Grr Just wondering if anyone could help me with either of these two questions: (these are year 11 Maths B questions just in case anyone was wondering) Find the equation of the line (in y=mx+c form) that is: Having a gradient of 2, passing through the intersection of the lines with equations y=3x-5 and y=-2x = 5. and Having a gradient of -3/4, passing through the intersection of the lines with equations x+4y=-14 and -5x+2y=4. Any help is extremely appreciated!

LOL now that's a tricky part (I was very good at the end of it but I can reameber some??) now since I pass Maths and not doing it this year (well I am not) and don't forget that the 'x' is the power of what ever number you have for the exmaple 2x3= 2 is the power of 6 (That should be right!!??) make sure you use a fraction Calulate!! it's very important!! lol not too sure if that's what you are talking about??

So that means the formula is now y = 2x + c Somehow we have to find "c" knowing that the lines passes through the intersection of the lines with equations y=3x-5 and y=-2x = 5.

Hey i wouldnt be able to do it but I think I know how your suposed to do it. lol. I think you do the simultanious equations to the y=3x-5 and y=-2x-5 and then you get x and y and you can pyt that in the original equation to get c.

Because similtanious equations are in the same chapter but we skipped over them for now because we need our graphics calculators to do it or something. But I know how to do them without the graphics calculator so I'm going to try that! Thanks
Eli Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Homework-help thread super spammer Eli is back with more weird questions that aren't really homework related, she just hasn't got anywhere else to post it. My friend is taking a year of high school in New Zealand (leaving this summer) and we have already started planning farewell parties and funny things to stay in touch. One of our (mine, I'm proud of it) plans so far is to send her a "support e-mail" after a few weeks, all in English (pretending we think she has forgotten Norwegian) with a photostory about us trying to picture her new lifestyle. Basically we are gonna do weird stuff we don't usually do, all of it super-New Zealand...ic...ish...ian...y (I still have no idea!!). It's kind of a funny thing grabbing all New Zealand associated stuff and making a day out of it. Later we will do the same thing with Norway before she comes home, like a reminder of the Norwegian lifestyle (and like the New Zealand...ic day we are gonna totally overdo it). Now it's pretty easy with the Norwegian stuff, we put on skis (in May), wave flags, eat disguisting traditional food and watch crappy soaps about a hotel, stuff like that. The problem is we don't know that much about New Zealand...ish (for the love of God, someone help me out here!) culture and lifestyle, WHICH brings me to the point: Help me. This is what we've got too far: -Find some sheep at a meadow somewhere and take some photos of us with them -Watch an episode of The Tribe -Play Cricket. I'm not sure about the cricket thing, isn't that more Australian? Or do you play it much in NZ too? All I know about New Zealandy sports is that sheep woll trimming (or whatever it's called) is the national sport (we will bring a pair of scissors to the meadow, just to have a few dots of woll to show off with). So please help me out, what is typical New Zealandian? What can we do to totally overdo the lifestyle? Food? Activities? Sports? Clothes? Thanks in advance!
Cal Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Great idea, Eli. NZ'ers are more Rugby heads than Cricket ones, if I remember correctly. On the food issue: Roast Lamb, HokeyPokey (No idea what the hell it is, but it could be something to do with the fish 'Hokey'), Pavlovas, Banana Sandwiches, Manuka Honey (VERY expensive, especially in Norway because of the tax. )

It could be Australia though, but I thought their natinal sport was cricket. I guess we'll try rugby then! Anything else? I'm looking for any weird and crazy cultural stuff, and don't be afraid to make your traditions seem weird, Norwegians are used to weird and especially bad tasting culinary traditions And about the chocolate fish, that sounds like something we need to add. I can't think of anything like that over here, but you wouldn't happen to know if it's possible to get it in Norway, Sweden or Denmark? Because if there is I could try to get some shipped... That goes for the United states and Canada too, even if they're not shipped over the atlantic (I have friends who will buy and ship for me) so if you know of any stores in any European or American stores that sell the fish it would be greatly appreciated! I know it's a long shot, but we're willing to do a lot to get a good photostory
