The Homework Help Thread

Right, I have a debate to do for school and am having trouble finding enough information ....

Does anyone happen (unlikely) top know anything about the Italian government position on the motions:

1) "All countries must take immediate action to reduce levels of greenhouse gas emissions"

2) "No country should have nuclear weapons"

3) "The USA and its allies are right to try to spread freedom and democracy throughout the world."

School computers won't let us access half the pages we need, so anyone who knows anything will be a great help as I can research further at home tonight. Thanks! :)

Hmm, Alli. According to this site, the Italian minister called for "urgent action" on carbon emissions. Italy are also part of the EU Kyoto protocol, which combats climate change; so I guess that would indicate that they're big players in climate change (or, as big a player as one can be in a political "thing" that seems to do very little to help the situation[/cynicism]) (search Wikipedia, or something - I only found articles in Italian ['cause I'm cool like that :P]).

According to this, very waffly and incomprehensible article, (I just got the information from what came up on the Google search, but that's the actual link if you need it for a bibliography), "the Italian government support the proposal concerning the establishment of a nuclear weapon-free zone in the Middle East." Oh, and there's also this, where the Italian Foreign Minister is quoted as telling Reuters (news agency) that "“a politics of disarmament (of nuclear weapons) must be relaunched, one that invites reflection on part of the great powers, starting with the United States." Francesco Martone, head of the Rifondazione Comunista-European Left in the Foreign Affairs committee of the Italian Senate, told Arms Control Today that the government should "cancel Italian participation" in the nuclear programe. He also says that Italy should initiate discussions on nuclear sharing "with a view to free our country from nuclear weapons". (However, some in NATO believe that Italy will still join the programme, to avoid the hefty financial penalties that would be incurred by opting out).

Maybe that's of some help. :)

Thank you, pritnep. Sorry for sounding really demanding. I have an excuse though! I was in Computing class, and the teacher saw me on BttB and said he was going to block the website, so I said that I was asking other people for help. He asked me to prove it. So, I had to come in this thread, write the question and show him, all before he walked over to my computer  Now I can still come on here at school, and I've gotten some very useful links out of it :P So, thank you :)

While I'm here, could anyone post some useful links to help me with this History assignment, please? I have no idea where to start.

I have two questions to answer:

1. Why did New Zealand seek new security arrangements after World War II?

Describe how New Zealand attempted to use collective agreements to guarantee its security in the years 1945-1955.

2. For what reasons did New Zealand become increasingly involved in Asia and the Pacific during the period 1945 to 1985?

Describe New Zealand’s military involvement in Asia during this period.

I just need a couple of useful links. Thanks in advance.
