In some ways the Irene of today is similar to that of the early years showing at the moment. Although she has lost that comic element to her. In the later 90s and early 00s she was a little wiser and keen to become more educated. Less brash, more understanding. She had a nice development but it's all gone a bit skew-whiff.

I suppose my thinking is that if Bobby didn't leave there wouldnt have been an available adult full time character. I'm just assuming this. May not be true. Although Bobby was younger she did go from teenager to an older character with no in between as many seem too. She had already taken in tug and Sarah for a short time. So she was filling in that role. If she had stayed I'm sure it would of been her who identified with Selina and taken her in and so on.

I always thought she was brought back as full time to replace Bobby. It was pretty soon after Bobby died and she ended up in beach house and diner

I'm not sure about the 95 eps because I haven't re watched the, but in 94 jack seems to get on very well with Ailsa. He seemed to have many scenes with just the two. Her giving advice or him having a bit of a laugh.

Some parts of the building look similar to the original. Like those steps. There's a scene in 89 with Carly and Matt on steps that you didn't often see. Also although it was still the same building up until 96 the area with the road where Carly and Bobby cut the breaks of lances car seemed to not appear after 91. Around the same time they change in interior area of the school. Does that make sense?

Um, Damian was in no way nutty You might be thinking about Joey who Irene looked after? He had a mental illness that was played out and written very well without sensationalising the issue. So I don't think that would have been appropriate. I think Irene was at her best during this era. I loved how she supported Joey through it, despite not really understanding what was wrong and also being terrified at what could happen at times. She showed what a strong and loyal woman she really is.

Because the show has no interested in continuity and making the characters feel like real people.
