The finale airs in Oz on Wednesday 10th December. Cheers Dan, just out of interest, why a Wednesday? They've done it the past couple of years, airing the final 3 eps together as a "feature-length" finale.

Vinnie "VJ" Patterson Jnr - Felix Dean & Matt Little
Dan F replied to Perry's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
Though you're leaving out the fact that he's the only one to have played him for nearly 7 out of the 13 years VJ's been on the show, not to mention that all those before him (with perhaps the exception of Cooper Scott briefly) were non-speaking babies/toddlers with no particular prominence. It's not so much the fact that he's been recast that people aren't happy about, we all know it happens all the time, but more the suitability of the replacement and the rather transparent reason for casting him. Around 95% of the comments I've read both on here and various other places on the net all say the same thing, he simply looks too old (and yes, even when you do take the silly SORAS into account). -
Still listed up to 12th December at the moment (listings not yet available for after that). If it does end up going on a break I've no doubt it will be posted in here hastily

Just a small note to say that the Most Popular Character 2006 poll is also now revamped and up in it's proper place on the site. Those two were the main priority as they hadn't been transferred over to the new system and so were lost in the depths. The subsequent MPC polls are already there, but 2008 and 2010 will also get a revamp at some point - they were created at a time when neither Chris or I were particularly available to design proper indexes/graphics, and so the other staff had to struggle with the limited controls inside our publishing system.
-
Another used frequently in 1998, the end of the song probably being the most recognisable as it was usually used to end scenes going into the ad-break:

Yeah it looks like it - Jack arrives in April '94 followed by Selina in May (though that's her initial guest stint).

We've carried on the profile updates with a selection of guest character profiles, so thanks again to RR1 and also QA for those. As it's exactly 10 years tomorrow since we launched our very first Most Popular Character poll, it has now been revamped and put back on the site. It has always been there but the links got lost over time, so it needed redesigning and transferring to the publishing system we use nowadays in order to have it appear in the Features index again. It should make interesting reading for some anyway, hopefully the other couple of polls currently hidden away will follow suit soon. Most Popular Character 2004

All regular characters now updated up to June 2014 - with the exception of Alf who sadly didn't do anything of note in the first half of the year.

Not too sure on that one at the mo, I can't seem to track down the names of any of the songs that Sally, Jude & Noah performed. From what I've seen of the 2 bands I haven't noticed any of the songs matching up so far. Just had a look at the performance after the bands merged and they performed 'Shaka Uwaye La' again, as well as 'George' by Headless Chickens: Earlier in the week they'd also practiced 'Cruise Control', again by Headless Chickens, which was another one used a fair bit on the show all through the 90's:

Ah I could have helped with that one! It was used quite prominently in 1998 when Justine, Tiegan and Gypsy formed their band (The Broken Dolls). It was the very first song they tried out in the classroom, and they later performed it at the school dance. Great song though, thanks for the reminder! It's also reminded me of one of another classroom performance from the same year, Rebecca was auditioning kids for Romeo & Juliet and the audition piece was "I've Got a Plan" by My Friend the Chocolate Cake (which was one that appeared on the H&A Soundtrack album, one of my faves on there). I know it was used for other prominent scenes but can't remember what offhand.
-
Oh yes, so it has - that's only ever happened once before (Sally's). Fixed now!

An appropriate day (on Oz screens) for Marilyn, John & Jett's profile updates today. I won't be mentioning every character every day, but it's worth a mention today as Marilyn's profile update also includes a big addition to include her 1995-1999 stint that was previously missing. http://www.backtothebay.net/characters/

Small update today with the addition of the 2nd set of 1993 Opening Titles. We've also started the 6 month update of character profiles again for all main cast (storylines up to June 2014), so a big thanks to RR1 once again for those.

Yup there's now a small dresser in it's place

They've removed the step up to the bedroom and bathroom, meaning they no longer have to raise the whole back part of the set. That's the one Understandable, but I guess it did make the set that little bit more interesting and multi-level (even if it was only a few inches).
-
Strictly speaking this thread is for the exterior locations, though can't recall offhand if one was ever created for general talk about the sets....will have a root around at some point. Surprisingly the makeover at Irene's has seen the downstairs bedroom next to the front door disappear back into the parallel universe that it appeared from in the mid-90's. It admittedly never did make sense when they first introduced it, as they were still using the old exterior shots showing the small boatshed in that position, but it does seem odd to remove it after so long. I wonder if they'll remember that they've now got one less bedroom than the infinite number they had before.... There is another small structural change, which I'll be interested to see if anyone has spotted Going back to that one, for me that change did seem like a step back in the wrong direction. Having the doors open straight out onto an overlit backdrop of the parking area (which you could only catch a glimpse of anyway with the overexposure) seemed far more realistic - having the big trellis of greenery there just screams "this is a set and we're blocking the view out the window to disguise it". I'm not sure why they'd want to put a large window in on that side of the set only for it to look out at a wall of greenery (which you wouldn't bother doing in reality). Speaking of reality, it also no longer matches the real-life entrance at Palm Beach.

That was Melbourne, on the southbank between the King St and Queen St bridges. It did seem a bit of a strange one, to go all the way there for that one scene. Perhaps Justine was already doing a publicity event or suchlike. Whilst there were 1-2 other scenes 'set' there, they could have been filmed anywhere. Seven evidently had no knowledge of this when it came to writing the 25th anniversary book, and told the head writer I was mistaken. It wasn't until I provided a screencap that they believed it happened (as opposed to the first Melbourne shoot being the much heralded 2009 one).

Oh I see. Thanks for answering my question, Dan F Do Wendy and Annie have guest character profiles? Not as yet.
-
It was Wendy Bachelor, played by Rebecca Lenehan, who initially snatched Paul. But when she died in the fire at Saul's commune, Paul was taken on by Annie (Tessa Wells) which is who you'll be thinking of. She had him for a couple of months before she was convinced to give him up by Father Little

Sorry guys, I have every sympathy but please remember that 'non-legit' ways to view episodes are not allowed to be discussed publicly on the forum. Posting any links to find episodes online not only puts us in an awkward position with Seven, but also makes it more likely that the Youtube channel or suchlike will be flagged up quicker by their legal department.

Some stumpers there. As far as I know, H&A's deal with Mushroom gives them the opportunity to use songs from any of their independent artists, sometimes before the songs have even been released - perhaps some of those songs actually never got a full release, or an extremely limited one which went under the radar. Of course there's also the possibility of stock library music, but that does tend to be more instrumentals than songs. Darn, thought I had that ep but doesn't seem I do. Don't suppose you know of any other uses of it offhand?
