherine: A veggie burger and fries. Seru: I'm having a cheeseburger and fries and a milkshake. You don't want a drink? Catherine: I'm right thanks. *holds Seru's hand and then kisses him* I love you. Seru: You do? Then I love you as well *kisses Catherine again* *Two Year 12 students from Civic High School Henrietta Nauer and Zerina Muratovic walk inside and see Seru and Catherine kissing* Henrietta: Hey kids! *Seru and Catherine turn around and see Henrietta and Zerina standing there* Catherine: Hello Henrietta. *kisses Henrietta's cheek* Zerina. *kisses Zerina's cheek* Zerina: Since when did you and Seru start going out? Seru: Since yesterday. Zerina: Well enjoy yourselves and I'll see the two of you at school on Monday. Henrietta: Have fun! *Henrietta and Zerina go over to a booth in the back row and they sit there* Catherine: Now where were we? *Catherine and Seru kiss each other again* After their date has finished, Seru and Catherine walk home. Seru: I should never have eaten that cheeseburger. *burps* Catherine: You're so funny Seru. That's what I love about you. *Seru gives Catherine a hug* Seru: I'll see you on Monday okay babe. Love you. Catherine: I love you too. *walks over to her house which is three blocks away from Seru's house* Later that evening, Rachael is at the airport talking to a woman at her desk. Woman: One way flight to Samoa? Rachael: Yes please. *Rachael goes to the departure gate and gets inside the plane* Pilot (on speaker): Good evening. This is your captain speaking. Flight 352 from Sydney to Samoa will be taking off shortly. *Rachael wipes away a tear as the plane starts flying into the night sky* Early the next morning, Alison wakes up and finds a note that was slided through the front door. She opens the letter and its from Rachael. To Alison and Jenny, I have decided to go to Samoa for a few months to try and clear my head. The door soon starts knocking and Melissa opens the door. Nina: Hi Melissa. Melissa: Oh, hi! You're a bit early aren't you? Dina: That doesn't matter does it? Melissa: Of course not. Come in. *Dina and Nina walk inside the house carrying boxes full of clothes and other personal items* Melissa: Now Dina. Your bedroom is upstairs on the first door to your left. Nina your bedroom is also upstairs but its on the second door to your right. I have to go to TAFE now. So make yourselves right at home. I should be home by 3:15. Nina: Okay. Study hard. Melissa: Bye girls. *walks out and closes the front door* *Dina and Nina go upstairs and decide to unpack their belongings* At her house, Alison has decided to take the day off from TAFE to comfort Rachael. *Alison comes from the kitchen with two cups of hot chocolate* Alison: I thought you would like some hot chocolate. Rachael: Thanks. *takes the cup hot chocolate* *Alison sits down on the couch with Rachael* Alison: Do you want to talk about it? Rachael: I just don't understand why people die Alison. Sometimes you don't have a choice but it can be a little heartbreaking too. Alison: I know. Especially if its someone who has been really close to you throughout your entire life. It was like that with our Nan. She was really close to us grandkids but then she died and me and Jenny were devastated. But we always think about the good times we spent with her. *Rachael starts to cry* Rachael: God I miss that man Alison. Alison: I know you do. We all do. *hugs Rachael* Meanwhile, Wayne and Gloria are heading back home to Texas and Sylvia is at the airport with her mother to bid them goodbye. Nina: I'll be back in half-an-hour. *walks out the front door before getting into her car and starting the engine* *Dina walks over to the kitchen and starts to call someone. Episode 17 - Mr Manase (Part 2) On Thursday at exactly ten o'clock, Alison and her friends head over to Mannings Funeral Home in Rozelle for Mr Manase's funeral. *Alison sits up the back row with Jenny, Brock, Melissa, Sylvia, Amy, Erin and Kat. Rachael is sitting in the front row with her mother and two aunties.* Alison: This is so sad. *tears begin to well up* Her poor family. Amy: I know Alison. *puts her arm on Alison's shoulder* Sylvia: At least we've got each other. *wiping away a tear* *A celebrant goes up on the stage to speak to the mourners* Celebrant: Dearly beloved. We are gathered here today to pay tribute to Sam Manase who tragically died from cancer earlier this week. Now let's remember Sam with a song from Nat King Cole. *Nat King Cole's Unforgettable plays in the silent room with some of the mourners wiping away their tears. When the song is finished, Rachael gets up onto the stage to give out her eulogy.* Rachael: I remember my father being a friendly, good-natured and respectful man. During his marriage with my mother, they had two children. My older sister Tina and myself. Our father was overjoyed when he found out that Tina was expecting a baby. Unfortunately, he won't be here to see her give birth to his first grandchild. *chokes back her tears* Dad. Every single person that is in this room today really cared about you. They all thought you were a nice man and you will be truly missed. Thank you. *Rachael starts to cry before her sister Tina takes her back to her seat* *The celebrant gets up on stage again* Celebrant: Before this funeral comes to a close, I would like to play our final song. You will also be given an opportunity to say goodbye to Sam before he is cremated. *A Samoan ballad starts to play as the mourners place yellow roses onto the tombstone before they start to leave* Alison: *places her rose on the tombstone* Goodbye. *wipes away her tears* After leaving the funeral home, Alison and her friends go back to Rachael's house for tea and biscuits. Alison: I hope Rachael is okay. Erin: So do I Alison. *Rachael walks over to Alison and the rest of the girls* Rachael: Thank you for coming. I don't know how I would've coped without my friends being there. *wipes away a tear* Alison: Don't mention it Rachael. *to the girls* How about a group hug? Kat: That sounds good. *Alison and her friends then group hug* That afternoon, Melissa is feeding Phoebe and her three puppies when there is a knock at the door. Melissa opens it to find two women standing there Melissa: Yes? Dina: Hello. My name is Dina Caliente and this is my twin sister Nina. *points to a woman with long red hair wearing a black halter top and pink cargo pants* Nina: Hi. We're here about the roommates position. Melissa: Please come in. *Dina (who has long blonde hair and wearing a short, low-necked black dress) and Nina go inside the house* Melissa: Okay. Just a few questions. Where did you live previously? Nina: We lived in Pleasantview until about last week. Melissa: Have you got any jobs? Dina: I work at a hairdressing salon in Drummoyne. Nina: And I work at Woolworths in Mount Druitt. Melissa: How would you describe yourselves? Dina: I'm shy, quiet and a bit mischievous. Nina: And I'm outgoing, loud and have a good sense of humour. Melissa: Why don't I give you a tour of the house? Dina: That would be great. After giving them a tour of the house, Melissa makes her final decision. Melissa: Some of the roommates I have interviewed this week were unbelievable. But the two of you were just simply amazing. Nina: Why thank you. Melissa: I've made my decision. The two of you can move in first thing tomorrow afternoon. Dina: Really? Melissa: Yes. Really. *smiles* Nina: We're really looking forward to living with you. I want my ad to say "Roommates wanted. Two bedrooms available and rent is $150 a week." Okay. So it's going to be in newspaper tomorrow morning? Okay. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Thanks. Bye. *hangs up the phone* Later that afternoon, Alison is at the park with Leon and Riggot playing with a football. Leon: Throw the ball to me Ali! Riggot: No throw it to me! *Alison throws the football in the air and both Leon and Riggot try and catch it. Riggot just manages to catch it first.* Alison: Good catch Riggot! *Leon high-fives Riggot* Riggot: Thanks Ali. Alison: That was a good game. Let's go and get some ice-cream. Leon: Oh boy! Ice-cream! *smiles* *Alison goes over to the ice-cream truck and buys three ice-creams. She hands over Leon and Riggot's ice-creams before taking hers* Leon: Thanks for spending time with us Alison. Alison: I'm just glad that you boys are friends again. Riggot: That was a stupid fight. I'm just glad I got my good friend back. Leon: Same here bro! *shakes Riggot's hand* Meanwhile at Sylvia's house, Sylvia and Wayne are reminiscing about old times. Sylvia: How did you meet Gloria anyway? Wayne: I met her when I was working at Kentucky Fried Chicken. We started going out two months later after we first met. Sylvia: Love at first sight eh? Wayne: After going out for a year, I proposed to her and we got married in July 1987. Sylvia: How old are Andrew and Lucy? Wayne: Andrew is 7 and Lucy is 5. Sylvia: I wish I had kids of my own one day. Wayne: You will sis. I'll be there in the delivery room with you. Sylvia: I love you big brother. *hugs Wayne* At Westmead Hospital, Rachael is having a private moment with her father. Rachael: Remember when I was 11 and you took me to Darwin. I really had a great time with you and Mum. I remember us climbing Ayers Rock and you getting kicked by a kangaroo. *laughs* You will always have a special place in my heart. *Suddenly, the hospital machine flatlines and Mr Manase stops breathing* Rachael: NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *collapses on the ground sobbing* *Hospital staff come into Mr Manase's room and tell Rachael the news she has been dreading to hear* Nurse: We've lost him Miss Manase. I'm so sorry. We did everything we could. Rachael: NOT MY DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *starts wailing* That evening, Alison and her friends are informed of Mr Manase's death. Alison: Poor Rachael. Jenny: I just wish there was something we could do for her. Sylvia: It's hard when its your parents. Melissa: When's the funeral going to be? Alison: Thursday morning at ten o'clock.   14. Episode 15 - Disabilites Early on Monday morning, Melissa wakes up to hear Phoebe wimpering in pain. Melissa: What's the matter my little angel? *goes over to pat Phoebe on the head* *Phoebe lets out a cry in pain as she pushes out a newborn puppy* Melissa: Oh my gosh! You're having puppies! I'd better call the vet! *carries Phoebe and her newborn puppy inside the house before ringing the vet* Hello? I'm sorry to be calling at 3:30 in the morning but my dog has given birth to a puppy and she might be expecting more. Okay. I'll see you in five minutes. Thank you. *hangs up the phone* Five minutes later, the veterinarian arrives at Melissa's house. Veterinarian: Where is the mother? Melissa: I placed her on the sofa. She's expecting another one now. *Both Melissa and the veterinarian watch as Phoebe gives birth to two more puppies* Veterinarian: Make sure that Phoebe gets lots of rest and eats correctly. As for the puppies, feed them some milk only. Melissa: I will do that. Thank you very much. *shows the veterinarian to the door* *Melissa then goes over to the three newborn puppies (two boys and one girl) and names them Spike, Buster and Molly* At TAFE later that morning, Alison is helping two students Justin Enwiya (a dyslexic) and Fiona Grey (who suffers from Asperger syndrome) as part of the new learning disability program. Kat Benson is also in the program. Alison: Justin. Why do you find reading so difficult? Justin: It's just that whenever I read a book I don't understand some of the words. Alison: I could help you read and write better. Would you like that? Justin: I would like that very much. Alison *turns to Fiona* Now Fiona. Why do you people pick on you because of how you write? Fiona: Because I'm a very slow writer and the kids at school used to call me 'slow snail' or 'retard'. Alison: I'm sorry to hear that. I will help you write faster. Fiona: You would do that for me? *Alison nods her head* Fiona: Thank you so much. Alison: You're welcome. When the first learning disability program session has ended, Alison and Kat talk about their experience with the students on their way to morning tea. Kat: The girls that I'm helping are really nice. Alison: Justin and Fiona seem like they're good people. Who are your girls? Kat: I have one who has ADHD; her name is Naomi. And I have one who talks with a lisp; her name is Angela. Alison: It's good that Lolly and Mrs Maddigan allowed us to help these students every Monday and Wednesday morning. Kat: I know. It's a great experience for them and for us. Want to have a cappuccino with me? Alison: Sure. Would you like to sit at my table? Kat: Of course. *Both Alison and Kat walk into the lunchroom* At Civic High School, Leon is sitting down on the grass looking at the students going about their business when Riggot joins him. Leon: I'm sorry for everything I said too bro. We never should've taken those tennis lessons. We were right to quit. Riggot: Yeah. Miss Rose was annoying anyway. But she did teach us one thing; not to be too competitive. *Riggot and Leon laugh* Leon: What do you say? Friends? Riggot: Friends till the end man! *They shake hands before they bump fists* That afternoon when TAFE has finished Alison, Jenny, Melissa and Sylvia see Mr Manase for the last time. Jenny: I never knew cancer could do that to you. Sylvia: It's so sad. Alison: I can't believe that he is going to die soon. I feel so bad for Rachael. Melissa: Me too Alison. *Rachael comes in with some coffee from the hospital cafe* Rachael: I thought you would like some coffee. Alison: Good Bobby. How's Frank? Bobby: Great. Alison: And what about you Carly? Carly: Great. Except I have to put up with Vicki Baxter. She's such a slag! Bobby: Speaking of Vicki. I see the slag now with the dog who refused to let me see the dress because she reckoned I couldn't afford it. *Alison sees Vicki Baxter is talking to Louise Clegg the snooby saleswoman at the local formal dress store and starts to walk over to them* Carly: I wouldn't go near them Alison. Alison: Why not? I only want to say hello. *walks over to them followed by Bobby and Carly* Vicki: Well, well, well! If it ain't slag head Simpson and her drug addict foster sister. Alison: You better watch what you say. Louise: Why? Because you're a slag. *Alison pushes Louise into the water* Alison: Oops! Sorry! Let's go! *Vicki runs off with a drenched Louise* Bobby: Derros! *Alison high-fives Carly and then Bobby before going back to the Year 12 students and finishing off their BBQ lunch* Shortly before Alison goes home, she decides to visit Narelle Smart in Yabbie Creek. Come in and have a cuppa. *Alison goes inside Narelle's house which is very girly-like* Narelle: *pours some coffee in to two teacups* What have you been doing with yourself? Alison: I'm at TAFE now and studying for my HSC. Narelle: That's beaute. I'm lucky I got my HSC at Yabbie Creek High. *After finishing her cup of coffee, Alison is on her way to the bus stop.* Narelle: Would you like me to give you a lift? The bus doesn't come until 4 o'clock. Alison: Sure. *Alison gets in the passenger's side of Narelle's pink Mini Cooper and they start driving back to the city* Meanwhile, Sylvia finds out that Wonderland is closed. So instead, she takes Andrew and Lucy to Luna Park. *After a few rides, Andrew starts to feel sick* Andrew: I think I'm going to throw up. Sylvia: Quick! In the bin! *races Andrew to the rubbish bin where he vomits* Lucy: I keep telling you that when you go on scary rides you get sick! Andrew: Maybe I should listen in future. Sylvia: Maybe you should. Are you all right now? Andrew: Yes. Can we go home now? Sylvia: Okay. *Sylvia holds Andrew and Lucy's hands before they leave Luna Park* At the football oval, Leon and Riggot continue to ignore each other. Ben: Come on guys. This is silly! Randall: Yeah. Mrs Patterson: Alison! *gives Alison a hug* Alison: Hello Mum. I'm not too late am I? Mrs Patterson: Not at all my girl. *helps Alison inside with one of her suitcases* *Alison walks inside and puts her suitcases in her old bedroom* Mrs Patterson: I'm so glad you could come and stay with us. The kids have been dying to see you. *Kim and Mav walk into the living room* Kim: Hi Alison. Alison: Hello Kimmy! *they hug* Mav: How are you my darling sister? Alison: Really well Mav. *kisses his cheek* *Mr Patterson soon walks in the front door* Mr Patterson: G'day Alison! *walks over to Alison and hugs her* I have missed you so much. Alison: I've missed you too Daddy. *The Patterson family soon start to talk all at once. Alison sits down on the sofa and starts to smile.* Back in the city, Jenny and Rachael comfort each other about people who they've lost in their life Jenny: When I was 13 years-old, my nan died of a heart attack. I really loved her. She always called me her favourite grand-daughter. *begins to cry* Rachael: *still crying* My grandparents all died before I was born. I didn't even know what death felt like until now. Jenny: I know darling. It hurts the most when you have loved them all your life. *wipes away a tear* I'm just worried Mum might be next. Rachael: Don't ever say that. At least we have our friends and you have Brock. *Jenny and Rachael hug each other while continuing to cry* When Kim and Mav have gone to bed, Alison talks to her parents about what she is doing with herself since moving to the city. Alison: I'm doing my Year 12 HSC at TAFE. I've made lots of new friends and I'm starting a program next week to help students with learning disabilities. Mrs Patterson: I'm really impressed Alison. You are starting to grow up into a respectful young lady. Alison: Well I wanted to change my life after what I did with Bobby Simpson's parentage and all. Mr Patterson: Tomorrow might be a good opportunity to go around and tell people that you are sorry. Alison: You're right Daddy. *kisses him on the cheek* I might go to bed. Good night. Mrs Patterson: Good night darling. The next morning, Alison goes around to practically every house in Summer Bay and leaves apology notes in their letterboxes. Kim accompanies her. Wayne: Nearly three years. Gloria's mother was getting sick so she wanted to move closer to home. Sylvia: Is she all right now? Gloria: She passed away last year. Sylvia: I'm so sorry to hear that. *holds Gloria's hand* Gloria: That's okay. Would you like to spend time with the kids? Sylvia: I would like that. Would you like me to take them to Wonderland? Gloria: Sure. Sylvia: Then its all settled. I will take Andrew and Lucy to Wonderland tomorrow afternoon. But what will you guys do? Wayne: We might bond with our mother. Sylvia: That's a good idea. At her house, Melissa has given some dog food to Phoebe. Melissa: Here you go my treasure. Let's go for a walk to the park and we might play frisbee. Okay? *Melissa places Phoebe in a dog leash, locks the front door and they start walking to the park* At noon, Leon and Riggot begin their first tennis lesson. Their tennis instructor is Emma Rose. Emma: Now. Basic skills in tennis include ready position, serve and volley grip, serving and serve return, hitting the ball forehand and backhand and moving around the court. Since there are eight of you in the class, you will compete in a tournament just for fun. I want you all to look at the sheet when I tape it onto the wall. *Emma tapes the tournament sheet on the wall. When Leon and Riggot look at it, they are shocked at what they see.* Crystal vs. James Kellie vs. Alexandra Leon vs. Riggot Greg vs. Shirley Leon: Looks like we're facing each other bro. On the final match point, both guys become so frustrated that they take it out on each other* Leon: Why don't you throw the ball properly? Riggot: Hey at least I'm not making myself look like an idiot by attempting to use the racket as a fan! Leon: You want to say that again bro? Riggot: I just did! *Both Leon and Riggot square up to each other. Emma eventually pulls them apart.* Emma: YOU ARE BOTH DISQUALIFIED!!!! HOW DARE YOU SHOW UNSPORTING BEHAVIOUR IN THIS CLASS!!! Sylvia: I'm really looking forward to meeting you. *Sylvia starts to tear up* I have always wanted to have a relationship with you. Would you like to come and visit Mum for a few days? I'm sure she can't wait to see you. You just call me back on my house number. It was nice to talk to you. Okay. Goodbye. *hangs up the phone* On Friday, Alison's class has a casual teacher because Lolly has taken the day off. Her friends decide to sneak into the art class. Melissa: This teacher is so boring! *frowns* Rachael: I know. Alison: I've got a great idea! Why don't we go ask Miss Glover if we can do some painting in her class? Sylvia: That sounds like a good idea. Alison: Lets go! *Alison, Melissa, Sylvia, Rachael and Amy leave their class after finishing their work and walk to Miss Glover's classroom. Alison knocks on the door.* Alison: *to herself* Come on. Come on. Let us in. *Miss Glover opens the door* Miss Glover: Hello. Why are you girls here? Amy: We asked the teacher if we could paint in your class because we finished all of our work.. Miss Glover: I don't see why not. You may come in. *Alison and her friends walk inside the classroom which is a split level and open plan.* Miss Glover: The painting class has been one of our more popular classes. This room is where you get to display your natural talent. *Alison and her friends sit with three other students and get some paint from the trolley and start drawing on seperate canvases* When class is dismissed, Alison says goodbye to Rachael and Amy and walks to the bus stop with Melissa and Sylvia Alison: As soon as I get home, I'm going to start packing. Melissa: That girl hasn't bothered me about the dog since I gave her what for. I intend to keep it. Sylvia: Good on you Mel! *Five minutes before the bus is due, Riggot and Leon arrive with Tyson and another friend Elijah Sa* Riggot: Sup girls! Alison: Hey guys! *Riggot and his friends kiss Alison and her friends on the cheek* Melissa: How was school? Leon: It was good. P.E. was great. We played rugby against Year 11 and 12 at lunchtime and we just beat them by two points. Alison: Never knew you could be so tough playing rugby league. Riggot: Do you want to come with me and Leon for our first tennis lesson tomorrow? Alison: I can't. I'm going to be going to spend the weekend my parents in Summer Bay. But I'll be back on Sunday afternoon. Tyson: What do your parents do? Alison: They own a dairy farm and my little brother and sister help out sometimes. Elijah: That sounds pretty crappy. Alison: It's actually really fun. But I hate squeezing milk out of the cow. Sylvia: I spoke to my long-lost brother last night. Melissa: Really? Sylvia: It was like I knew him all my life. *The bus soon pulls up. Alison and her friends soon get on it and start heading for home* At Westmead Hospital, Dr Michael Cleary is talking to Rachael in his office. Rachael: WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE CAN'T BREATHE?!? Dr Cleary: The cancer has filled his lungs up completely. The only way your father can breathe is through a tube. Rachael: I THOUGHT YOU SAID HE HAD THREE MONTHS LEFT!!!!! Dr Cleary: Miss Manase. I'm really sorry but he has only got a week or two left to live. Rachael: THIS IS NOT FAIR!!!!! *runs out of the room in tears* Meanwhile, Sylvia returns home to find her mother standing near the entrance of the living room Mrs Jackson: I'm glad you're here Sylvia. Sylvia: Why? Mrs Jackson: Because I want you to meet someone. *Mrs Jackson leads Sylvia into the living room. To Sylvia's surprise, Wayne is sitting on the couch with his wife Gloria and their two children Andrew and Lucy* Wayne: Hello Sylvia. Sylvia: I don't believe it! My brother! *runs over to Wayne and hugs him* Wayne: I'm so glad to meet you. Sylvia: I'm glad to meet you as well. *Sylvia then hugs Andrew and Lucy before kissing cheeks with Gloria. She then goes over and hugs Mrs Jackson* Alison has finished packing her clothes and personal items in to two suitcases. She is going to catch the 5 o'clock bus to Summer Bay. Jenny: Say hello to Uncle Tim and Aunty Helen for me won't you. Alison: I will Jen. *Just then the phone rings* Jenny: I'll get it. *races to the living room* Hello. Hi Rachael. Alison is just about to leave. Oh dear. I am so sorry to hear that love. Come over as soon as you can. All right. Bye. Alison: Was that Rachael? Jenny: Yes. *holds Alison's hand* She just found out that her father is going to die in two weeks. The cancer spread through to his lungs. Alison: Poor girl. Maybe I should postpone my visit. Jenny: You just go to Summer Bay and visit your family. I will look after her. Don't worry. *Alison heads to the bus stop with Jenny. Melissa: THE ANSWER IS NO!!!!!!! NOW GET OUT BEFORE I CALL THE POLICE!!!!! *The girl storms off and Melissa slams the front door shut* Melissa: Bloody bitch! *to her new dog* I think I will name you Phoebe. *hugs her new dog* At home, Sylvia has decided to go through her mother's photo albums for old times sake *Sylvia looks through the photo albums. She is almost finished looking at the photos when she sees a book with the name "Wayne" written on the front in black permanent texta.* Sylvia: I wonder who Wayne is. *looks through the album and is shocked to find that her mother is cuddling him in the hospital with a man that isn't her father!* *Just then, Mrs Jackson opens the front door* Mrs Jackson: Sylvia! Sylvia: I was about to ask you the same thing! Is this Wayne guy your son? And did you have an affair with Dad? Mrs Jackson: That's really none of your concern. Sylvia: I AM YOUR DAUGHTER!!!! Before you were born, I dated a man from the United States and I fell pregnant six months after we started dating. She goes downstairs to wait for Jenny. Jenny: Guess what Alison? I'm the happiest woman in the world! *shows Alison her engagement ring* Alison: He proposed?!? *Jenny nods her head* Alison: OH MY GOD!!! Congratulations dear cousin! *hugs Jenny* I'm so happy for you! Jenny: We have decided to get married in July. And it's only March now. Alison: I'm so happy for you Jenny! I really am! *gives Jenny a hug again* On her way to TAFE the next morning, Melissa notices a girl around 15-16 years-old kicking a dog. Girl: Take that ya ugly mutt! Melissa: HEY!!!! What the hell do you think you're doing? Girl: What does it look like? Melissa: You leave that poor dog alone! Why don't you leave the dog out the front entrance and tie him on a leash? Okay. Melissa: Fair enough. *goes outside to tie the dog* *Alison is sitting with Amy La Porte and Erin Kennedy. Sylvia is at home sick while Rachael is visiting her father at the hospital* Amy: How is Rachael? Alison: Just about the same. Erin: I just hope she's all right. Alison: She will be.   22. Episode 8 - Out with the Old and in with the New The next day, Alison visits Mr Manase at Westmead Hospital. Rachael is there with him. Mr Manase: Hello Alison. Alison: Hi Mr Manase. *grabs a vase and puts some flowers in it* I just thought I would come and give you some flowers. Mr Manase: Thank you. Rachael: How are you Alison? *they hug* Alison: I'm good. By the way who is going to look after him while we are at TAFE tomorrow? Rachael: Mum is going to. She's coming over tonight and I have to pick her up at the airport at 7:30. Alison: Have Melissa and Sylvia visited? Rachael: They came and saw him this morning. Alison: Do you want to grab something to eat? Rachael: Sure. *to Mr Manase* We'll be right back Dad. We're going to have something to eat. Do you want anything? Mr Manase: No thanks my little princess. *Alison and Rachael both leave the room* In the hospital cafe, Alison and Rachael talk about their families Rachael: Mum was the one that wanted to go to Samoa. She really didn't want to divorce Dad so they stayed legally married. Alison: My mother just found out yesterday that she's four months pregnant. Rachael: Congratulations. You now have another little brother or sister to play with. Alison: I'm going over to Summer Bay next weekend to spend time with the family. And I've got a lot of catching up to do. Rachael: I just hope Dad doesn't die soon enough. Alison: *holds Rachael's hand* I'll stand beside you all the way. Rachael: That's nice Alison. You really are a great friend. *gives Alison a hug* On Monday morning, Mr Armstrong the principal of Civic High School is dealing with the three bullies Chris Douglas (Bully 1), Scott Brewer (Bully 2) and Thomas Bell (Bully 3) Mr Armstrong: Your continuous bullying towards Ben Ling, Leon Longbottom, Riggot Varu and Alex Oloaga is totally unacceptable. Teachers have been telling me that not only do you threaten them on the playground but outside of school as well. Thomas: It's only a joke! Chris: Yeah. Mr Armstrong: I also got a call from a teacher at the TAFE City campus saying that three of her students had no alternative but to use violence to stop you from hassling these poor kids. Scott: *sarcastically* Boo hoo! Mr Armstrong: I am NOT in the mood for your sarcastic sense of humour Scott. I've absolutely had it with your bullying. I'm through of giving you chance after chance. You three are expelled! Chris: WHAT?!? Thomas: That's a load of bull! Mr Armstrong: I have already rung your parents to tell them about your expulsion. You are all a disgrace. Get out! *Chris, Thomas and Scott leave Mr Armstrong's office in shame* Meanwhile at TAFE, Lolly is welcoming four new students into her class Lolly: I would like you to give a warm welcome to Erin Kennedy, Tevita Usaia, Jordan Graham and Amy La Porte. Alison: They look like they're nice people. Nour: More bloody foreigners! God I hate Australia! Melissa: THEN RACK OFF AND GO BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY NOUR!!! *Nour returns to her work sulking while Alison has another flashback* *Flashback to when Alison meets Amanda Greenacre on the first day of Year 11* Amanda: Excuse me. Do you know where the gymnasium is? Alison: You're new are you? Amanda: Yes. Alison: Get lost. I don't talk to new people. Amanda: You know. You actually smell like a rotten fish. Alison: *glares at Amanda* What did you say? Amanda: I said you smell like a rotten fish! Alison: Words don't harm me you moron. Amanda: Why don't stop acting like such a bitch and actually get a life! Alison: How dare you speak to me like that! Amanda: Easy. *The bell rings.* Alison: You'll keep. I promise you that. *Alison leaves while Amanda glares at her* *End of flashback* Sylvia: Alison? Are you all right? Alison: I'm fine. Just thinking that's all. In the lunchroom at lunch, Amy and Erin sit with Alison and her friends. Amy: Could we sit here? Alison: Feel free. Erin: There is no way we are sitting with that woman who hates Australia. Melissa: Don't worry about Nour. She's got no friends that's why she's so bitter. Sylvia: She's pure arrogant that's her problem. Rachael: And a racist too! Alison: What do you think of Lolly our teacher? Erin: She is really lovely. Amy: I've got a good nickname for Nour. Alison: What? Amy: Drama Queen. Melissa: That's a good one. *Nour walks past them* Amy: Hey Drama Queen. Nour: You talking to me? Amy: You know their starting a class for racist people in Room 76. You should join that. *Nour gets really angry and storms off while the TAFE students laugh at her* Alison: Well done Amy. *both exchange a high five* When TAFE has finished for the day, Alison, Melissa and Sylvia walk to the bus stop and wait for their bus. Leon, Ben, Riggot and Alex wait for them Ben: Guess what? Alison: What? Ben: Those bullies are no longer going to our school. Sylvia: Why? Alex: Mr Armstrong expelled them for bullying us. Melissa: At least he saw some sense in the end. Leon: May I come over to your place Alison? I need to talk to you. Alison: Sure. Riggot: They got what they deserved. I just hope they get punished by their parents. *The bus soon pulls up and Alison and her friends get on it* When Alison gets home, she and Leon sit in the living room and talk Alison: What do you want to talk to me about? Leon: I feel like its my fault that Thomas, Chris and Scott got expelled. Alison: Why? Leon: Because on the day that they bashed Ben me and Riggot went over to Thomas and Chris and we start to attack them. We just wanted to show them what it was like to be beaten up. I should be the one to get expelled. Alison: Leon! You and Riggot do not deserve to get expelled. You just simply defended both Alex and Ben. Have you told Mr Armstrong? Leon: I did. And he says that we're not in any trouble. But I feel like I am in trouble. Alison: Well don't feel like that. Okay? Leon: Thanks Ali.   23. Episode 7 - Good News and Bad News Alison, Melissa, Sylvia and Rachael are in the living room talking about the phone call Alison received earlier Alison: Your dad is going to die? Rachael: *in tears* Yes. The doctor had to send us to the hospital to have something checked out. When we arrived at the hospital, the doctor scanned him and found out that his cancer has came back. But this time its terminal. *wipes away her tears with a tissue* Melissa: Oh honey. I'm so sorry to hear that. *hugs Rachael* Sylvia: How long has he got left? Rachael: Three months. *Alison, Sylvia and Melissa gasp* Rachael: I don't know how I am going to cope without Dad. Mum's already in Samoa and I miss her like crazy. Alison: Don't worry. We'll support you. Rachael: Thanks. The next morning (Saturday), Alison is having breakfast when Jenny walks in with a huge smile on her face Jenny: Good morning. Alison: Jennifer Peters! Did you do what I think you did? Jenny: Yes. Alison: Oh boy! Two dates and you and Brock have already done it? Jenny: We really love each other. It's instant romance. Alison: You'll never guess what I found out last night. Rachael Manase's father is going to die. *Jenny looks shocked* Alison: His cancer returned. Only got three months to live. Jenny: Poor Rachael. How is she coping? Alison: Not well. Not well at all. Jenny: Why don't you invite her over? Alison: I can't. She's going to see her cousins at Mount Druitt today. Melissa's going with her. So I might go over to Sylvia's house. Jenny: I have to do the groceries and then pick up my dress from the dry cleaners. Alison: Looks like we are in for a busy day today. Jenny: I guess so. *smiling* At 11 o'clock that morning, Alison goes over to Sylvia's house and rings the doorbell *Sylvia opens the door* Sylvia: Hey Alison. Alison: Hi Sylvia. *both girls kiss on the cheek* Sylvia: How's it going? Alison: Good. May I come in? Sylvia: Sure. *Both girls go into Sylvia's bedroom which is upstairs.* Alison: You've got a great view from up here. Sylvia: I know. Alison: *sees next-door's backyard* Who's backyard is that? You can see right through it. Sylvia: That's Riggot's house. And it looks like the siblings are going out to play now. *Five kids (Riggot included) are playing out in the backyard* Sylvia: Let's go visit them. Alison: Okay. *Alison and Sylvia walk over to the Riggot's house. Mr Varu answers the door.* Mr Varu: Hello Sylvia. Hello Alison. What brings you here? Alison: We just thought we'd come for a visit Mr Varu. Mr Varu: Come on in girls. *Alison and Sylvia go inside the house. Mrs Varu is in the kitchen making a cake.* Mr Varu: Darling. Alison and Sylvia are here. Mrs Varu: Hello girls. *kisses both girls on the cheek* I just made a cake. Would you like a slice? Alison: Maybe later. Mrs Varu: I'll just get the kids. *calls out* Kids!!! Alison and Sylvia are here!!! *Riggot and his four siblings (VJ, Mareta, Praise and Benji) enter the house* Riggot: Sup girls! *hugs both girls* Mareta: Hi. VJ: Sup! Benji: Yo! Praise: Hello. Alison: Who wants to play outside with me and Sylvia? Mareta: I do! I do! VJ: I would like do but I have to meet my friends at the train station in an hour. Alison: That's fine. We understand. *The Varu siblings, Alison and Sylvia then go and play outside* When Alison gets home, she decides to give her mother a phone call. Mrs Patterson picks up on the third ring. Alison: Hello Mum. Mrs Patterson: Hello Alison. How is it going in the city? Alison: I'm loving it. I've got a good life now and have made some new friends. How is it going at the farm? Mrs Patterson: It's going well. I've got some good news. Your father and I are expecting a baby. Alison: That's great! I'm so happy for you Mum. Mrs Patterson: I only just found out that I'm four months pregnant today. Alison: So how are Kim and Mav? Mrs Patterson: Mav is enjoying Year 7 but he is having difficulty in Maths. And Kim has made a new friend at school. Alison: The reason I called was because I wanted to ask you if I could come and spend next Friday and Saturday with you. Mrs Patterson: I would like that very much. Listen, I have to go now. I've got a customer waiting to buy some milk. Alison: Okay. See you next weekend. Bye Mum. I love you. Episode 6: Bullying On Friday morning, Alison is sitting with Melissa and Sylvia in the classroom when Nour comes in and attempts to sit next to them again Nour: May I sit here? *Melissa grabs the empty chair and holds it while she is talking to Sylvia and Alison* Melissa: When the man pulled up behind my mother he was like 'drive-like-a-lady' and she gave him the evils. *Alison and Sylvia laugh* Alison: That must have been funny. Nour: I would like to sit down please! Sylvia: *ignoring Nour* I'd have done the same thing as your mother Melissa. Nour: I WOULD LIKE TO SIT DOWN HERE! HAVE YOU ALL GONE BLOODY DEAF?!? Alison: God! Some people won't take no for an answer will they! Melissa: I know aye. *Nour moves to the third row and attempts to sit next to another student Kat Benson* Nour: Hi. I was wondering if we could talk. *Kat grabs her books and moves over to Alison's table* Kat: May I sit here please? Alison: Feel free. *Kat sits next to Melissa* Kat: Where's Rachael? Sylvia: She had to take her father to the doctor. She's worried he might be sick. Melissa: I hope he'll be all right. *Lolly enters the room* Lolly: Good morning class. Today we are going to start off by writing a three page English essay. Start writing! *Alison and the rest of the class start their work* After TAFE has finished, Alison and Melissa are walking to the bus stop when they see Ben Alison: Hi Ben. *Ben turns around to face Alison. He has been crying* Alison: What's the matter? *goes over to Ben and puts her arm around his shoulder* Ben: You know those bullies that were giving Leon and Riggot a hard time. Alison: Yes I do. Ben: They beat me up because I stopped them from hurting Alex. Melissa: You did the right thing mate. Those cowards shouldn't have bashed you. Alison: I think its about time I took out a leaf out of Bobby Simpson's book. Ben: Is he your boyfriend? Alison: Bobby is a girl. Her real name is Roberta. But everyone in Summer Bay calls her Bobby or Bobs. We always got into fights. *Flashback to when Bobby drags Alison into the sea after making a comment about Carly Morris Bobby: Is Carly is alchie or a druggie? Alison: DRUGGIE!!!!! *Bobby holds Alison's head into the water* Bobby: Try and get it right this time Patterson. Alchie or druggie? Alison: Alchie! Bobby: Louder! Alison: ALCHIE!!!! Bobby: Right! And if I hear you saying she's a junkie it will be never safe for you to go into the water again! *Back to present* Alison: So that's what our relationship was like. Ben: I'm glad I can depend on you Alison. Melissa: Are those bullies in your class? Ben: No. They're in Year 10. Melissa: Bloody morons! Why don't they pick on somebody their on size. *As they continue to talk, Bully 3 approaches Ben* Bully 3: Hey Ling-Ling! Enjoyed our little bashing. Ben: Rack off! *As Bully 3 goes to grab Ben by his shirt, Alison shoves him onto his backside* Alison: I told you to leave those boys alone! Bully 3: F*** you bitch! Alison: I beg your pardon? Bully 3: I said f*** you, with an F. Don't you know how to spell? Alison: I know what you meant! And you can just rack off before I break your ugly face. Bully 3: I'm SO scared! *As Bully 3 starts to walk away, Melissa sticks out her right foot and trips him* Bully 3: You bloody bitch! I could have broken my jaw the way I landed. Melissa: Not my problem jerk! *Bully 3 runs away just as Leon and Riggot arrive* Riggot: What was that about? Melissa: That jerk was giving Ben a hard time. So I tripped him over. Leon: That was excellent Mel. Melissa: Don't thank me. Alison did most of the work. Leon: What did you do to him Ali? Alison: Just threatened him. That's all. Ben: The other two still need to be sorted out. Riggot: Me and Leon will sort them out. Don't you worry about that man. *shakes Ben's hand* *The bus soon pulls up and Alison and her friends soon get on it to start going home* Later that afternoon, Bully 1 and Bully 2 are at a creek collecting rocks when Leon and Riggot approach them Leon: Hey losers! *Bully 1 and Bully 2 turn around and face Leon and Riggot* Bully 2: You talking to us Longy? Leon: Yeah I am. Bully 1: Maybe we'll just have to teach you a lesson. *goes over to Leon* Riggot: Cowards! Bully 2: Is that right shorty? *goes over to Riggot* Riggot: That's right! *punches Bully 2 in the face* *Bully 1 attempts to attack Riggot but is tackled by Leon* Leon: This one is for Ben! *punches Bully 1 in the gut* Riggot: And for Alex! *punches Bully 2 in the face again* *Leon and Riggot continue to beat up the bullies for a few minutes before they decide to throw in the towel* Bully 1: YOU'LL BE SORRY YOU EVER MESSED WITH US!!!! *runs off with Bully 2* Leon: I don't think so you bunch of losers! Riggot: Great job man! Leon: Same to you bro! *both guys shake hands* Over at Jenny's house that night, Alison is ready to meet Brock Jenny: You'll get along like a house on fire. Alison: I hope we do too *There is a knock at the front door. Jenny opens it to find Brock standing there* Jenny: Hi. *kisses Brock* Brock: Hey. Are you ready to go out on our date? Jenny: Just a minute. There is someone I would like you to meet. *calls out* Alison!!!! *Alison comes out of the kitchen* Jenny: Alison. I would like you to meet Brock. Alison: Nice to meet you Brock *shakes Brock's hand* Brock: Same here. Jenny: Isn't he adorable? Brock: *blushing* Oh stop. Jenny: Right Alison. We'll be having dinner at Chez Pierre. I should be back by eleven. Don't wait up for me. Alison: Have a great time. *Brock and Jenny walk out the house to get ready on their date. Alison closes the door and gets ready to read a novel when the phone rings* Alison: Hello. Hey Rachael. What? Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that Rachael. Come over here as soon as possible. I'll call Melissa and Sylvia and tell them to come over. Stay strong Rachael. Alison: Look who's talking! Nour: Why don't you go shoot a kangaroo? Why don't you run over a wallaby? Alison: Why don't you rack off back to your own country if you hate it so much! Nour: DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO! Rachael: Just stop it Nour! I've had it with your racist comments! Nour: That's good coming from someone fresh off the boat! *Rachael looks hurt and starts to cry and runs out of the room just as Melissa and Sylvia walk in* Melissa: YOU MISERABLE TWO-FACED BITCH!!! Nour: WHO ARE YOU CALLING A BITCH?!? Alison: How dare you pick on Rachael like that. I should take off that turban you are wearing! Nour: Try it and I will have you arrested! Sylvia: You are racist bitch Nour! No wonder nobody likes you! *leaves the room to comfort Rachael.* Alison: Just keep your mouth shut from now on! GOT IT?!? *follows Sylvia* Rachael is wiping away her tears with a tissue when Sylvia and Alison approach her Alison: Hey. Don't worry about what that bitch says. She's got no friends. But you do. Rachael: She just makes me so angry. Sylvia: I wish we could teach her a lesson. But how? Alison: I've got it! We send her to coventry. Rachael: I like that. Alison: She'll be more of a social outcast than she is now. At lunch, Alison puts her plan to work. She sits at a table with Melissa, Sylvia and Rachael Alison: Here she comes. *Nour is over at the canteen trying to get some food but the kitchen staff ignore her* Nour: Excuse me! I would like some food please! I expect to be served! Melissa: I think the plan is working Alison. Rachael: Yeah. They're ignoring her like a rock. Nour: GIVE ME SOME FOOD PLEASE!!!! HOW DARE YOU IGNORE ME!!!! *other TAFE students just ignore her and carry on with eating their lunches or conversations* Nour: YOU WON'T GIVE ME ANY FOOD?!? *throws her tray on the ground* THEN I'LL JUST STARVE TO DEATH!!! *storms out of the lunchroom* *After a few minutes, the whole school including Alison and her friends laugh* After school, Alison meets up with Leon and Riggot at the school footy oval Alison: Hey guys. Leon: Watcha doing Ali? *gives Alison a hug* Alison: Not much. I just came to watch you and Riggot play NRL. Riggot: Sup Ali! *does a handshake that he does with his school mates* Come and meet our gang. *Riggot and Leon lead Alison to their group of friends Alex Oloaga, Randall Green, Seru Tamani and Ben Ling* Riggot: This is Alex, Ben, Randall and Seru. Guys meet Alison. Alex: Sup. Ben: Hello. Randall: Hey. Seru: Nice to meet you. Alison: Hey guys. Randall: Do you know how to play football? Alison: Of course I do. Alex: You want to play with us? Alison: No thanks. I'll just watch and do my homework. Seru: What year are you in? Alison: I go to TAFE. I'm studying for my HSC because I didn't get the marks I wanted to become a journalist or a hairdresser. Seru: I hope you do well. Alison: Thanks. *Alison watches the boys play football while she starts to do her homework* Back at home, Jenny decides to give Brock a call Jenny: Hello Brock. It's me Jenny. Brock (over the phone): Hi Jenny. I was just about to ring you. Jenny: Was you? Brock: Yes. I was just wondering if you would like to go out for dinner tonight. Jenny: I would like that. How about we go to that new French restaurant Chez Pierre? Brock: That's fine with me. I'll pick you up at 8 o'clock. Jenny: Good. See you then. *hangs up the phone* Back on the football oval, the boys are covered in grass and mud after their rugby game Leon: That was a great game guys. Alex: I know it was bro. Riggot: Man! I think I hurt my shoulder. Ben: How come? Riggot: Seru landed on top of me. Seru: Very funny Riggot! *gives him a friendly punch* Alison: I thought you all did very well. Randall: Thanks. Leon: We'll catch you later Ali. *hugs Alison* Alison: It was nice meeting you Alex, Seru, Ben and Randall. I hope to see you again soon. Alex: Bye honey. With Jenny gone out on her date with Brock, Alison decides to go to Pizza Hut with the girls Alison: I had the best time with the Year 8 boys from Civic High School. Leon and Riggot are like little brothers to me. Melissa: They are such lovely boys. *takes a bite of her cheeselovers pizza* Rachael: I just hope their parents approve of you being friends with them Alison. Alison: They do. I happen to get along with their families rather well. Sylvia: So do I. *drinks her bottle of Fanta* Alison: *holds out her bottle of Pepsi* I would like to propose a toast. May we all be friends forever. Alison, Melissa, Sylvia and Rachael: *clinking their bottles* Friends forever! At Chez Pierre, Jenny and Brock are talking about their parents Jenny: So Dad left Mum when I was 4 years-old. I haven't spoken to him in fifteen years I hate him so much. Brock: My mother is like fingernails on a chopping board. She is so annoying. I'm glad I don't live with her anymore. Jenny: What did you think of tonight? Brock: It was special. Jenny: I agree. *kisses Brock on the lips* Brock: *stunned* What are you doing? Jenny: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that. I feel really guilty. *Brock kisses Jenny back* Brock: I really enjoyed that. Would you like to go out with me?
