Channel 5 are currently using the promo from the 2017 finale, for the 2018 season that aired in Australia only. They have made a few adjustments of course to represent this current season. The show is being heavily promoted at the moment as mentioned. They never should have stopped doing that anyways, but as I said as soon as Neighbours came along it was all about that.

I too have noticed the increased promos for Home and Away on C5. I think they have shown more in the last two weeks than they have in the last 10 years or so. When Neighbours landed on five it was all about Neighbours. Home and Away was kind of shunted by five not long after. Just quietly airing with the odd promo here or there and look at how it turned out. The one they invested in the most is the one that's going to be no more. They have no reason to get rid of it really but as posted, I do think they want as many people to move over to 5STAR so they they can eventually take it off the main channel. Who knows. The commercials difference between five and catch up. Ahhahahaha, too true.

True. It's all just up in the air and watch this space. The 6pm to 7pm slot has been filled with some trash. What I can't remember lol. Houses in the garden or something. Why is Home and Away having a mid season finale this year in OZ? Sports? Oh, commonwealth games.

I guess in answer to all of these it's for sure staying on the Five platform however, whilst I can't see any reason for it to move from 5STAR, it may be that it becomes a stream only show via on demand. But watch this space I guess.

I for sure don't regard it as old fashioned. I still watch broadcast TV, it's my to go to place for shows, or I record and watch at a later time. Of course there are a few shows that I watch via prime or netflix but that's a small amount of shows and if they aired on regular television I would watch these on there and have done. As for Home and Away, I have watched via on demand now since the 6pm airing was dropped. This I used to record and watch at 7pm and due to my work schedule it's two episodes one day and three the next. I just can't bring myself to record the 1.15pm airing. Don't ask me why. Because it is the same I guess. I don't record it on 5STAR as it's not HD. Ben Frow sure does have a ridiculous vision of what viewers want to watch but somehow these types of shows do pull in the ratings. Each to their own ( lol )

Hmmmmm? It will be very interesting to see what does happen. I have a feeling it will be dumped to on demand/stream only. As you said they had no issues giving Neighbours the chop although I do think they were running at a very big loss in regards to it. I know they pay for and fund some of Home and Away but as it is still performing extremely well for Channel 7 in its home country and Channel 7 has it in it's primetime slot plus making money from it, it for sure isn't going anywhere soon! Thankfully. I'm just curious as to what he means by the 5 spectrum, that covers a lot of options. The tv landscape was very different when they made the deal with Seven and it continues to change. Watch this space I guess.

Ben Frow, director of programming for Five has today announced that whilst Five has a contract for life of series, which we all know about and all know this means that Channel Five must air Home and Away as long as it is not cancelled by Channel 7, he stated that it will be interesting to see how things evolve and Home and Away may at some point be on the move 'within' the Five spectrum. I wonder what he means by that? Taken off linear broadcasts and that it may possibly move to stream only via 5 on demand? What do you guys think? Very interesting!
