Light of the Bay

Yeah she is a great actress. Right now I PERSONALLY think she isn't being given enough material. However with it being the 25th anniversary this year anything could happen. I'm going to wait and see!

So we're now into week 6 of the 2013 season and Irene has done just about NOTHING. I was intrigued when she was one of the first residents of Summer Bay to meet Spencer and I thought we'd maybe see them develop a bond but it appears not. However I'm not going to be negative as Lynne mentioned a couple of months ago that we'd (hopefully) see Irene do more this year and possibly have some of her family return. She even told me herself that Irene would definitely do more in 2013 so I'm going to have hope. I also mentioned to her on twitter about 7 months ago that Irene would be celebrating 20 years in Summer Bay in 2013 and I put forward some suggestions to her which she kindly said she would pass on to TPTB.

I'd really love to see the bedrooms in SBH again. It really is a shame that little things like that don't seem to matter to TPTB - to me it feels like a part of the show is missing. I actually asked Louise Bowes last week on twitter if we're ever getting a SBH replica built (like we were promised in 2010) but she said it wasn't her call: which to be fair it's not ( I would've asked Lucy Addario but she never really replies to anyone).

Ah right - gosh was it that long ago? I guess not but I also meant that it'd be nice to have some scenes where we see characters on the phone and chatting - I just think it adds something.

This question may seem a little silly and particular but does anyone know when people stopped using the phone in the Beach House? (it was connected to the wall.) In the 90's and 00's Irene used to use the phone a lot to chat to other residents of the Bay but I've noticed that she hasn't used it in years!! I guess it's a sign of how badly the community links in the Bay have deteriorated. Little things like that phone can add a lot to a show IMO - another example is the burger phone in the Diner that's no longer around. Anyway, I'm veering off the question I asked... Does anyone know roughly when the phone wasn't used anymore?

Yeah it was written really well. It was a really touching storyline too as Alf was so desperate to hold onto Ailsa and not let her go a second time.

Yes! It's episode 3420 and its on YT. There are also other episodes available on YT of this storyline. They run between ep 3420-3446

Can anyone tell me how long Judy Nunn was absent from H&A in 2000? I think she was gone from episode 2840? Did she return shortly before the 2000 finale? Her temporary replacement was pretty awful at playing Ailsa!

I hope we see Fisher again as his last stint was so messy. It'd be like his character ended on a bad note if he never returns again.

Does anyone know how I can view the daily ratings of H&A episodes being shown in Australia?

I know - I'm sure I've said enough when it comes to the older characters but I just want them to have some sort of prominence. Irene may have a good storyline this year but we've heard nothing about Marilyn or Alf. They are great characters who are played by magnificent actors!

^ I agree. She hasn't developed a a character and she has no strong personality. She's yet another forgettable character..

I'd be surprised if anyone has heard anything about this but does anyone know if Bevan Lee will have any input whatsoever in the 25th anniversary celebrations? I guess he will if he's the Network Script Executive.

I know - I just don't understand how the writers think! It's like they just put all their efforts into writing plots for the younger cast (Braxtons) and the older cast are just extras who get a few scenes each week. I want to see Irene, Marilyn, Alf and Leah all be developed this year and have engaging storylines. TPTB really need to buck up their ideas and realise that WE like the older cast too!

I have to say I'm really disappointed in the way Marilyn's being used - she has no purpose and just floats about. I was just watching some 90's episodes and Marilyn was always around talking to people, getting tongue-tied and having stories of her own. It's such a waste of a character and the writers are completely to blame. Why don't they understand these iconic and interesting characters? It seems as though they have no idea what to do with them so just have them floating around being supporting characters in other characetrs storylines while they put all their efforts into writing for bland characters that won't be remembered in 10 years time. It's such a shame - I just want to see my favourite characters have engaing stories and be develeoped naturally. I've been told by members that they are sick of my opinions but I just can't bear seeing it happen. I hope the writers see this and maybe take some action. It does look like (hopefully) that things might be changing this year but with Lucy Addario at the helm I somewhat doubt it. I just don't understand how there was a perfect balance from 1988-2004 and then it started to go horribly wrong in 2005. I see, thanks . I just assumed she was the new Executive Producer as she did a DS interview a few months back talking about how there would be more scenes at Summer Bay High in 2013.

Does anyone know if Julie McGauran is the EP of Home and Away or is it still John Holmes? I'm totally confused as last year he was still credited when he was supposed to have left to team up with Bevan Lee?!

I completely forgot about Mairlyn/Fisher. It would be lovely to see them onscreen together again - they had such a natural chemistry. I think they still have a lot of issues to work through and I hope we see them resolved one day. I'm pretty sure they've asked him though (probably when Maz returned in 2010.)

I'm not sure at all. I'm just making an assumption. I just thought that after his 2007 stint (where the writers destroyed the character) he may have been a little offended and decided not to return again. He's actually 76 so yeah I'm sure at his age he may not be up to working anymore. It'd be nice if he came back though but I just don't see him fitting in now.

Does anyone think there is any chance of Fisher returning to H&A this year for the 25th anniversary? I don't want to sound negative but I get the feeling that Norman doesn't agree with how H&A is run these days. I mean, can you really imagine Don Fisher fitting into the show now? I think it would be disastrous - he just wouldn't fit in. I really think it'll be a shame if TPTB don't have a massive storyline lined up to celebrate 25 years. Bevan Lee did for the 20th...

Does anyone know what month Bevan Lee became Script Producer in 2004? And the episode number where he was first credited . Also, what was Coral Drouyn's last credited episode as SP?

The actor that played Chris was truly awful. If the character were to return then I'd hope a different actor would play him.

The episodes are still there! However you can't see them on the official YouTube webiste. I was watching them the other day. I think the storyline started maybe around 3417? Anyway, they are out there

Does anyone know if there are still family photos hanging on the wall or sitting on the mantlepiece in Summer Bay House? I have a feeling they were removed but I could well be wrong.

What I mean is was Axle Whitehead's interpretation 1 minute in length or was it shorter?
