What is correct SPAG?

Read the rule on SPAG again... No one has said anything about having the correct spelling. I think you read too much into the rule as well as posts in a thread you have posted in earlier.

I don't really think I have. It seems to be a fairly big issue. I'd just hate to think people are put off because of it, that's all

As far as I know, people are not put off by it. From what I gather, you are a fairly new member (not that there's anythign wrong with that! :)), and it might be a good idea to be here a bit before you judge a board. You are entitled to your own opinions, but I wish you would have a look around before you set your mind about how this board is run.

Yes, trying to keep the standard of this board is important to us. Why? Because we don't want to end up as so many other net-board, where everyone writes in their own txt-style. We have a few/some members with learning difficulties/dyslexia, and those are not given warnings when it comes to SPAG etc. But, as long as members don't let us know they're dyslexic, there's not much we can do.

As for members playing mods; this is a problem we're currently dealing with.

I set up an account the other day but I've actually been reading the forum for a good few months now.

Is this in reference to something else?

I can understand what you are saying, but i can understand where the mods and admins are coming from. There are so many threads and posts, i dont want to spend all my time trying to figure out what other people say. I would rather spend my time chatting. Even though i use text on my mobile, and on msn. It is not suited here on this site.

I agree, I'm not talking about text speak, that annoys me too. I'm just talking about people who maybe have difficulties with the English language.

Our mods are not stupid by any means, if there are some words spelt wrong thay are not going to pounce on anyone. The rule is there for people to follow and not for idiots to abuse. They are a really good bunch of people. Enjoy the forum.

From what I've read they all seem pretty cool. The only one I've spoken to so far is Mercury Girl, and although we seem to disagree slightly, it's nice to have a discussion about it.

She is a good person. With a good head on her shoulders, the same can be said for most of the members. And of course the rest of the mods, admins.

Disagrement is not the biggest problem on this board, as you might notice soon. It's good to have an open discussion about the rules and how they are enforced.

About foreign speakers: We have a fair share of non-native speakers, but they all seem to cope very well with writing in English here. I know we have some Estonian members, and some of them seem to have benefited from having to write in English, and making themselves understood. As for my general impression of foreign-speakers; they all seem to learn a whole lot of English words, phrases and general communication from this board. As do native-speakers.
