They were similar but with noticable differences. Before America joined World War Two (Pearl Harbour) they were 'officially' neutral but unofficially sent supplies, arms, machinery etc to Britain to help the Allies in the war, this was the lend-lease agreement but it was ended by the American Secretary of State Charles Marshall in 1945 who instead implemented the Marshall Plan. The idea behind the Marshall Plan was that 'America will rebuild Europe'. They lent money to European countries to help them rebuild their markets and prevent depression. Help was also given to Germany and her allies with the aim of avoiding another war and turning an enemy into an ally. USSR and countries controlled by USSR refused to take any Marshall Plan money because Stalin felt it was an imperialist plot against his powerary of State. Hope that helps. Don't think there are any threads here on the subject, but depending on what exactly you want to know, there were a number of articles in the paper recently about this topic.
