  1. Shame. I think Matt really did like Carly with all her faults. I think she was always look for something better than Matt but he was always the default guy she went back to because he cared about her so much and she knew it. I'm surprised the writers didn't pair Carly and Brett together, that is the type of guy she wanted. Thank you for the examples. I think the type of character Carly has, she needed a guy to "dominate" her that is why she was able to treat Matt badly because he wasn't that guy. In some way, it also feels like Carly "settled" Was Carly upset when Mr Foley stated dating Stacey Macklin?
  2. Allison had some great moments in Home and Away ?? I agree, she should've been a regular. Would love to see her back at some point.
  3. I really enjoyed Nev and Floss, it's a shame the programming took a different direction and excluded them. Floss really cared about the Fletcher family and had a beautiful relationship with each of them.
  4. I don't think I Can ever be convinced that Frank stopped loving loving Bobby and I don't believe she stopped loving him either. Would've been interesting to see how the dynamics were in Frank and Roo's marriage, was Roo insecure about Bobby the way Bobby still felt insecure about Roo when Frank returned? I just wish the producers gave these two a second and happy chance.
  5. I can respect that Nicolle wanted to leave and be "normal" again for a while and with her popularity, I'm sure the producers would've been ok with her being written out to return. However I have said many times that I feel this was definitely a case of life imitating art. I don't think I Can ever be convinced that Bobby stopped loving Frank and I don't believe he stopped loving her either.
  6. Do you have examples of this? In a way, maybe that is what her character needed. Look at her relationship with Gary Samuels. I agree with @KKB I was hoping to hear that Carly ended up with Matt. How did they end? She should have never been given that happy ever after story I was thinking this the other day, If anything, I expected her character to be killed off or at the very least, left Summer Bay in shame after another selfish act backfired and left her in a mess. Sharyn Hodgson is a really good actress, she really captured all the emotions of Carly. I wouldn't have minded Carly having a happy ever after but years down the road, not so soon, it stunted her character. Like you said maybe Sharyn wanted to leave.
  7. Maybe she wanted to move on and having the option in the background made it harder to make a clean break. Clean break only to return shortly after? It's just odd to me but oh well. If their time has been negative, having their character die is great because then they can't come back. Even though the character is not dead, I think this is the reason why Justine Clarke didn't reprise her role as Roo. I don't know the reasons she gave for leaving but I'm inclined to believe that even with the different direction her character took, the backlash of her earlier storyline still haunted her. Alex and Nicolle have both said the magnitude of their fame at a young age really affected them, one of the reasons Alex left so I can respect that Nicolle wanted to leave and be "normal" again for a while and with her popularity, I'm sure the producers would've been ok with her being written out to return. However I have said many times that I feel this was definitely a case of life imitating art.
  8. That is my point. She could've left with Frank and still had that door open to return for short stints. I'll never understand why she wanted the door permanently closed.
  9. Above I said I respect her decision but I will never understand it...considering she came back to play a ghost.
  10. If I recall correctly, when Frank returned, Ailsa mentioned something about him not wasting his qualifications, so I assume he must've taken classes in something while he was away. Another inconsistency, Ailsa said to Frank that she watched Bobby struggle for 3 years to pick up pieces when he left....Frank left in 1989, returned in 1991..not 3 years ?
  11. I think he treated Steven that way because of his own securities which were often very clear. Frank admitted several times that he wasn't academically gifted. I don't think he looked down on Lance and Martin, I thought he saw them as friends but just gave them a hard time. Also didn't like the way he made Bobby feel guilty for wanting to go to uni eventually making her give it up , I think Bobby would've stayed anyway, she was just trying to prove a point to him. I do accept Frank was being a bit selfish but he faced his old fears to prove how much he loved Bobby. In one of the episodes when Frank and Bobby were going through a tough time, he said to Roo that he and Bobby didn't agree on things like how he and Roo did. However, Roo only agreed with what he said so he wouldn't leave her when she was scamming him.
  12. I don't know about Roo but according to the Bobby Simpson story and Nicolle herself, Frank id the man of Bobby's dreams. I think the problem with the Frank character is he never had a "just Frank" storyline. His storylines were either with Roo or Bobby. Maybe if he had stayed longer, the writers would've had an opportunity to develop his character. Have you watched Five moments of Infidelity? It's a short movie (1hr 10 mins or so) and Alex is one of the main stars. This role reminds me a lot of a grown up Frank. he was hopeless at relationships... I think this is mostly due to his background and upbringing, I don't think it was intentional. In my opinion he was a young man trying to figure things out and in the process was thinking with the wrong body part (Roo). Alex said his relationship with Bobby was more genuine than his relationship with Roo and I mentioned that several times before I even saw the quote.
  13. Yes yes yes yes and yes. I don't know why Nicolle wanted to be killed off, Her decision but I don't think I will ever understand why she left...but returned to be a ghost? She could've left Summer Bay with Frank, leaving the door open. I think Nicolle could've gone on to have a really great career as a working actress, I respect her decision to leave however I can't help but get the feeling that life imitated art where she gave up her acting career to be with her Husband aka Bobby giving up going to Uni to be with Frank. Happy ending would've been her back with the man of her dreams enjoying life
  14. Awesome @Homeandawayfan.! Thanks. Hopefully I won't be talking to myself in this thread ? Why was Frank obnoxious? I think he was one of this most misunderstood characters. Has anybody over 18 watched Alex in Five Moments of Infidelity? It's like watching a grown up version of Frank.
  15. I think the writers were struggling to find a love interest for Bobby that made sense Does anybody recall when rumours began circulating that Frank would be returning? Greg Greg Greg... An opportunist who showed his true colors by leaving his child when Bobby died. I never believed he truly loved Bobby, it was just a convenient situation for him. I think Bobby grew to eventually love Greg as part of the package deal because 1- she replaced her feelings for Frank with the baby she lost and Sam 2- she settled. I believe she would've left Greg for Frank if Ailsa or Pippa gave her that extra push. She was willing to,leave Summer Bay and travel with a guy she only knew for a few weeks who had a mental illness. recently found Ross Newton on Twitter https://mobile.twitter.com/rossnewton6?lang=en
  16. I agree. I just never liked Roo and Frank together...at all. I think Roo suited Brett Macklin or the guy who was engaged to Stacey. Would've been nice to see Roo and Brett back together again but he was falling in love with Bobby. For some reason I Never realised this in the 80's I don't think anybody else likes him, I might end up talking to myself ?
  17. Ive seen maybe 3 new episodes with her since she returned and I saw the same same manipulative woman she was late 1988. I find Georgie Parker to be very quirky and Flighty as Roo. I do recall Roo being like that when she was first introduced and a little bit when she got the job at Macklins so I assume the writers want to continue on that path. However, I'm not convinced that Georgie is the best actress for this role. Something doesn't fit, just like Debra Lawrence as Pippa... By the way, why isn't there a character/actor discussion about Frank/Alex?
  18. I haven't seen Georgie Parker act in other shows but I assume she is a good actress because she is pretty much a staple in at the Logies but I'm sorry, the few episodes I've seen, she does not play Roo well at all.
  19. Hey, I don't have a list but I recall from the early years Allison Patterson repeated and so did Carly and Alan Fisher
  20. I could be wrong but I don't recall hearing anything about Justine in any US based projects. However, I am surprised that she didn't pack a suitcase and try her luck in the US, I think she would've done very well. She has the "look" and plays the mean girl role very well. Alex Papps mentioned that he didn't venture over to the US because it would need to be self funded and it would be difficult to get a visa. A shame, I think he could've also done well in the US
  21. Five moments of Infidelity starring Jane from Neighbours and Frank from Home and Away ?
  22. Thanks! Cornelia is a phenomenal actress. Even though she plays very serious characters, I imagine her to be very fun and jovial in real life...although I could be wrong.
  23. Thanks I thought I was the only person who thought this. I recently started watching some old episodes and the difference between the actresses is like night and day. Debra is a great actress but I find her to be respectfully "too much" for the role. It's a shame that Vanessa left however I'm not sure if her and Michael would've had the same same chemistry as her and Tom.
