Yep, yay to weirdness! I've been doing Spanish since year 7 and it drives me crazy, by the end of the first year all the fun stuff had stopped and it was on to confusing, and boring, Spanish grammar and stuff. Next year I can chose my options so I don't have to do it anymore, or any other stuff I really hate :D

I *love* languages....grammar is my favourite part. Yes, I'm weird. :P I wish I'd taken a second for 'A'-Level, but I hated my French teacher at GCSE, so I dropped it. :(

Aww my French teacher's lovely, not very good at teaching, but lovely all the same! I quite like French but I find spanish oober boring, along with maths, geography and textiles.

I don't do chemisty, just joint sciences. I think that when it comes to GCSE you can do any of the sciences though. I really like science, partly because I find it pretty easy.

I'm in need of help. I have a 1500 word Anthropology essay worth 20% of my final grade. There's not much information in the Uni library and we were told not to use the internet unless the site has been recommended by the tutors or lecturers. But, they have not recommended any on the outline sheet. I messed up my essay outline so I basically have to do this from scratch again.

This is my question:

Outline and comment on how the different sub-discplines in Anthropology [Archealogy, Biological Anthropology, Social Anthropology, Ethnomusicology, and Linguistics] contribute to the understanding of Pacific peoples and their cultures. Choose specific examples to highlight these contributions.

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help. :)

hmmm- good essay! Right, first I would check out www.questia.com- Its basically an online library- will full text books, articles, journals, etc. Its BRILLIANT and saves you both trips to your library (my library is useless as well) and much cheaper and faster than inter-library loans. They have a whole section on anthropology. It costs about 20 us dollars for a months subscription, but you get a 7 day free trial so you might get everything you need for free!

I would also approach it perhaps by initially explaining what each subdiscipline of anthropology offers towards a more 'fuller' understanding of the complexities of the different peoples and cultures in question. (for example, archaeology- and its subdisciplines, like gender archaeology, osteoarchaeology etc) offer unique insights into the material culture of a particular society, and linguistics offers another...)

and then offer specific cultural examples of each. (actually, I'd give a few for each, making them very different).

hope this helps, and feel free to PM me or email me if you need a bit more advice/help! (by the way just so you know I'm not a raving lunatic, I'm in the final year of my doctorate in archaeology/social anthropology. :)

What about Henry VIII? ALOT of things might have been different if he didnt divorce Catherine and marry Anne Bolyn and declare himself the head of the English church!

Or - oohh- Michael Collins! If he hadnt of organized the shoot out at the Four Courts the fire wouldnt have happened, and all those archives wouldnt have burned! also, perhaps Ireland wouldnt have had a civil war...

I think its important to look at the word 'dangerous' though- no one is completely dangerous ALL the time. There are things that they do that are totally harmless as well- I guess I'm saying 'dangerous' is a relative term!

hmm. I'm having fun focusing on other peoples work instead of my own
