I'll answer for her cause she's still verrrry new and told me she doesn;t know what she's doing on here :P (I'll teach her the ways  )

Basically, when she joined it was the middle of exams, then her internet broke, then she forgot her password, and then she remembered like yesterday about this place so I made her get her password back and come join us :P

Hello and welcome to all our new members. My name is Skykat, I'm one of the moderators here but contrary to popular belief I'm not scary and I don't bite! If you have any questions or are unsure on anything, please feel free to PM me anything you want to ask and I'll try my best to help you.

I would particulary like to address the issues hotmailbabe mentioned in her post a few pages back. Obviously its taken as a given that when new members joining the boards they're going to make mistakes and as a rule the moderators don't tend to 'jump down the throats' of new members or dish out warnings, we merely aim to point out the rules to avoid future mistakes. Other members who have been around a while may also do the same. The intention is to help you but I can understand that at times it may come across as a bit intimidating.

My question is to anyone but I'm particulary interested in what newer members have to say. What can we do to help you feel more welcome here at BTTB and avoid you making lots of mistakes early on?

A few of the Moderators have discussed suggestions such as a standard welcoming PM which gives you links to The Rules, The FAQ section, The Are you Unsure? Thread and this Newbie Thread. Or maybe adding a Guide to Navigating the Forum somewhere which tells you what each section of the forum is for, the individual rules to read before posting in each forum, the useful threads you'll find in there and so on.

Would any of these suggestions be helpful to new members? Would you use them or would they largely be ignored? Would it make you feel more comfortable with receiving PMs from the Moderators if there was a thread where they introduced themselves, told you a bit about them? Is there any other suggestions you have for us? (Please don't start mod bashing) but I would personally be interested to have opinions on this, particulary, as I say the newer members. The last thing we want is people scared to post unless they make a mistake.

Thanks in advance to anyone who posts any views on this.
