I think initially, the viewers were supposed to hate Fisher, but when we started to see more of his backstory, his character was easier to understand and a lot of people started to like him. I've just started the 1989 episodes now. I love the fact that Fisher and Bobby have now become quite nice towards each other after Bobby's HSC success.

I just finished watching all of the 1988 episodes on YouTube. I've been doing a marathon of episodes lately and frankly I must say, the show is very enjoyable to watch. Here's my review: How did I find Home and Away in 1988? Brilliant, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a relatively slow start, but after Roo fell pregnant to Martha, the show became very exciting and we never looked back. I'd give it 9 out of 10. Who are my favourite characters on the show in 1988? In no particular order: Martin Dibble, Lance Smart, Bobby Simpson, Alf Stewart, Pippa Fletcher, Steven Matheson, Alisa Stewart, Donald Fisher and Floss McPhee Who are my most hated characters on the show in 1988? In no particular order: Lynn Davenport and Frank Morgan. What was my favourite storyline? The Summer Bay Nutter's reign of terror and the mystery of who the person was. What was the saddest storyline? Alan Fisher's death What was the worst storyline? Alf and Alisa's unnecessary break-up after Alf brought up her past and she ran off to the city to be with her old friend. What did I think of Lynn's departure? While it came around very quickly, I think it was appropriate as Lynn was too old to have storylines with Sally, but she was too young to have storylines with the likes of Carly, Bobby and Roo. Personally, I have never liked her character as she came across as whiny with the way she went about things such as the way she blamed Tom and Pippa for her dog's death after the 'Nutter' poisoned it. Who were the best guest characters in 1988? Barbara Stewart, Morag Bellingham, Colleen Smart, Alan Fisher, Phillip Matheson, Stacy Macklin and Narelle Smart. Who were the best villains in 1988? Gary Samuels, Sam Barlow, The Summer Bay Nutter (Walter Bertram) What are you most looking forward to in 1989? 1). Dodge's arrival and his whole reign in Summer Bay. 2). Bobby finding out about her parents. 3). The arrival of Marilyn.

I remember seeing Irene's phone used in 2008 when Geoff was in contact with Melody Jones. As Ryan said, it's most likely that the phone has been removed due to Irene's renovation of her house.

I agree with you and I think the Angie Russell storyline that was continuing as this storyline occurred was brilliant as well. It was one of the primary reasons as to why the ratings increased dramatically after a decline around 2001.
-
According to the spoilers she'll be leaving in about two weeks. I don't think she's back permanently.

Hi LaMurray, there are two main sources to view the ratings of the current H&A episodes. http://www.mediaspy.org/forum/index.php?/forum/144-television-ratings/ http://www.tvtonight.com.au/category/ratings

Clubfeet Feat. Chela - Heartbreak. This might be the song you're thinking of.

I disagree. Year 11s consist of 16-17 year olds, and year 12's consist of 17-18 year olds.
-
Down the track it's possible, but I can't see it happening anytime soon to be honest. It wouldn't be realistic otherwise.

Hi Chris, This new-look forum is great and I'm really used to it now. I'm just wondering if you're any closer to sorting out the 'like button' issue?

Donald Fisher - Norman Coburn
Jezz replied to Light of the Bay's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
I thought Don split up with June as he mentioned it when he returned in 2007. He was on the verge of bankruptcy on his return, and he wanted to see Marilyn in London because she had breast cancer at around the same time during his return in 2007. -
I think it's down to the fact that he now realises that Brax, Heath and Casey are also victims of his father's neglect, and due to barely knowing his father, this distorted his judgement when he kidnapped Casey and took him out to the desert. Heath and Kyle seemed to have the closet connection together, as they were both stuck in the middle and they know what its like to be neglected by their father. Danny used to focus his attention on the threat Brax posed to him, and Casey because he was the youngest and most naive out of the all Braxton kids, and Danny tried to get to Brax by exploiting Casey's naivety.
-
Despite what people have said, I don't think he went back to 'desert Kyle', I think he just wanted to get to the truth as he's desperate for a relationship with his brothers, and he doesn't want anyone to infringe on that.

Well Sasha was born in 1996 and this year would make her 17 years old. Typically Year 11 students consist of 17 year olds, so maybe that's how they'll explain her repeating year 11. Her age last year would have suggested she would be doing Year 10, not Year 11.

Happy 9th Birthday to BTTB. This forum has been great and I've loved every minute of being on it. It's great to discuss Home and Away with other people who love the show just as much as you do.

Thanks for answering my question, Jezz. I remember I did freak out when I watched bits and parts of a few episodes when Ailsa returned as a ghost. I remember watching a episode when Alisa tells Alf some people like e.g. Sally (I think she was there) were talking about him. So creepy and that's why it did freak me out. I was just in my mid-teen years when I saw these episodes, lol. (I did remember seeing the episode when Ailsa appeared in the Diner as a ghost) Is it in the finale of 2002, right? Now I had just turned 27 years old a month ago, hahaha. Another question... Had been reading Ailsa Stewart's Wiki page...I noticed a vision of Ailsa had 'egged' Alf to injure Donald...? I can't find any video clips of it. Expect only I found one of him injuring Morag. No worries, but I think Beau T answered it better than I did. This storyline was actually a lot more complex than I anticipated. It was one of the best storylines along with the on-going Angie storyline in 2002-2003. I actually thought Alf would die from his brain tumour, but luckily he survived. Yes, Ailsa's ghost first appeared in the 2002 finale in the diner. Alf looked shocked, and I don't think the viewers knew how to react to it either. It was an excellent finale.

Yes, obviously Alf was having a brain tumour and "evil" Ailsa was egging him on to push her down the stairs. Alf didn't realise what he did after he had pushed her down the stairs. He was like 'Ailsa, what have you done?' The scene was quite weird as well because it was done in slow motion which may have represented Alf was hallucinating so it was hard to interpret as to whether Ailsa was egging him on or not, but the general consensus is she was and this motivated him to do what he did, without realising the consequences.

I swear Casey is Home and Away's "punching bag"

How do YOU personally divide up H&A's lifespan (1988-present)
Jezz replied to CaptainHulk's topic in The Bayside Diner
That's an awesome summary of the Home and Away lifespan. I loved the 2004-2008 era, The Classic Years, The Mid 90s, The Sutherlands and Hunters being introduced, and the current era is cool even though it's a bit over the top, but it's fun to watch. Charlie was the guy who bothered Kim and Dom was the one who tortured Ric at the garage. Correct! I loved those episodes. This was when Home and Away was peaking in my opinion. -
The promo looks interesting. It appears that you're correct about Gina.

Kirsty Sutherland Phillips - Christie Hayes
Jezz replied to Cal's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
Yes, Kane should have been convicted for the assault on Dani in 2001, but he was found 'not guilty' for that crime. I think Kane attempted to turn over a new leaf and start afresh around 2003 and 2004. I think by the end of 2004, he had finally become a respectable and well-liked person in the Summer Bay community. Pity his father turned his life upside down. -

Jezz replied to Cal's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
Agreed, I wish Kirsty stayed with Kane. I was looking forward to Kane and Kirsty returning in 2008, but it was a major letdown. It wasn't the same after they left in early 2005 to go on the run. I always felt sorry for Kane as he was innocent of the alleged crime he committed. -

How has Alf developed as a character during this season? He was underdeveloped in 2012 this year. He didn't have many storylines involving him unfortunately. What did you see are the strengths of Alf this year? Alf is still a family man and he acted as a support network to Roo, when her relationship with Harvey was on the rocks practically every week. What did you see are the weaknesses of Alf this year? His character lacked development and he was almost seen as an iconic extra and he wasn't on the forefront of the show. What has been your favourite storyline/s involving Alf this year? It wasn't really a storyline, but I loved his speech at the wedding reception of Harvey and Roo in the final week of the show. What has been your least favourite storyline/s involving Alf this year? None come to mind, due to his lack of storylines. What would you like to see happen with Alf in 2013 storyline wise? Please feel free to speculate, as it is most welcome but please remember that spoilers need to have spoiler tags placed around them. I'd love to see Duncan make a return to Summer Bay permanently, as he's been living in New York and he knows Roo well. Maybe Duncan has a secret that is so shocking, that it could spell the end for him and Alf having a strong relationship as father and son. In general, I would just like to see more storylines involving Alf next year, as he lacked many storylines in 2012.
