Skykat
Probably the last chapter for a week because I'm away on a business trip so enjoy!! Thankls again Jess.xxx CHAPTER FORTY FIVE “What is it?” Peter asked, sensing her discomfort and giving her his full attention. “I…” Angel began, Peter looked at her questioningly but her mouth could not seem to form the words. “What?” Peter asked looking confused. “I’ve changed my mind, about you living here,” Angel told him. “You’ve what? Angel I thought you were happy with this?” Peter asked. “Well I’m not, I’m not comfortable with having a stranger in my house. I agreed to it because Dylan was pushing but I can’t do it,” Angel told him. She had no idea where the words were coming from except that something in her head was telling her that this was easier than telling him the truth. “I’m sorry, I thought you were happy with me living here, you agreed to it,” Peter protested. “I know and I’m sorry, but it just doesn’t feel right. I’m not used to having to share my space with someone,” Angel replied. “You didn’t mind Don,” Peer argued, “I thought you were happy with our arrangement?” “Well I’m not. Don’s family and you never will be,” Angel snapped. “I’m sorry I make you feel like that. Have I done something to upset you?” Peter asked. “No I just don’t want you living here. I don’t want a strange man in my life, around my kids,” Angel replied. “But I don’t get it, I thought we were friends?” Peter asked, confused. “Well you were wrong, I was just keeping you onside to make sure you gave the search for Selina your full attention,” Angel snapped at him bitterly. Peter’s face was a picture of devastation and Angel did feel guilty but she wanted so badly to hurt him. She was hurting and it seemed only fair that he should hurt too. “I can’t honestly believe you could be that cruel, why are you saying all this?” Peter asked, shocked. “Because it’s the truth, and the truth is that you don’t actually know me at all. You have no idea what I’m like, I am cruel and I’m cold and I’m serious. I want you to leave. I’m going shopping but you better not be here when I get back,” Angel told him. “But where am I meant to go?” Peter asked, completely baffled by the recent turn of evens and utterly in shock at what Angel was saying. “I’m sure you’ll find something. It’ll be nice and cosy for you living with your brother, which’ll make it much easier for you to share his wife! I mean it Peter, I’ll be an hour and you better not be here when I get back!” Angel screamed before racing out of the door leaving Peter in a state of utter bewilderment and more than a little devastated. A tentative Belle followed the voice into a beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean front room where a woman sat draped upon the couch. She looked almost as if she was posing for a picture or appearing in a magazine, Belle thought. At a guess Belle would have said she was around fifty; her hair was dyed a vibrant blonde and her face was relatively unlined but her eyes betrayed her, they looked worn and tired. “Hello dear, who are you?” the woman asked. “I’m sorry for barging in Ma’am, it’s just…I think…I think you might be my mother,” Belle burst out. To her surprise the woman burst out laughing. “Why that’s a ridiculous notion dear, you see I can’t have children,” the woman responded. “Oh.” Belle felt deflated. “What on earth made you think I was your mother child?” The woman asked. “You’re Katherine Allgate aren’t you?” Belle asked. “Yes I am.” “It’s just, you wrote letters to my adopted parents asking about me so I thought…I presumed you were my mother,” Belle explained. “Letters?” The woman’s face paled. “Yes and this photo, it’s you isn’t it?” Belle demanded, handing the photograph over. “Yes dear that is me and that means you must be Susan Taylor,” Katherine replied, quietly. “Belle,” Belle replied. “Right Belle.” Katherine looked deep in thought. “So if you’re not my mother why were you writing to my adopted parents? Why did you want to know about me?” Belle demanded. “The truth is dear that I knew your mother. Well I didn’t know her exactly, but I used to work in a shelter for homeless people and your mother approached me. She was heavily pregnant and desperate, she had no money and did not think she could give you a decent life. She asked me to help so I arraigned for you to be placed with a family I knew who were desperate for a child,” Katherine explained. “So you helped her give me away? Couldn’t you have helped her?” Belle demanded. “It wasn’t my job to dear and I did help her. I was with her when she gave birth to you, I helped her through and I was going to wait to ask her if she was certain before she gave you up but I never got the chance,” Katherine explained. “How do you mean?” Belle asked. “I’m sorry child, your mother died giving birth to you,” Katherine explained. A solitary tear dripped from a devastated Belle’s face. “You mean I killed my mother?” she asked, devastated. “No of course not! Your mother was sick, she’d have died anyway,” Katherine replied, Belle nodded. “Do you have anything of hers? Do you know her name even?” Belle begged. “No dear, I’m sorry,” Katherine replied, “I always felt sorry for your mother, that’s why I was interested in your welfare and I’m delighted to see you so healthy. I’m sorry this is such an awful shock to you. Would you like a cup of tea?” she offered. “No thank you. You’re sure there’s nothing you can tell me about her?” Belle begged. “I’m sorry dear.” “Thanks anyway then.” A devastated Belle bolted from the house. “Hey how did it go?” Ric asked as his girlfriend came running from the house towards him, “Belle?” he asked as she grabbed her rucksack and took off up the street at a run. Quickly he followed her and easily caught her up, “Belle, talk to me, what happened?” he urged. Belle could not get her words out because she was crying too hard, and at first she fought against Ric but he proved too strong for her and eventually she broke down in tears on his shoulder and allowed him to put his arms around her and comfort her. “It was horrible!” she sobbed. “Was she your mother?” Ric asked. “No, my mother’s dead,” Belle replied followed instantly by more sobs. “Oh Belle, I’m so sorry,” Ric soothed, holding her closer. “I just wanted to meet her…you know, know what she was like…where I came from and now I never will,” Belle sobbed. “Was she a relation of your mothers, this Katherine Allgate?” Ric asked. “No.” Belle was a little calmer now and pulled back from Ric’s embrace. “Katherine worked at a shelter for homeless people and my mother came to her and asked her for help in getting rid of me, Katherine organised my adoption,” Belle explained. “So how does she know your mother’s dead?” Ric asked. “She was with my mother, when it happened, when I was born. The same day my mother died,” Belle told him tearfully. “You mean…” “My mother died giving birth to me,” Belle finished ensuring a fresh bout of sobs. “Oh Belle you poor thing, I’m so sorry,” Ric soothed. “It’s okay, I’m just gutted you know. I so badly wanted to know her and even if I didn’t get to know her, I wish I could have known things about her. Even her name would have been better than this…this nothingness,” Belle told him. “I know.” Ric held her close while she cried some more. “Thanks,” she whispered. “What for?” Ric asked. “For seeing my vulnerable side and not running a mile,” Belle replied. “As if I would, I love you,” Ric told her. “I love you too.” Belle kissed him lightly on the lips. “Now what?” Ric asked. “I guess we head back to Irene’s,” Belle replied, taking his hand and leading the way towards the Beach House. From her window Katherine Allgate watched the couple walking hand in hand down the road and guilt surged through her body like a bolt of lightning. Hand shaking she reached for the phone and dialled a number she had not dialled in many years, but one that was still imprinted on her brain. “Hello?” a familiar voice answered the phone. “It’s me, something’s come up, we need to meet,” Katherine told her caller. “I’m very busy at the moment, is this important?” came the reply. “Very important, it’s about the girl,” Katherine replied. “The girl?” came the sharp reply, “Fine I’ll meet you tomorrow on the outskirts of town, there’s a small café called Nico’s on Breck Lane, I’ll meet you at ten.” Katherine’s caller hung up the phone and Katherine took a deep breath feeling highly unsettled by the latest turn of events. “What do you want Peter, Dan’s in,” Leah whispered in a conspiratory manner as she opened the door to him. “Good because Dan’s the person I want to see,” Peter replied sharply. “Oh.” Leah looked taken aback and almost disappointed but Peter felt too confused to care. He followed Leah’s indication into the front room and found his brother seated on the sofa. “Hey Pete, what’s up?” Dan asked cheerfully. “Just came to see if you fancied a drink in Noah’s,” Peter told him. “Yeah why not,” Dan replied, sensing that his brother had something on his mind. He kissed Leah briefly on the cheek and the two set off in the direction of Noah’s. “Nice evening isn’t it,” Peter remarked. “Come on mate you didn’t get me out here to talk about the weather, what’s up?” Dan asked. “Angel’s thrown me out,” Peter replied. “Already? You only moved in yesterday, you must be bad to live with!” Dan teased, “Sorry mate, what happened?” he asked on seeing Peter’s expression. “I honestly have no idea. Things were fine this morning but then I came home this afternoon to get my phone and she told me she wanted me out,” Peter explained. “Did she give a reason?” Dan asked. “Yeah, she said she never really wanted me to move in in the first place, she only said it to please Dylan but she’s realised now it won’t work. She said some pretty harsh stuff,” Peter told him. “Like what?” “Like that she never really classed me a friend in the first place, she’s only been talking to me to make sure I focused all my attentions on finding Selina, she said she was using me,” Peter explained. “I find that hard to believe somehow, I’ve seen you two together and you do get on well. Besides she asked you to move in with her after Selina was found. It sounds more to me like she’s lashing out. Have you upset her?” Dan asked. “Not that I know of, this is so out of the blue,” Peter confided. “Are you sure she hasn’t fallen for you?” Dan asked. “What?” Peter was shocked. “Well her reaction would make sense then. If she’s fallen for you she’s probably feeling really scared about it, so she’s pushing you away,” Dan suggested. “Nah, we’re just mates,” Peter protested. “If you say so, but you have spent a lot of time together recently, it wouldn’t surprise me,” Dan pointed out. “Do you really think so?” Peter asked his eyes lighting up, Dan eyed him suspiciously. “You’ve fallen for her as well,” he remarked. “Don’t be ridiculous!” Peter exclaimed, laughing, “We’re just mates, we get on so well or at least I thought we did. She’s amazing you know, I trust her with anything,” Peter explained, his eyes softening. “Sounds like you’ve fallen for her to me, go on just admit it. You have fallen for her,” Dan urged. Peter stopped still in his tracks. “Christ you’re right, I do want Angel,” Peter remarked, realisation dawning on him. “So what are you going to do about it?” Dan asked. “How do you mean? She threw me out remember,” Peter replied. “You have to talk to her,” Dan urged. “Maybe in the morning, I need a little while to get my head round this first,” Peter replied. “No worries mate, you’re welcome to stay at ours tonight but get it sorted tomorrow yeah?” Dan urged. “You really think she likes me?” Peter demanded. “Yeah I do,” Dan confirmed and was rewarded with Peter’s face lighting up. Jazer
I'm really enjoying reading this fanfic and find it good as it would of been great to have former cast characters coming back. I hope Angel and Peter sort things out as they like each other. Maybe Belle's mum will be different here than on the show (Amanda is actually her mum) and we will find out if her real mum is really dead or not. Overall SKYKAT, great job!!!!!! Thanks, Jarad

Skykat
Thanks so much to those people who are still reading and reviewing this and to Jess my awesome proof reader. As always please keep the comments coming.xx CHAPTER FORTY SIX “Sel can I talk to you?” Angel asked, the second the door to the Beach House opened. It was the next day and after a restless night of not sleeping, Angel was determined to unburden herself to someone. “Sure what’s up?” Selina replied, gesturing towards the couches, “don’t worry we’re alone.” She added. “Good. How’s Joey?” Angel asked, knowing full well that she was changing the subject. “Still the same,” Selina explained, “but you didn’t come here to talk to me about him, did you?” “No. I’m sorry throwing all this on you Sel when you’ve got so much on your plate, but I wasn’t sure who else to go to and you’re the only one who knows,” Angel replied, aware that she was blabbering. “Knows what? What’s up Angel?” Selina asked. “I’m pregnant,” Angel announced, letting it out in a deep breath that she did not even know she had been holding. “Pregnant?” Selina’s voice showed her astonishment. “Who’s the father?” Selina asked. “Peter,” Angel replied, Selina nodded knowingly. “Your drunken one night stand.” “Yes that, and now it’s come back to haunt me,” Angel told her dramatically. “It was a silly drunken mistake but now I’m pregnant.” “And how does Peter feel about it?” Selina asked. “I haven’t told him, how can I? We woke up the next morning, both a bit embarrassed and said we’d carry on as friends and not mention it again. I never expected, I never thought…” “And you’re sure you’re pregnant?” Selina asked. “Yeah positive,” Angel confirmed. “So what do you want to do about the baby?” “I have thought about this so much and I can’t give it up Sel. I gave Dylan away and I regretted it. I considered terminating Shane to save Dylan when I was pregnant, but where would I be without them today? I wanted a baby so badly with Simon, maybe it would have helped mend our relationship or maybe it would have made things worse. The reality is though, that I want this baby.” “Then you have to tell Peter, you’ll need his support,” Selina replied, “Besides it’s right that he should know, he’s a decent guy, he’ll stand by you.” “Even if it might blow his chances with the woman he really wants? I doubt he’d take that risk, he really loves her Sel,” Angel explained, careful not to say too much. “But he has a responsibility to you, this is his problem as well Angel,” Selina replied, “He has a right to know.” “I guess, I’m just so scared Sel. I wish so much that this was Shane’s baby, that he was still alive. I doubt I’ll ever love anyone like I loved him,” Angel explained, tears pricking at her eyes. “You can’t think like that Angel, Shane’s gone and you have to live in the here and now. You have to tell Peter,” Selina replied. “I know, it’s just hard isn’t it?” Angel replied. “The right thing is always hard Angel but it still has to be done. You’ll do the right thing, I know you will and I’m always here for you,” Selina told her. “I know, thanks Sel,” Angel gave her a hug and left the Beach House, partly relived at having told somebody and partly dreading how she was going to tell Peter. “Hi Barry,” Selina greeted him when he entered the house. “Hello Selina,” came back the cheerful reply. “Barry you don’t know where Irene is do you?” Selina asked, “I’ve not seen her all day.” “As far as I know she’s at the hospital with Joey,” Barry replied. “Fair enough, I’ll probably head down there myself in a little while,” Selina replied. “I’m sure Joey will be pleased to see you,” Barry told her. “You really think he’ll even notice I’m there?” Selina asked. “Of course he will, I’m sure he’s dying to talk to you,” Barry confirmed. “I doubt he’s up to much talking,” Selina mused. “Well obviously he’ll be tired but I’m sure he’ll be happy to see you, to be honest I don’t know much about it just what was in Irene’s note this morning,” Barry replied. “What did her note say?” “Just that Joey had woken up and she was spending the day with him,” Barry replied. “What? Joey’s awake!” Selina exclaimed. “You mean you didn’t know?” “No I had no idea, why didn’t anybody tell me?” Selina demanded. “I don’t know, I assumed you knew, I would have thought Stephen would have told you,” Barry told her, confused. “Stephen knew?” Selina’s temper was building now and a good picture of what had happened was building in her mind. “He took the phone call. I’m sorry Selina, I thought you knew. Oh dear, I’ve caused trouble now,” Barry replied. “No I’m glad you told me. At least someone was honest with me,” Selina told him, her voice cold and calm, but not entirely disguising her anger. “I just don’t understand why you weren’t told.” “I do, Stephen didn’t want me seeing Joey but he promised he’d support me in this,” Selina replied, feeling deeply betrayed. “What will you do?” Barry asked. “Right now I’m going to go the hospital and when I catch Stephen he’s going to be the one in a coma!” Selina threatened before storming out of the house. “Hey Tash, Josie just told me you can come home today, that’s great news!” Martha enthused as she took a seat at her friend’s bed. “Yeah,” Tasha replied, her head lowered. “Isn’t it?” Martha asked, concerned. “Yeah of course it is,” Tasha replied. “Come on, out with it. What’s up?” Martha demanded, Tasha took a deep breath. “I kissed Jonah,” Tasha whispered. “I see. And now you feel…” “Guilty, betrayed, like I deserve it,” Tasha replied. “How do you mean?” “I really liked Jonah, I trusted him, I ignored all my friends, my family, Robbie, for him and I feel so betrayed,” Tasha explained. “That’s only natural Tash, everyone would feel like that,” Martha soothed. “Not everyone would have done what I did though. I feel guilty too Mac, I feel like I betrayed Robbie. I know we weren’t together but I really hurt him, you know, I guess I deserve to feel like this,” Tasha replied. “That’s not true Tash, you made a mistake, nobody blames you,” Martha told her. “Robbie does,” Tasha replied. “Did he say that?” “No but he didn’t have to. When I told him about Jonah he was devastated, he tried to hide it but I could tell. I can’t even look at him, I feel so ashamed,” Tasha replied. “Do you still love him?” Martha asked and Tasha nodded weakly. “He loves you too Tash, you just need to give him time. You both need time, give him some space, I’m sure things will work out okay,” Martha told her. “You really believe that?” Tasha asked. “Yeah I do. You two are perfect together,” Martha confirmed. “Like you and Jack?” Tasha smiled. “I doubt that somehow,” Martha replied, her face crumbling. “Hey what is it?” Tasha asked as her friend burst into tears. “I’m so sorry landing all this on you, I’m so selfish!” Martha sobbed. “Of course you’re not, I’m your best friend Mac so tell me what’s up, is it Jack?” Tasha urged. “Yeah. I guess I’m being stupid but recently it really feels like we’re falling apart. He spends so much time at work, I know his job’s important but I never get to see him Tash, and when I do try and arrange something he lets me down. I just don’t know if he really cares about me any more,” Martha explained. “Of course he does. Jack loves you. Like you said he’s been busy but I’m sure now that things have eased off at work he’ll spend more time with you. He’s crazy about you, any fool can see that,” Tasha reassured her. “I really hope so Tash, because I’m crazy about him, I’ve never loved anyone like this before,” Martha admitted. “You’ll see I’m right, it’ll all work itself out, just give it time,” Tasha soothed. “I really hope so,” Martha replied. Matilda took a deep breath and crossed the road to the house. She knew Dylan was in and that he was alone, because she had been spying on the house for over an hour desperately trying to summon up the courage to knock. Ever since their argument yesterday she had been trying to sort things out in her head, her feelings for Dylan, for Lucas. She knew she had loved Lucas, she still did in a way, but it was no longer the all-consuming, all-powerful love she had once felt. There was no chemistry between them anymore, no passion. Dylan on the other hand…Her hand shaking, she reached up to take hold of the large brass doorknocker but then paused. She couldn’t do it. Defeated she stepped away from the house but as she did so she heard the door open and she turned, half-afraid, to face it’s occupant. Dylan was leaning very casually on the doorframe, he wore only jeans, no top and had bare feet. His dark blonde hair looked dishevelled and wet as if he had just emerged from the shower, but there was something ruggedly sexy about him too, as he said nothing but merely watched her in such a casual, unconcerned sort of way. “Hi,” Matilda began, “I was just passing and I…” she began hurriedly. “I saw you watching the house,” Dylan cut her off. “Oh.” Matilda blushed a furious shade of red. “Where you ever going to knock?” he demanded. “Yes of course. Maybe,” she admitted, sheepishly. Dylan smiled and cocked his head to one side in a way that made Matilda’s heart beat furiously. “I loved Lucas,” she found herself telling him. “Right,” Dylan replied, his tone of voice nonchalant, his expression giving nothing away. “A part of me will always love him, he was my first true love,” Matilda explained. “And you never forget your first,” he replied. There was something so suggestive in his tone of voice, something Matilda found herself increasingly drawn to. “But?” he prompted. “But you drive me crazy. You infuriate me, you challenge me, you excite me…” Matilda began. “You find me irresistible right?” Dylan teased. “Cocky much?” Matilda replied, with a smile. “If you say so,” Dylan shot back. “I don’t though. You see I think it’s all an act, I think that you’re not quite as confident as you make out. I think that this love em and leave em attitude is just a front for the fact that you’re scared of being hurt,” Matilda told him. Dylan looked at her furiously. “I thought you were here to apologise, if you’ve come to have a go you can get lost right now,” Dylan snapped. “See that’s exactly what I mean. You don’t really want me to go, the truth is you know I’m right and you’re too scared to admit it because that means you have to let me in, and that terrifies you. I doubt you’ve ever been close to anyone outside of family. You’re devoted to your Mum, anyone can see that, but I doubt you’ve ever really been close to anyone except her,” Matilda replied. Dylan said nothing but his eyes looked so hard at her that she had the distinct impression he was trying to see through them into her soul and it was both an unnerving and exciting feeling. Suddenly without warning he pulled her towards her and kissed her roughly, hard and Matilda knew she was caught up in a power game, one that she was determined to win. She kissed him back but for every bruising touch his lips put on hers she responded softly, gently, her hand tenderly stroked his face, his neck until eventually he moved away from her and took a deep breath. “I’m sorry,” he replied, and as his eyes met hers she knew he truly meant it. Suddenly the crazy power games meant nothing, she realised that he liked her as much as she liked him and that put them on an equal footing. Gently she placed a soft kiss on his lips and after a minute of resistance he responded, gently, not with force but with passion. Matilda kissed him back, her own passion matching his and they were so completely caught up in each other that as he pulled her inside the house and pushed the door shut behind them, neither of them noticed the figure watching them, and smiling. “Hi Lucas.” Lucas turned from his spot overlooking the beach to see Cassie striding towards him. “Hi,” he replied cooly. “I just wanted to say I’m sorry for blowing up the other day about Dylan and Matilda, it was none of my business,” Cassie told him. “You’re right, it wasn’t,” Lucas confirmed. “I know and I’m sorry. It’s just that you’re my friend too Lucas and I didn’t want to see Mattie make a fool of you,” Cassie told him. “She wasn’t though, there was nothing going on between her and Dylan, it was all in your head,” Lucas snapped. “I can see that now and I’m sorry. Are you and Mattie really over?” Cassie asked. “Yeah,” Lucas confirmed. “I’m so sorry, I feel so terrible!” Cassie told him. “Don’t. It wasn’t your fault, Mattie and I have been over for a while, and neither of us just wanted to admit it. At least you forced it into the open,” Lucas told her. “Are you sure?” Cassie asked. “Sure,” Lucas replied, Cassie nodded. “I guess I’ve just been going a bit crazy over the last few weeks, it’s Flynn, you know? I don’t feel like I have properly been able to grieve for him and as well as that I've split up with Ric and I just don't know if I'm coming or going, you know? I’ve just felt so messed up, so lonely. I didn’t even really like Dylan that much it’s just that whoever Matilda wants she gets and I guess I was jealous,” Cassie admitted. “Matilda doesn’t always get her own way,” Lucas replied. “Yes she does, she always gets picked over me,” Cassie replied. “That’s not true. Dylan liked you until you blew up the other day,” Lucas replied. “No, he always like her more, Ric too was always so concerned about her, always cared more about Matilda than me and you…” Cassie began. “What are you saying Cassie?” Lucas asked. “You picked Matilda over me as well,” Cassie replied. “You were with Ric,” Lucas replied, shocked. “Well I was kidding myself,” Cassie replied. “I don’t know what to say.” “Don’t say anything then. Look I didn’t mean to come down here and say all this, I wanted to apologise. I’m sure you and Matilda will work things out,” Cassie replied. “I don’t think so somehow,” Lucas replied. “I do. You still like her and if you’re sure there’s nothing between her and Dylan,” Cassie told him. “There isn’t, Dylan told me so,” Lucas replied. “Well there you go then. Look if you’re not doing anything now do you feel like coming over to Dylan’s with me? I want to apologise to him and it’d be nice to have some support,” Cassie asked. “You don’t need my support Cassie,” Lucas told her. “Please Lucas, I’d really appreciate it?” Cassie begged, her eyes pleading with him. “Okay then,” Lucas conceded and began to head in the direction of Dylan’s house, as he did so missing Cassie’s delighted grin. What's happening with them BTW? Seems ages since we last saw them. Don't worry ILM I'm just biding my time. The storyline for Kane/Kirsty/Gus is going to go nuclear but I didn't want to launch into it so soon after the other big storylines and I also didn't want to lose track of other characters don't worry though in a chapter or two that storyline's going to start playing out. Jesse hasn't been forgotten yet either, I'm not saying much but he's in this story for a particular reason and you'll find out soon enough. There'll be more Selina/Stephen/Joey too; maybe not so much drama but more how they deal with events that have happened I just felt that having had a major Selina story running for a while it was time I gave some plot space to other characters. They'll be back very soon though. LD scott, thanks for always reviewing and commenting on this story, my proof reader Jess is a huge fan of evil Cassie so there'll be much more to come from her as well. There should be another chapter up in a day or two guys.xx
