Yes it's the rebuild of the original house. It might be worth having a skim through the thread from which will most likely answer any questions as there's been a lot of discussion of it since it's return in Australia.

You've got me thinking on that now, I suppose if there was actually a bit of a corridor that we don't see, it could technically work (otherwise it would just clash with the kitchen/pantry). It would explain why it doesn't have the same depth as the diner, and what happened to that room at the back, but of course it would still have the other half of the building inexplicably unused. Without detailed analysis of which way the characters go once they go through that door, it's hard to be certain either way Yes it was mentioned in reports of the fire of them taking footage of the house after it had burnt down....

Was Maz's salon meant to be on the right hand side? I always thought it was on the back. That makes more sense now. Yeah if you look at the front of the location you actually realise there's a whole other side that doesn't get mentioned, let alone used for over 7 years (or did they once mention it as storage...can't recall now). As for the other room at the back where Andrew had his office...well who knows! I think they would have been separate sets, if they were joined I imagine they'd have probably utilised it a bit more and had a few shots going through the door (even if they did have to stick up a temporary fourth wall).
-
I don't think they did ever show that other side to my knowledge, save for a couple of stock shots taken from the front right instead of the front left. Not a lot to see though, it was just all open verandah going right around to the rear, and with it being pretty close to the trees it was probably quite dark for camera. Of course showing that side, or the rear, in any detail would have revealed the lack of patio - and they won't do it anytime soon as that corner is now filled in completely, like the corner in the above pic used to be
-
Well that question has now been answered, the trellis has indeed been added to the verandah and it works rather nicely. More-so than the old version actually, considering the shape never matched the interior, and it also explains why the porch on the interior set is now larger. Didn't hide that extra door though They're using that door as the side door, I guess. Really they needed to turn that one into a window. And today's ep confirmed that yes they are using that door as the 'main' door.

Pic of the incident with Pia undercover on the Blaxland which might jog a memory, which was Kip's favourite storyline There were some more profiles uploaded on Friday, and today we've got Scott Phillips, Adrian Hall and Benny Barron http://www.backtothebay.net/characters/ Thanks to RR1 once again.

The stairs themselves are part of the issue though as they wouldn't be anywhere near one side of the restaurant, they'd be right in the middle. I think I understand how you're seeing it now after being confused for a while. The thing to remember is that there is actually a small extension in between those two buildings of the surf club. Basically coming in from the beach, everything to the immediate left of the doors, up to the door to the gym, is in that area between the two blocks. The staircase goes up from that area to adjoin the side of the middle block where Angelo's is (the new extension does overhang it ever so slightly so could work at a push), and they then presumably double back on themselves to come down the corridor to the restaurant. That still doesn't explain the balcony overlooking the ocean though, even if the stairs did change direction, they'd have to wrap around the whole building to have it work correctly.

Yes it's the scene outside Graham's house, it's only about 1km away from the Fletchers' city house so hence the similarities.
-
It is near that area, yes. That location is one that's awaiting upload to the site once we get a revamp for the section sorted.

I'm just giving it a few days to settle down and make sure things are running smoothly before switching them back on.

Yeah that's what I meant before when I mentioned them removing the old laundry and opening up the verandah so it now continues to the rear of the house. It does match up much better. Thinking about it, that new door on the side probably would work better as the main door they use, though they haven't extended the verandah up to it so not sure if that's the intention or not. With the door being towards the rear corner on the old build, there wasn't actually any room behind it for the laundry and kitchen. I think I'm really over-analysing things now..... It's not just you, I'm sure it doesn't work. I'm pretty certain now that the balcony on the set is supposed to be overlooking the ocean - especially since they started using the ocean-facing balcony on the exterior. If that is the case then it simply does not fit as the stairs would be coming up from the wrong side of the building. However if the balcony is supposed to overlook the road, as I thought it must have when it debuted, then it could work at a squeeze.

Yes it's been discussed a fair bit in the BTTB.net updates thread, though I've now moved the posts into here as not so many people seem to read that thread. I spoke to Chris last week and he's still trying his hardest to sort something out. Unfortunately it's a bit of a Catch 22 with the forum often timing out when he starts going through various procedures to try and fix it. The size of the database, with 10 years of posts, is obviously a factor in that, so even moving to a new host would still involve having to back up that database first. Again the hosts have denied any problems at their end, and we certainly haven't changed anything this end (nor has there been any increase in traffic to cause it), so everyone's a bit puzzled. We'll keep you posted on the situation if there are any further developments, but again thanks for your continued patience!

I'm not quite sure what I appreciate more, the fact that Sam was playing Ecco the Dolphin, or the chance for this expression from Morag:

No they weren't Aaron was Justine's half-brother, his father was Malaysian but he grew up with Justine's Australian father.

We haven't actually seen that side of the house on-screen yet, with the 'outside' of the door they always use - all the scenes have been shot at the front of the house so far. Hence the speculation over the last few pages as to what they'll do I couldn't help but find it funny that there was actually more discussion on Summer Bay House than the actual episodes last week...

Ada filmed at the house today for the first time - that door is the new one I mentioned that wouldn't match up with the interior (it'd be somewhere near the desk on the set), though I do spy what I presume to be Alf's fishing rod next to it, so maybe it will be integrated somehow

Whilst the Online List and other features being disabled don't appear to have made a huge difference, we'll be keeping them off for the time being just in case - they'll return once things are (hopefully) back to normal. It's pretty clear to us that the fault isn't at our end, but the hosts aren't being very helpful. As soon as we have any further news we'll let you all know. Thanks for your patience!

Guys, you know we can't allow public discussion of where to find episodes on the forum. Posting there whereabouts can not only put the forum in Seven's bad books, but also draws attention to the source itself, which will only lead to the same thing happening again.

I think the scene with Don breaking down in class remains my favourite, tough call with the previously mentioned beach scene, but that one really hit it home (together with the later related scenes)
-
I was trying to think why that wouldn't work....but couldn't come up with a reason Guess it would just be that same corner of the house again, instead of a lack of porch it'd be a lack of patio. Interesting idea though I think I'd prefer it to stay as it is
-
The house actually looks bigger than it is, if you try to ignore the verandah you'll see how relatively small the house itself is. Let's just say that there's no way they'd fit 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and an attic room up there Ah yes, at first glance I just presumed it was Angelo's. It is annoying when people start criticising whilst being ignorant of the facts, but I guess for people who've only started watching in the past 10 years and haven't seen our Locations page or suchlike, it probably is understandable. Correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't watched closely for a few years, but the rare times we have seen stock shots of the house over the past 12 years, I'm sure it's only really been these two shots: Thinking about my previous comment about upscaling the old footage, they'd already been filming in 16:9 for 2 years before the house burnt down, so it may be the case that those were the only shots they'd done in that format during that time - and as such the only ones considered for upscaling to HD with all the older ones being 4:3. Unfortunately they're just not the best ones to show off the house, but then hindsight is a wonderful thing. To go from those foliage filled side views to these vast wide shots at the front of the house probably would be a bit jarring to those not familiar with it. I guess the unfortunate lack of foliage nowadays also does make it that little bit harder to believe it's right next to the beach (the land is supposed to border onto it), but no-one can hold that against them. *inserts one of those annoying, vague, possibly knowing winks*
