Donald Fisher - Norman Coburn
Jezz replied to Light of the Bay's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
I'm not sure whether Don was ever intended to be a main character as he was quite a nasty character at the start of the series but as time went on and certain events occurred like Carly's rape and then later Alan's death he mellowed out quite a lot and became a likeable character without necessarily losing that hard edge about him. Don was one of my favourites but he changed a lot after getting together with Marilyn. He was no longer the authoritative and nasty character he could be before he was with Marilyn. Personally I actually prefer Don in his earlier days just after he mellowed but I always appreciated the fact that the character was around for 15 years! It was a strange feeling initially when he was gone in 2003 but he made many guest appearance returns later that year, in 2004, 2005 and of course his thorough guest stint in 2007 which lasted about two months from memory. -

Thanks for the update Chris! We're all appreciative of your efforts to address this current issue that the forum is experiencing. Hopefully all will be fixed soon!

Brilliant - is she on Twitter? I think it was on instagram, she commented on one of Lynne McGranger's photos of the house. Correct Tina commented on a photo of the house that Lynne uploaded on Instagram.

Thanks for the update Dan!

It's improved slightly in contrast to Friday but still quite slow in comparison to the speeds that we were generating before this issue arose. Hoping everything is fine with the forum and this can be resolved.

Hey Dan, I've been watching some old eps and I was just wondering: do you know how many times Morag actually cries? I know of 1993, 2003, 2007(? - Martha put her well into place) and 2011 (After Ross' funeral). Are there any other? I might be wrong but did Morag breakdown in 1989 just before she left Summer Bay to go back to the city and Danny's reign of terror and vendetta against her was over.

Yes same here in regards to the last time I saw the online list as well.

Thank god it's not just me. I was worried that my laptop may have been malfunctioning again as it's had some problems recently which have been repaired now. Yes I can't see the online list either and I can't use the 'view new content' option as no new threads appear from your last visit on the site.

It might be my computer only but the forum seems slow lately. Is anyone else experiencing problems? I hope everything's fine if other people are also experiencing any slowness to the forum at the moment.

Cordial? I don't know as I've never really noticed to be honest.

Chris is a loveable larrikin. He can be silly and immature at times but deep down he has a good heart and admirable traits that most people would like seeing in any person. His friendship with Irene is terrific and works surprisingly well.

The Summer Bay House with the roof painted red looks superb but the current look is also great and I think most people appreciate the fact that exterior scenes are being shown again outside the Summer Bay House after so many years. It took me aback initially seeing Alf and Roo and then later Spencer, Chris and Oscar hanging outside the house but I liked it a lot and it reminded me of the old days. Looking forward to seeing more of the same!

I agree as after all Adam was close friends with Bobby for many years! Sadly though the law may not be on Adam's side as reckless driving (whether it was an accident or not) can constitute criminal liability if he's been found to be reckless in the first place and with a death involved it's a much more serious matter now.

That's hilarious! I love how Lincoln, Bonnie and Kyle just openly put the thumbs up towards the street view camera

It's the real life rebuilt house, not a replica created by the props department. Wow I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for correcting me! Nevertheless it looks fantastic!
-
Looks great! It won't ever beat the original Summer Bay House but great effort by the props department to replicate the original house.

I agree to an extent but again we're unsure of whether Greg and Don wanted a smaller turnout consisting of Bobby's family and closest friends. My impression was that Bobby was a very popular figure of the town so I do agree that the turnout of her funeral was rather small but again maybe Greg and Don requested a smaller turnout off-screen. That's just a guess though.

It was a rather interesting scene between Alf and Morag! Morag seemed genuine enough in my opinion and you could definitely see the regret and sadness she was experiencing as a result of Bobby's death. I know that Ailsa doesn't trust her but I do believe Morag has a good heart deep down despite her tough exterior she displays to everyone. The last scene with Don and Sam talking about how Bobby's spirit lives on through other living creatures like seagulls was great and I also remembered you had an avatar of that scene as well! It was a beautiful scene between two people young and old experiencing a loss of a loved one.

You're correct but it's no different to the way Martha use to refer to Morag as 'Aunty Morag' as well even though it was her great aunt instead but Morag said being referred to 'aunty' was better than being referred to as 'great aunt' as it made her feel older being called 'great aunt'. Maybe using the words 'uncle' or 'aunty' makes the character feel younger rather than referring to them by their actual relation to another person but that's just a guess on my behalf.

Very sad episodes but so memorable at the same time and it's been a privilege to watch these episodes featuring Bobby for five years now! You can see why she was such an iconic and popular character during the years of 1988 to 1993. RIP Bobby!

Wow, i remember Alf calling Morag his big sister, i must have remembered wrong then Maybe he was referring to Colleen however I don't remember that! After all Colleen did blurt out in hysterics that she was Alf and Morag's 'big sister' after it was revealed that they were half-siblings in 2008.

No one knows for certain. Cornelia may have retired or maybe she hasn't been asked by the producers or TPTB to reprise her role on the show since her last appearance. It's pure speculation at best.

Interesting interview. I certainly get the impression that Nicolle wanted a change after five extensive years portraying Bobby but I wonder how she feels about killing off the character after so many years? Great character and one of my all-time favourites!

I know the feeling Beau! The anticipation of it seems surreal almost especially looking back in hindsight at how a few things could have been different such as the boat not existing for example. At the time Bobby's death was extremely effective but in the long-term I'm not entirely sure it was a good move by the show but what's done is done now. At least Bobby cements herself as an icon of the Early Years!
