It does seem a rather bizarre episode to give the show new credits (as well as including Matt on them for what is perhaps the shortest opening credits stint).

It appears it was a "copy and paste" error on my behalf. It appears I've entered #124 in both #123 and #124. #123 should read: Thanks for making us aware of it. I'm sure it's not the only error I've made either!

It is our plan now that the each episode has a short summary, to start filling in the long summaries, and certainly we'll be striving to fill in the gaps as the episodes air in the Early Years. Since I can't guarantee when they'd be uploaded, I'd suggest these guides on Old H&A Fan's site. http://web.archive.org/web/20070304154410/...away/ep0090.htm

Seeing as how we're more than a 1/3 of the way through the year now the Scene Counts and Episode count for each character are. Pippa 404 (64) Tom 394 (67) Frank 388 (66) Carly 342 (57) Bobby 342 (56) Lynn 316 (50) Steven 308 (54) Ailsa 242 (59) Alf 225 (57) Lance 219 (46) Floss 199 (41) Martin 198 (42) Roo 197 (39) Sally 192 (46) Neville 185 (40) Celia 152 (40) Fisher 149 (46) Surprisingly there's been one week so far where they decided to put Sally in every episode. Roo's total is surpisingly when you consider she was in the City for 28 episode. When Sandra left she had been used in more scenes than Celia. Whilst Lynn has dropped behind Carly and Bobby now, she has still been quite prolific in racking up the scenes.

To not spoil anyone in this thread, ish, if you go into the episode summaries on the main site and go to May 1988 and then Episode 95, it is revealed there. They have also got a character profile on the site as well.
-
Don't worry, he leaves permanently by the end of 1988.

In a week of rarities, we have another one coming in Episode 73!

I can't for the life of me work out how the downstairs bedroom fits into the any plausible lay out plan.

I think throughout this first year where she's at loggerheads with Ailsa and Bobby, the general public in 88 treated her pretty badly, calling her names, spitting on her etc. for the vicious things she's done and does do. Though I've jokingly said before that perhaps if we spat on her for not returning to the show, she might return!

A Summary of the main storylines of 2009 has been uploaded here. http://www.backtothebay.net/features/2009-...on-review.shtml

You've got to remember that when they cast this story, with Barlow making his first appearance in Episode 15 and Kerry and Sandra about 30 that they would be casting for a show that was yet to actually air and whilst it would probably have some pull being "Seven's new soap", you might not get as large numbers as you do nowadays. I still think Gerald Sont was terrible. I certainly can't remember him being this bad in 2005.

Episode 2855 was on the website to download for nearly two years! Onto today's episode, it seemed a strange one. Like ES said, they do seem to have been getting rid of Sandra particularly quickly and thought CM-J wasn't particularly great in acting terms, I liked the character of Sandra, though without the domestic abuse storyline, I wonder where she could have went in terms of the show over the next year or so. The Floss/Neville story is all slightly bizarre and a rather predictable cliffhanger.
-
Episode 2855 was an episode with a 10 minute scene where a lot of the original cast sat down and talked about things that happened over their times in the show. It's an episode where very little happens in terms of action, but it does tidy a few things up and lets us know where some of the old characters are now. Alison Patterson is mentioned as well, I think, for the first time confirming that she is related to Vinnie (debuts on the Early Years September 2017). It's one of my favourite episodes. That's the end of the shows first large guest cast story arc and it does seem strange that in the following 4950 episodes, we never really see them again.

Alf, when the press guides were produced at the beginning of the show was born November 46 (looking at the site it also says war baby, but which war I have no idea since Hiroshima and Nagasaki had been nuked for about 14 months by then). However, one of the Early Years episodes this week has Alf telling Celia that he's 45, which would now make him a 42-43 birth (which would make him a war baby as the Russians were begining to turn the tide against the Germans). However, Episode 4000 made him a July 1945 birth, which again means he got in just before the end of the war. Fisher I believe celebrated his 50th birthday in early 1995. That makes him about 5 months older than Alf. In an early episode Celia states she's younger than Ailsa. Ailsa turned 50 in 2000, however nenehcherry in the Week 13 thread states that she is 42 in January 1989, therefore taking 11 years and 9 months to age at most 8 years. This means that Celia must have been born after 1947 or 1950. There's a post somewhere in the staff section that has all the ages from some press release type thing, can't find it, but if I do I'll post my findings.

Forgot to add, I loved the Carly/Lynn scene near the end of the episode where Lynn talks about her family and how full of hope she is that things are going to turn out well for.
-
Like the current Australian episodes, because we spent so long one one day, it feels all weird in timing, as if we've missed some time out somewhere as Lynn feels back very quickly and Roo seems to be leaving very quickly. Also, I hope the English teachers at Mandora have better grammar than those making the sign. I'm sure that comma is in the wrong place.
-
Whilst Alf's family have been SORAS'ed, you may notice the opposite happens to Alf. He's 45 in today's episode, however in 2005 by the time he turns 60.

I am really enjoying the Barlow storyline. So far, it appears to have been a storyline set within some realms of realism, partly because the show today would have had umpteen levels of stupidity so far. I think it's been done really well. Whether or not it's a realistic portrayal of domestic abuse, I don't know, but it certainly has been thought provoking and entertaining. Yesterdays episode is one of those that feels funny because it doesn't stick within what feels ike a normal timeline, probably about 2-3 hours period of time and so you almost forget that the bus is still stuck at the moment.

This weeks scene counts see our first ever tie - and it's a three way one between Neville, Floss and Bobby. I'd be surprised if Bobby doesn't win again, but I wouldn't put much money on Floss or Neville winning again. One thing that I really felt about todays episode was that it did feel like it was Easter in that everyone in their own way was doing Easter-y things.
-
I really enjoyed todays episodes - the Bobby/Fisher relationship beginning though neither know of their shared blood at this point and a main theme throughout the year. One thing I am confused about is Matt being credited in every closing credits. He's appeared in 9 episode for a total of 16 scenes. I keep on waiting for him to play a more pivotal role and each episode he's never there.

http://www.backtothebay.net/ Basically, it's 6 years since BTTB was launched.

So, that's Ben back with his father and I know where the opening scene is from for a set of 1988 credits I'd seen.Another good episode - isn't this almost the start of the Bobby/Fisher relationship. Also, here's the scene counts for the first 53 episodes, with the number of scenes followed by the number of episodes. Lynn and Alf are surpising IMO, around Episode 47 Lynn got 4 off the lead. Pippa 237 (34) Frank 236 (39) Tom 227 (35) Lynn 219 (31) Bobby 217 (34) Carly 209 (33) Steven 201 (34) Ailsa 148 (35) Floss 146 (27) Alf 134 (33) Neville 129 (32) Lance 124 (28) Sally 119 (27) Martin 111 (24) Fisher 104 (30) Roo 96 (21) Celia 66 (21)

There she is- that woman - cleaning the house for Jack Hunter coming around! A better episode today I thought - certainly seemed better at moving the stories along than last week. I do think though that show is missing something without Roo - without Roo it's almost as if everyone is too nice - the exception being Fisher, but even he is becoming more and more rounded.

A very bizarre week I have to admit so far. Todays episode was another where between Lance and Martin and Floss and Neville, we seemed to be stuck in the caravan park, with a rather bizarre storyline about digging up buried tresasure, it feels that the show veered from trivial to dark and then back to trivial again.
