  2. What does everyone think of the latest scandal regarding him? Do you think Ch 7 might fire him? I hope not.
  3. I dont recall Dean ever claiming to be done with the River Boys. After all, We've seen lots of characters from thet group go straight while still talking to the boys. Heck, Dean maade his appearance when Ash called him for help. Thats what I love about this show. Bella made me wanna strangle her with how she was acting. She was acting like a petulant insensitive brat, Just like Colby does when someone oesnt go along with what HE wants. To be fair, I only thought that because I was under the impression that she was aware of Dean's trauma aand just didnt care. If she wasnt, it makes it more understandable. However, Im still annoyed with her because it makes no sense that they never had that talk, or that she's not even willing to listen to his side or consider his feelings in the situation. Plus, she should know by now how scarring prison life can be afterwards. I distinctly remember her talking to Nikau an he described how hard it was on Ari. Im even more annoyed because all signs indicate that instead of Bella respecting his ddecision, Dean's gonna be guilted into going anyway, which is already getting old with me. "Taking care" of Bella does not mean bending to her every wim. I doubt it was that way with Colby.
  4. When I said that, I meant Dean coming back when he believed he worked through his grief and was ready to come back. Also, I already responded to H&A Lover's comment so you should check that one out.
  5. Note: I watch episodes at Aus pace. Ari may not have outright demanded Dean to do it, but i remember it being presented in that soap operatic way where it basically presents Dean as the bad guy if he didnt go along with it. I definitely disagreed with his advice to "fake it" instead of giving himself enough time to legit get in the right headspace.
  6. I dont think its fair to make that assumption. People deal with grief in different ways. Sometimes people need some time to themselves and to vent. Plus, Ari going back for Dean was less about helping him and more about what Mac and Bella wanted. It was about them wanting him to come back and comfort Bella simply because of some narrow notion of family. Ari may have believed he was helping Dean at the same time, but that could easily be the result of a self serving perspective. You shouldnt assume that somebody's dealing with a situation the wrong way just cuz its not the "more noble" way you prefer they handle it. Sometimes you should let people deal with things the way they choose to deal with it. All Im saying is that I would have respected the writing more if Ari had simply checked on him, told him about Bella, encouraged him to use his phone and left him be. Dean could have had a mini arc and then he could have come back of his own volition.
  7. I meant stay at the farm until came back back on his own. As in when he decided for himself to come back, not when Ari or somebody else browbeat him into coming back. Ari may have meant well, but it smacks of the same toxic attitude I was talking about earlier. To me, it would have been better if Ari had just checked on Dean, let him know how Bella was and made sure he actually planned to come back at some point.
  8. Good point, but still Bella living at the farm sounded like a good idea. Why couldnt she have stayed there until Dean came back on his own. My main issue is everyone expecting Dean to just "suck it up" and focus ONLY on what Bella wants. Ever since I heard about post partum/natal depression and the.....tragic cases that resulted from it, Im pretty much against forcing/pressuring someone into a caretaking role they arent mentally/physically ready for, especially when theyre supposed to be the sole caretaker. Maybe calling her bratty was bit premature. What I meant was that she couldve been more understanding and sympathetic instead of acting like her need for a shoulder to cry on was more important. Plus, from what iVe read of their relationship, Colby has a habit of taking Dean's loyalty for granted. Or to be more frank, Dean sees Colby as a brother, while Colby sometimes sees Dean as an underling whose loyalty he's entitled to, which has lead to a lot of misery and losses for Dean. From what Im seeing now, it's gonna be the same with Dean and Bella, except Bella will have the other adults backing her up.
  9. Im gonna need context for the yelling and kicking out stuff. When did he do that to her and why. From what Im seeing of her now, Im not going to fault Dean for getting pushed to his breaking point. Though it does confirm my point that they never had that type of relationship and Colby being in jail shouldnt instantly change that.
  10. I agree that Bella shouldnt be alone, but I have to say. 1. She couldve easily stayed with Mac and Ari for a while until Dean came home. They definitely have a spare bedroom with Nikau gone. For all her talk about not wanting to be treated like a kid, she was awfully quick to act like an entitled bratty one instead of maybe understanding Dean's feeling to the situation. Which brings me to 2. From what I recall, when a situation has done a number on his emotional state, Dean has always left the bay to cool off somewhere. Bella shouldve known this by now and respected that he needed some space. 3. From what I know so far, Dean and Bella have never had the same kind of bond Colby and Willow have had with her. He always seemed to be the one who just called her out when she's acting like a petulant fool and not much else. Its naive to think theyre gonna be an instant family.
  11. Im with you about Tane. It was nice of him to take Dean home, but lecturing him was out of line, especially since hes literally in no position to be acting like he's more mature given the mess he got his family into cuz he couldnt get with his brothers GF. He wasnt exactly stalking Ziggy, he just keeps trying to talk to her, which was after Mac talked to him. Which brings me to my point about Mackenzie who, in my opinion, didnt really help Dean cuz I recall her encouraging him to try talking to Ziggy instead of telling him to make peace with the fact that she doesnt want to get back with him. The rest is just pointing out the obvious. Dean's pretty much lost all the people he considered family for years and he lost his son. People dont always do smart things during a breakdown and Deans entitled to one right now. Your point about him running into Ziggy again is the core issue. Colby didnt have to deal with seeing Chelsea everyday after she left him. Ziggy lives in the same town and works in the same area as him. In Deans mind, starting over with Ziggy is the only thing he thinks he can change.
  12. I get that the angst is getting old, but treating Dean and Bella like the bad guy is just a bit narrow minded. 1. From what I understand, Colby decided himself to kill Ross and he did it because he had zero faith that jail wouldve kept him away. If you two saw that arc, can you really say it would have been as simple as just turning him in? 2. As far as covering up for him: Have you ever seen a tv show or soap opera that involved a character killing their abusive anything and their friends either covering up for them or at least wanting to? If you were in their shoes, would you have been so cavalier about turning them in afterwards? At the end of the day, they chose Colby over Ross cuz he was family and Ross was a dark chapter that should have been closed for good.
  13. I think another reason for Nik being ticked off is because they more or less took off without letting him know what they were doing. I theorize that it probably triggered him and/or reminded of when they went off to the bank robbery. In his eyes, if their job had gone wrong, he would have been in the same position he was when he lost his dad.
  14. Im with H&Alover. I dont think he regrets taking the job itself just how badly its backfired on to the family. If there was a change its that he wont resort to crime for cheap thrills , like he sort of did in this case. To be more clear, he might stop resorting to crime for fun, but I doubt he wont resort to it for survival. After all, theyre still living in a house he paid for and it bailed them out again when Ari couldnt make rent. So ill doubt he'll treat this whole thing like a learning experience. And I dont think its fair to say he wasnt as hurt by his brother's death as Ari was. I think he was, but the main difference is that Ari was traumatized afterwards. And even then, hes still willing to do jobs now. I only point this out because I always get irked wwhen shows have a character go through something traumatic and try to pass it off as "learning a lesson". It can be condescending and ignorant to me.
  15. I sort of doubt that and I sort of dont want that to be the case. Firstly, if a failed bank robbery that cost him a brother couldnt make him drop crime, I doubt a job gone wrong is gonna do the trick. From what I know about the family, everything their dealing with now isnt anything they havent either dealt with before or expected to deal with. Also, if he does change after this, it might only be in terms of how frequently he resorts to dodgy means. From what I recall (and what I recall him stating) he took this job to appease his ego more or less. If its another case of not being able to pay rent, I doubt he'll refute. Secondly, I sort of dont wwant him to change like that for the same reason I prefer this show and Shortland street over shows like Neighbours. I like characters that have enough of an edge to them that they can have storylines that arent just overdramatized love stories and petty squabbles. I like characters that go their own way and arent likely to get pressured into being something else.
  16. 1. Hmm I must have missed that detail. My issue was more with the principle behind the call. Ryder seemed a bit.......naive in his belief. As a principle, I think its a bit narrow minded to call police with a belief that theyll be the white knight in a situation. Also, I doubt innocence would have mattered considering Colby was involved. If it haadnt been for Angelo breathing down his neck, he probaably would have tried to whip something up to keep them from leaving.......again.
  17. 1. What beating? From what I saw Tane and Ari were kicking their butts. Theres also the fact that its really naive to call the cops thinking theyre going to resolve a situation and arrest the right party, especially when one party is from the Paratas background. 2. Dean is depressed and desperate for something to live for. He lost Jai, he lost Ziggy and to him Colby is the only thing he can actually look out for. And in regards to Amber leaving, I disagree with the logic. She didnt have to leave to protect Jai. It was self serving that she tried to make everything Dean's fault. There wasnt a war between Dean and Francesca, it was just Dean wanting fair custody of Jai because SHE kept threatening to take him away every time Dean disagreed with her on something. She could have told her mom to either be civil with Dean or leave. She could have learned to compromise with Dean instead of forcing him into a one sided double standard. Instead she ran away so she could avoid a bad situation she didnt want to take responsibility for.
  18. I think her disgust was for the same reason she didnt like how he was harassing the Paratas. I have doubts about her love for Ross currently especially since I can recall times where she compred Colby to Ross sometimes. Also, why exactly did she keep threatening to report him?
  19. Thank You. Was it when she was still under Stockholm Syndrome and straight up hated Colby. I did read somewhere that she had gone through a phase like that.
  20. I think Dean and everyone involved understand the why of what Colby did and sympathize with him to a degree (at least a LOT more than they sympathize with Ross). Before I say anything on it, Id like to know when exactly Bella threatened to report Colby and Dean "guilt tripped" her.
  21. Ill need to know more details on certain things, but your claims seem like a bit of a stretch to me. Dean trying to talk him down seemed less about it being "the wrong thing" and more about A) Murdering someone being a bit extreme in general. Im not that familiar with the River Boys and their crime history, but they seem like the act of murder would be a bit much, even by their standards. B) Dean being mad at Colby for the fallout rather than the act itself. And when he said hed never forgive him, Im pretty sure he was referring to the long list of losses/traumas hes had to deal with as an indirect result of backing Colby up, which seemingly includes Jai now. (Note: I did see that part aas being a bit too bratty, but I already explained my view on it in an earlier comment) I dont remember hearing him defend Colby to Bella, and I only recall Willow and Dean plain explaining to Ziggy what happened. if they are defending Colby, it makes sense since she is judgin people over a situation she wasnt even a part of. (Note: And for all the talk about how they all deserve to go to jail, I havent really seen anyone comment on Angelo. I looked him up and he DEFINITELY shouldnt be on the force. At least with Colby and co, it can be argued that they were trying to protect themselves.) Throughout the arc I havent once heard any of them say anything along the line of "Ross didnt deserve to die" or "Colby didnt have to kill him", or anything about Colby being morally wrong for killing Ross himself. Just a lot of anguish for all the problems that have so far resulted for it, as well as Colby's antics.
  22. First, I was only going by the details shared with me. That said, as much as I dont like sympathising with Colby, Im just not going to condemn them for what they did. Especially since Ive never really had that type of parent or known anyone in that type of situation. And you have. point that convicting Ross wouldnt have been an issue, but could you say he couldnt have done anything from a prison cell. At the end of the day, theyre more or less family that was trying to help each other against a guy who was nothing but a menace to them they couldnt seem to get rid of aany other way. (Although Colby is debatable in this regard)
  23. I dont recall them being that blase about it. Im sure thats how they tried to explain it to Zig, but I dont think they tried to dismiss the fact that they did watch somebody get killed. Like I said earlier, they did struggle with it a bit afterwards. As for Dean dating Ziggy. I dont know exactly how it started, but judging by how soap operas work, they just developed feelings for each other, and dealt with a bunch of UST until they couldnt anymore. Plus, both points are understandable given that they seemed to have history with Ross. As unexpected as it was for them, as much as they werent okay with it, and as much as they struggled with it, they are perfectly aware of why Colby did what he did. Again, Ill point out that I missed that arc, but from what Ive been told, the guy was a monster, he was slippery, and he was so much of a threat that Colby really did believe that leaving him alive left everyone at risk. Their logic can be interpreted as simply not letting his ghost haunt them forever and keep them from living their lives.
  24. Im not judging her for being mad at Dean about it, I just dont like how she treats it like it was a simple case of "he should have just turned him in". Im still going on information shared by other memebrs here. 1. I agree that Dean didnt try to tackle the gun out of Colby's hands, but he did try to talk Colby out of it. The issue was that (and I cant believe this fact just got brushed over) Ross was a slippery psychopath. He abused his family, kidnapped and brainwashed his wife and daughter, killed the wife when she tried to run, and nearly killed Colby and the rest when they came for him. The more important point is that Ross managed to do this because he was apparently REALLY good at slipping away and messing with people from afar. Only reason Colby joined the force was because of this, and apparently that wasnt even enough. Colby killed him because he was under the convincing belief that if they tool him in he'd slip loose and come after them again. 2. Dean keeping it from Ziggy wasnt as simple as she believes. On top of the fact that they didnt want to involve her for her own safety, they just wanted to move on on and leave him in the past. Dean had nightmares, got hooked on drugs and struggled with the trauma afterwards for a while. It wasnt a matter of anyone trying to hurt her. 3. She really doesnt get to blame them for making her an accomplice when SHE was the one that kept demanding somebody tell her. Overall, to me, its not her being angry with him that irritates me, its the fact she's judging him and the others for a situation she hasnt even tried to get the full context of or tried to understand the position they were in at the time.
  25. I must have missed that explanation in the episode. Also, another nugget of history I missed. Even though the crimes are different. She still found herself in an illegal situation where she could/should have just gone to the cops, but instead chose to cover it up out of loyalty to a friend. The thing that irks me about her judgement of Dean was how black and white she tries to make it.
