The one on the balcony at Angelo's? Yes they do those quite well (the nighttime ones like that one work much better though). The Pier Diner has had a few night scenes like that, where we can see all the fairy lights outside with some depth between them and the backdrop, and it really does look like they're sitting at Palmy. They even use a very old SFX trick to have the reflections of the water shining up at the cast members

I'm a bit behind but will look out for that! Sorry, couldn't resist expanding on Alex's idea and introducing a subtle change, just to see how things could have been. Technically if they were only using it for static stock shots, someone with way too much time on their hands could easily have done it in post-production (the chairs have been nicked in the past few years by one of the Braxtons)

The embankment is still there but the 'steps' are long gone. Certainly no reason for them to use them now the new driveway is there (thankfully!) Yeah thinking about it they could just stick a bit of trellis inside the verandah if they wanted to, though it might look a bit odd, and just frame it carefully to hide the other set of french doors. As a sidenote, the only part of the verandah filled in now, which wasn't before, is where the back patio is on the set. Not that we ever saw that part of the house anyway - if we did we'd be wondering why there's another door where Pippa's kitchen window should have been. Good point about the shape, I did often wonder if there might have been an invisible 4th wall in front of the desk to make it more L shaped, but that was disproved long ago

I knew you'd be the man to know John The house was well over 100 years old when it burnt down, so there was an awful lot of trees that wouldn't have been there when it was first built - even if they were still standing and the regulations weren't so, they'd have probably had to remove a lot anyway just to be able to get to rebuild it. As I say, we'll hopefully be providing a lot more history on the property in the near future

Posted something like this before, but for those who aren't as familiar with the location, this comparison best shows the effect that the fire had on the land and the changes that have been made. You only have to look at my avatar to see the effect those trees had on the outlook. Of course it's worth remembering that it may well be a conscious decision to keep the immediate surrounding of the house clear of trees, to prevent the same thing happening again. Whilst the original driveway is hidden in the trees in the first pic, you can see the path it took in the 2nd pic, where it now joins up with the new driveway that passes in front of the house. And for those interested, the Caravan Park is now located in the paddock on the lower left of the 2nd pic. You can just make out the original caravan park in the first pic to the rear of the house.

Indeed, I won't use his exact words but when I was talking to a crew member in 2004 he did mention that it was a bit of a logistical nightmare filming there at times. Production has changed a lot since then though, and they've got a lot more room there now for all the production vehicles, so things should be a bit easier.

Most of my essay writing days at Uni were spent procrastinating doing valuable research in this very thread... scary to think it's now. What are you studying BethFaye? Presumably something in the medical/biology field

Oh how I can relate to that.... had trials of both Amazon Prime & Netflix over Christmas and ended up spending most of the time adding things to the watchlist. They're good services but I don't think I'd ever subscribe to them. But then I'm a bit of a film buff and have already seen most of the ones I was interested in on there, if not already owning them on Blu-ray. I'm generally not a fan of US TV shows either so that limits it down a bit more - though I did take the opportunity to watch Bates Motel which I loved (big Hitchcock fan).

On watching the early years back it's just reiterated to me that Pippa is a far more flawed character than a lot of people seem to remember her. I think the 'saint' image was established after she left due to her return visits and flashbacks, conversations Sally had with Flynn etc. I enjoy watching how she puts her foot in it every so often and comes across as hypocritical from time to time. Michael has been the same and it's frustrating at the same time as entertaining. I do remember talking to someone once and H&A came up in conversation, and they mentioned how they couldn't stand that "bloody perfect mother" that used to be on the show. I kept quiet about the fact I'd actually been emailing Debra that very morning... Just one of the many good things about the repeats, learning new things about the characters everyone thought they knew so well.

The front door has continued to be used on occasion throughout the years as you saw people entering from the hallway, we just didn't see that fourth wall the door was on (though there's something in my mind telling me we saw a hint of it a couple of years ago....) I'm not quite sure what they're going to do with that. As you'll recall, that corner of the verandah was filled in on the old house (it was a laundry) and the porch sat on the outside of that. One of the very few changes they made to the exterior when they rebuilt it was to remove the old laundry so that the verandah continues around that corner. There are 2 sets of french doors on that side of the house now, opening onto the verandah, but it wouldn't match the interior anymore. So it'll be interesting to see if they do use that side and if they do anything to hide the changes.

Speaking of locations, there's a rather fun story on the main site That particular location is still on our 'To Photograph' list by the way.

Actually.... the Caravan Park is already back there. It's been on-screen since at least October, I think the first scenes may have been when Gray turned up but don't quote me on it. However it's not in the same place as it was years ago (to the rear of the house). It's further down the hill before the driveway passes the front of the house and they're not visible to each other. Now that the house is back on-screen they may make the link between them again, we'll wait and see Sadly.... Shame they didn't get in there in 2009 and do some stock shots before the new owner's paintjob (I don't think it's quite Reenie's style)...stranger things have happened though

They can only use old ones for so long, it's been over 12 years. The one they did use of Summer Bay House always looked a bit out of place, given that it was upscaled from 4:3 SD footage. At least using it now the new build has had a few years to settle in and for a bit of greenery to grow - it would have stood out like a sore thumb if they'd used it straight away. Though obviously the bushfire completely wiped out the old landscape so it won't ever look quite as lush as it used to, at least not for many many years.

It's the real life rebuilt house, not a replica created by the props department. Wow I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for correcting me! Nevertheless it looks fantastic! There is a pic of the newly rebuilt house on our Location page from a few years back - though fingers crossed there may be a lot more info/pics coming very soon, so watch this space....

Noticed in Episode 1306 that Greg called Adam a "lowlife b*****d" but they muted the last word - still there in the subtitles though. Unless they went to the trouble of muting the dialogue track for 7TWO (the underscore is still there), it may have been an edit made before it was originally broadcast.

I'd like to think Morag was genuine in that scene with Alf - I really do think it's one of those rare moments where we saw her at her most vulnerable, rather like when she broke down whilst Alf had his brain tumour. It's the scarcity of those moments that make them all the more hard-hitting. I've always loved that final scene with Don and Sam on the beach too (as one of my previous avatars may suggest).

For those that don't read the 7TWO transmission thread, be aware that there's double eps next Mon-Thurs to bring the episodes back in line with their original blocks. It also means our rundown of important dates will now be valid again for Ep 1320 onwards (I'm sure that was the real reason they did it)

Gosh that takes me back, I remember seeing H&A on the front of my grandma's Woman's Own quite frequently now you mention it. This particular one was Inside Soap, got the TV Times version too but this one was more relevant to the questions people were asking in the thread. The other side of the page was talking about Annie Sugden still being in a coma after the Emmerdale plane crash (Dec '93), which puts a bit of a perspective on the UK timeframe I'll try to post a few more in the future when the storylines approach. He actually said himself that, surprisingly, he didn't get any abuse at all. The worst he got was two blokes shouting "Bobby Killer" at him at a set of traffic lights. There were lots of claims about him becoming the most hated man in Australia in the press, but they weren't true.

Here's a little something from the archive that may be of interest regarding Bobby/Nicolle:

Good spot, note taken for next update

Ross? Ross Newton who played Greg.

Yes, Colleen called her by her full name.

Just to confirm that the Early Years airings are indeed continuing over Christmas as they did last year. Which also means our timeline (spoiler alert) as to when the major events of the season air still stands
